Johhny Maestro and Joel were fairly close friends and Johnny hand picked Joel to be his replacement because he sounded so much like him. On some soungs it is hard to tell them apart. I was at that show. When the show started many there didn't know Johnny couldn't be there. Just about half way through that show, the audience accepted Joel and they let him know that a with standing ovation and much hear warming applause. From the moment on they accepted him. He won then over because he sounded just like Johnny and they thought so too.

Truly " OUT OF SIGHT" TRUE NO ONE CAN REPLACE JOHNNY BUT JOHNNY WANTED JOEL TO REPLACE HIM UPON HIS DEATH. JUST JOEL DIDN'T WANT THE SPOT. WE MUST AT LEAST AGREE WE MUST GET SOMEONE TOOOOOO!

Johnny Maestro was a mentor to Kid Kyle. You could see the expression of pride in his face the entire video as they sang together.

Kid Kyle is a great doo wop singer and talent. I have been following him since he was 11 years old. He's 28 now, and I just saw him in concert at Pottstown, Pa. on Oct. 22.

Joel Katz is really the only one who could fill in for THE MAESTRO. Such a fantastic voice! I was blessed to see Johnny M. in November 2009 in Peekskill. He still sounded great despite his visible illness :-((
