Retaining wall is not insulated, the drain pipe is there, but covered with dirt, not gravel. It will start leaking the next year, will crack in 5 and will require a rebuild in 10.
Which one are you talking about? The concrete or wood walls?
That looks like a nightmare for weed control
It’s a bit ugly.
😮
I respect the tenacity and resolve sown on this project, but I suppose the real estate mantra: location, location, location rings in my mind. I am more fond of nature out in the country, with 2 acres on the creek with hills, I have a fabulous sandbox to play: 3 bridges, zip line, hanging rope bridge and working on a treehouse. But I am glad to see these folks work with what they had.
Thanks for your comment 👍
looks great but i bet it cost a pretty penny to do all this
Thanks! You’re not wrong 😅
Hello, I am Al hasan. I am a professional video editor for past years. As you are looking for a video editor and I think I'm the right candidate for this because I have edited several client videos and have a good experience as well.
hey sir do you need a editor?
Nice, however, the budget was busted on the landscape and no funds for LARGER plants? Water feature needed.
Plants have grown in nicely now 😊 check out my short. At the end it shows the update! Agreed on the water feature!
I have a half acre lot that is half non usable slope. I watched this to see if I could get some ideas. This must have cost a fortune, and I don't care for the end result. Not enough green, not enough color. Too much brown and concrete. Too much wasted space.
Thanks for your comment 👍

I’d love to see it when the plants mature.
Check out our TH-cam short. It shows progress on the growth at the end!
That pipe under the concrete, how to get to it if any prob arises?
You would have to demo the concrete! It’s well protected though 👍
WHOA!!!
😮
Hmm, looks good, but not much added utility.
Thanks for your comment 👍
Exceptional
Thank you! ❤
What that run you?
Nice transformation. Obviously a low rainfall area otherwise the bark would be knocking at the back door on the first wet weekend and the timber introduced to the soil would rot very quickly. If the homeowner loves it then worth every dime.
Thanks for your comment 👍 mulch has stayed put for the most part even through some wet winters. 🤞
Dislike all the plastic used. But for the rest nice transformation.
Thanks! I don’t like the plastic either 😢
What?! West Coast is such a clown place. Nice mulch pile.
😂🤡
looks great. curious as to the ballpark it cost.
Thanks! This project was around 70k if I’m remembering correctly
Excellent transformation. I am looking to purchase a home with a similar sloped backyard. Could you please let me know what will be the ballpark range for the same project now?
Thanks! I think it was around 70k if I’m remembering correctly
I need this asap
Four guys, how many total work days? Would love to see an evening video - plenty of lighting to transform the backyard Great job
Do you need a video editor bro:)
Hey! just dm you on IG
A lot of steep hillside lots like these in the Bay Area. I think you guys did a great job. Especially since the bench with a view was the client's #1 priority. And the need for drought tolerant plants and landscaping in NorCal now more than ever. Still I might have splurged for a tiny patch of lawn in that flat area under the tree, just to lie on, but that's me.
Thanks for your comment ❤
Kudos to Terra Gardens for the imaginative reinvention of the normally wasted slope space into a viewing platform destination! Bella Terra!
Thank you so much!
Way too simple. IM(not so)HO
It’s not your honest opinion? Thanks for your comment 👍
It looks very...rectangular. Lol. Granted, great craftsmanship! And it was likely what the homeowner wanted; however, on a design choice, I would've gone with a rounded, terraced hillside. You can do so much more with a terraced hillside, from garden beds, to picnic areas, to a kid's garden, etc. It'll also preserve the landscape better will less sloping for water runnoff.
Thanks for your comment 👍 agreed!
I was wondering why you’d put a bench way up on top, until you showed the view while sitting on it. I get it now.
❤
I don't see a single woman in the group. As a garden designer, why do all gardens have to be so masculine? When I look @ local landscaping, it's all the same few shrubs, grasses, perennials, but SO much hardscaping. It's not a plant garden so much as a concrete garden. Too many hard surfaces. Why the stairs, other than an expensive addition. So much is based on how much they can CONVINCE the homeowner to do that will pay the landscaper big bucks. It's unnecessary, expensive, and less actual garden. Sad and boring. Missed opportunity here.
Check out our short video of this project! It’s growing in nicely. This project was designed by a woman, and we have 3 woman on our team so I don’t know what you are talking about 😂 everyone has their own taste, but our client loves the yard!
Does all the mulch not slide or get pulled down the slope during heavy rains, considering the grade?
a bit yeah in some steep areas, but most of the mulch has stayed put even through our wet winters these last few years.
It leaves me wondering what the purpose of the buried pvc pipe in the beginning was for. Was expecting to see some outlets or tread lights or something
that was for our irrigation :)
Was the inside board 2x or was it 1x like the redwood?
Excellent. I've just moved into a new home that needs a lot of work . These videos really help.
Thanks for your comment 👍
Whats it cost to do something like this?
Around 70k
awesome video!
Thank you!
Great job! What is used for the waterproof membrane and the filter fabric? Product specifics helpful!
If this was in Australia, it would've cost 100k+
ID LOVE THIS IN KENYA
HELLO
Would love a more detailed look at each of the bigger parts of the project. Great results would love to have even a 1-2 min video about how to make the stairs or make the concrete walls so smooth.
Thanks for the feedback! Will keep that in mind for the future
What a waste of money
thanks for the engagement!
Sorry to sound negative but I would have pushed the retaining wall back to where the steep slope starts to maximise space behind the house. Oh and it seems a shame to spend all that time and money and STILL have to look at the fugly fence around the section. That would have been my first change
thanks for your comment!
Охуенчик! Кто-то делает сад, кто-то растит еду, кто-то просто делает приятный для глаз фон для жизни. Классный дворик!)
Спасибо! и спасибо за просмотр, друг
That project probably cost more than the house ….
not even close! It's California!
@Jeff-bl1rz $1000
cost?
>70k
This looks great! It'll be stunning when all the plants start to fill out. The view from the top sitting area is fantastic, I'd sit up there reading a book and enjoying the view. I have slopped areas that I have no idea how to work, this video was an inspiration.
Thanks so much!
Great job - what a difference!
Thanks so much!
Awesome! Hope you are more successful this year.
Thanks, likewise. I need to learn more about the PH of soils.
