Yes. It's a very beginner friendly landing technique
Just change where it says “CUSTOM” at top of Ship Controls to “Keyboard & Mouse Yaw” and it will be same flying controls as Star Citizen
Not quite. Relative mouse is still off by default for both axes, and the mouse tuning is all over the place.
A few thousand hours in and if havent used edengeenier or any of the other stuff you showed. I am not gonna start now, but i am stupid that way. Anyways great frikking video!

By default yeah it's awful. Whoever wrote the default keyboard and mouse binds should probably be fired. Functionally, the overwhelming majority of us in pvp in elite use keyboard and mouse, so if mouse is bad, then the other methods can't be fairing much better

I know it's an older video, but I have a couple of questions. What are your key bindings for trust and throttle ?
I don't bind forward or reverse thrusrers at all. In FAOFF, your throttle "behaves" like forward and reverse thrusters anyways in normal space, and thrusters are useless in super cruise anyways. For throttle, I use a pair of pedals off of a G29, with gas being increase throttle and clutch for decrease. Those loud clacking noises in the video are the pedals getting picked up on my older mic. This allows me to put my verts on W and S to complement lats being on A and D.

@@slavzabicki265 by the time the mining overhaul happened, I was already a pvp'er, so technically I've never tried mining FAON lol

Video is correct,but shows how kb/m players are disadvantaged. Fly in supercruise by keys is bad even its best possible solution right now. When I am mining I use fa on. When I am docking I use it too. So practicly I have to change options many times by my gameplay. I am missing some individual settings for FA off and on or some possibility make few diferent setting profiles.
If the choice is being able to fly better in supercruise or being able to fly better in normal space, I will take normal space every time. I honestly don't see it as a disadvantage really, as I've never been in the situation in supercruise that requires the laser precision that faoff does in combat

@@jesterM60 eh. I mean these days I mostly fly organized, but even back in my ganking and organic days, I never found myself losing or winning interdictions at a significantly different enough rate to other pvpers to justify buying a stick.

I know this is an old video but someone may find this tiny adjustment useful. I already had my binds mostly set up like yours, but one thing people should also do is set roll to Shift+Q and Shift+E as well as just Q and E. The reason being when you try and use Shift WASD for big movements you can not roll at the same time. By giving roll 2 different key bindings it eliminates the problem. I also was not using relative mouse correctly and now i see why its so important lol. I'm messing with flight assist off as I type this and its a hugeee help so thanks for the video!
i'm glad it helped you out. relative mouse had been a pretty widely known thing in the pvp community for years before this video was made, but it was basically just a word of mouth thing, that you had to get someone to mentor you through how to set it up and tune correctly, which seemed a bit insane.

You can basically ask any pvp'er, really. The overwhelming majority of us are flying mouse and keyboard. I'm a bit of a weirdo, since I'm using throttle on pedals, but if you've got any questions, just ask

My hotas took a fall and the stick is broke, I'm glad it was the PS4 one so at least cheaper although still expensive, I'm glad I came across this video, I was having a hard time with the default controls, and didn't know about the relative mouse setup, I'm going to give it a try, and also the key bindings you setup, hopefully with some practice I will actually be able to fly my ship somewhat effectively
glad i could be of help. it's going to be a bit uncomfortable in FAOFF for a little while almost no matter what you do, but just keep at it. nobody started off an FAO lord

I think the PVP is bronken rigth now. Relative mouse + long range weapons has a great advantage over HOTAS. When I release my joystick in faoff my ship is not stabilized as with mouse. it's not fair. :/
stabilized is probably the wrong word there. relative mouse is meant to emulate a joystick, so the re centering is emulating just letting go of the stick or letting it go back to center. And there are pvp pilots out there that make HOTAS work very well, my wingmate Qoryll being one of them. i will admit that hitscan weapons are much easier with kbm, but plenty of people out there are using plasmas and HOTAS just fine
@@cmdr_liella So, is there a way to show us some HOTAS settings to come close to KB? I must go back to KB for pvp, because HOTAS is extremely hard with rails and plasmas

Very neat FA-Off flying in those tight spaces! You have to hand it to F-Dev for their excellent and detailed station design. Makes the game even more immersive. o7 Dude

Probably because they're actually harder in FAON, if not outright impossible. When you have FAON, you'd have to hold down the thrusters to match your movement to the stations, whereas in FAOFF, you tap your thrusters until you're matched up, and then you don't have to continue making inputs.

whats your dpi setting? i have really low for my fps games and the controls feel kind of clunky
so i started out at about 1200 dpi and then over the years i've slowly creeped it up to 1800
@@cmdr_liella oh that's makes sense then , the highest I normally use is 800. Ill try the higher dpi
@@LetsGetPixeled it's gonna feel super wonk for a bit almost no matter what you do. it just takes practice
Which key did you bind throttle?
so i have a logitech G29 racing wheel. the gas pedal is bound to increase throttle, and the clutch to decrease

Is there an option for a key to toggle relative mouse? I want it off for faon and on for faoff and doesn't really feel like switching every time I switch controls.
That definitely doesn't sound like a requested feature that players have been asking for for years on end with no word from FDev. The sad answer is not right now, there isn't.
@@cmdr_liella Hi, thx for replying. I've made a voice attack script that works as a simulation of relative mouse control thanks to inspiration from someone in the CQC discord. If you are interested basically set a toggle key that repeatedly presses the center mous vutton.
