Setting Up The Ultimate Nano Tank!!! (Eshopps Deskmate)
Do you have the powerhead magnet in the water on the backside?
Beautiful…❤
You might try a 40-gallon next or even a 55-gallon tank if you have the room for it. Also, if you don't mind getting a rimmed tank they always seem to go on sale around black Friday, which is coming up. You could get a 75-gallon and decent stand for about $400.00. Then you could put a canister filter or even a 20-gallon refugium if you have the space underneath.
You should make this an anemone tank!! I would not recommend adding new fish due to the tanks size.
So could 1 clown fish work out for the long term like 5-6 years I plan on buying the best equipment possible ? Because my parents will not let me get a saltwater tank over 6 gallons
What would you recommend me for the second slot of the tank ? A protein skimmer ? Or what else equipment would you recommend
If your fish cant swim at full speed for 3 seconds or longer they are big and tank is too small. You should have like an orchid dotty back. Or like a pistol shimp and goby pair. Mabye even a smaller species of wrasse. Reach out to reef2reef and the community there. Talk to a member that has alot of knolege and ask them to help you with a stocking plan for your tank
Great stuff 👍
Unfortunately you're stocking the tank too heavily. One small fish is about all you can safely put in a tank that small, and even then it's going to be a lot of work to be able to keep them healthy as the tank won't cope with the bioload well without a lot of maintenance.
I know many people who keep 2-3 fish in these tanks for years and haven’t had any issues as long as you establish a strong bio environment you shouldn’t have any issues
@@NanoReefing it’s about the billed and the ability of the tank to process that. Two blows in that size tank is not going to cope without either restricting the food to the fish massively, effectively starving them, or by doing multiple water changes a week.
@@pete_stewardson Having a good bio bacteria system is key. I have a stock 30g biocube (about 8mo old) with 4 fish, few shrimps and about 20 various snails along with some corals (not exactly overstocked im sure) but I initially would do ~15% water changes weekly and was having issues with 0 nitrate/phosphate so I stopped doing water changes temporarily while monitoring other levels. I haven't done a w/c in almost 6 weeks and still only around 2ppm nitrate but I do have about 75% of my back wall and rocks covered in purple coralline algae and growing fast. Coraline started appearing around 4 or 5 months.
@@t4nk3d402 but the tank in the video is a 5G tank which is a huge difference
@@pete_stewardson exactly, the point was the bio bacteria is key. Not doing a water change for 1.5 months even with a small bio load means my system could likely handle much much more. With an "overstocked" system as long as the bio filter is able to convert ammonia/nitrites to nitrates and they are taken care of before levels are too high its really not much of an issue. Clowns really dont move around the tank much either like many active swimmers. Active swimmers would def not be a good fit for a small tank.
Keep going 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Where did u get the screen cover? Awesome Deskmate!
Krakenreef.com best lids in the market!
Great looking Deskmate! Where did u get the filter cup from? What's the size?
From krackenreef.com it’s the standard filter cup they sell
Hello friend, I would like to know what the lid of the waterbox cube 20 is called. I am from Spain. How could I get it? I haven’t seen it anywhere. Greetings. what is its price?
One or two chalk bass would be super cool
Ended up just doing 2 clowns and they are super happy
This is a pico tank.
All depends on your definition of pico I still consider this a nano but everyone has there own option
man im new to reefing too but i know my fluval 13.5 gal tank would be too small for a wrasse as well. id just get one cool clown fish and a bunch of softies for this tank
I always knew they would out grow the tank and I planned on upgrading within a couple months but yes it is not ideal for that many fish. I now only have 2 clowns and they are thriving
Must be your first tank. Should research tank capacity before buying your fish.
I’m been reefing for a couple years just wanted to see if I could make something like this work but obviously it didn’t in the end. Tank is doing great now with 2 fish
Start big never regret small tank too many problem will kill the fish and coral.
@@SxSAzNSxS very true, I’ve always wanted a smaller tank. I’m determined to get this one looking beautiful!!
I got rid of all my hermit crabs, but I have a lot of snails.
I think U just need 2 get docile fishes. Like Bangai Cardinals. Or certified paired clowns. My LFS sells paired clowns hosting an Anemone. Sold as a set. So u don't need 2 hope that the clown host ur BT Anemone. But I am a SUB & I love keeping up with ur channel cuz I also have a Deskmate.
Ya that’s what I’m going to do now
Too small for 2 clowns and a 6 line
Yep, going to stick with just 2 clowns
I’m so scared to try salt water I heard it’s hard
i have had since i was nine just start with a 20 gal cuz bigger tanks are way easier and do water changes every week and you should be fine and take things slow
Don’t be scarred! It’s really not too bad, start with a tank as big as your budget allows but I would suggest nothing smaller than a 20gal. All you have to do is stay consistent with water changes and be patient! Let me know if you have any other questions
Looking good! Always fun to watch things grow and progress! As for hermit crabs, do you have extra shells for them to change and grow into? This can help them a lot. Can't wait to see more! 😀
@@mermaidschorus_pets honestly I didn’t even think about that! I will definitely get some extra shells for them, thank you!!
@@NanoReefing Sure thing! Hope it helps them! 😁
nice vid!!
@@benjaminthoudahlvandermark Thank you!!
SHAME ON YOU FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY.
@@herbst8382 how is this cruel?
@@NanoReefing i think theyre crazy bro just ignore em 🤣
@@galazza thats the plan 😂
@@NanoReefingI think they are talking about the tank size. It’s standard for a minimum to be 10 gallons to keep your fish happy
Is it a saltwater tank?
i have a 7 gal cube thinking of getting a clownfish and pistol shrimp and hi fin red banded goby pair would this be good it would most lickley be long term
@@gta6gameplay945 yes that would definitely work just try and find fish on the smaller side
@@NanoReefing are those fish short term then thank you for the advice
the ones you listed would be good for quite a while, in smaller tanks theres more aggression, I'm currently dealing with one of my clowns messing with the other. I've found introducing all the fish at the same time is best so then no one can claim territory.
Cool
Beautiful! 😍
Thank you!
Where’d you get the Nero 3 guard?
Krakenreef
@@NanoReefingweird, I can only see black options now
@@Mahad-xu8yl ya unfortunately I think they stopped selling the colored ones, you can massage them on Instagram and they may be able to help you out
Where you get the supply?
?
Interested in what product you used to polish the acrylic?
Here's a link to it!! www.amazon.com/dp/B0029B518O?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
Purple flame fish 🔥
@@montlaureltv3305 if I can find a small one I think it would definitely look good!
@@NanoReefing I have a storm clown filefish and pompom crab in mine currently
fire shrimp *****
I have the same tank just hit a month also looking forwards to seeing how you do :)
Awesome!! I really enjoy these small tanks
Looks good! I'm sure one clownfish would be fine by itself, but he'd probably look lonely. You would have to get a pair in my opinion.
That’s the plan! Just need to decide what kind to get
What’s the plan coral wise? Looking good
Nothing wrong with 74 degrees in my opinion, good for ph!
I personally just prefer a higher temp
Zoas, goni, hammer and maybe torch
I have the same one how can I share some pictures
you can send them over on instagram!
Looking good so far 👏👌🙌
@@queencityreefs thank you!!
Micro goby’s are awesome for a little tank
@@Khris_1013 that is one of the fish I’m thinking about putting in it!!
What kind of clownfish will you get
Is your clown hosting any?
Love this set up! What tank brand is that ur using?
@@kuyaspanky. waterbox 20 cube!
What kind of fish are you going to put in that tank
Planning on a nice set of clowns and maybe a goby
Yay
Very nice reef!👍
Thank you!
Is it salt water?
Yes it is
An Actual nice little tank
Thank you!!
I want to drink it so bad
Would not suggest that lol
❤❤❤
Do you dose and what do you aim dKH at? Thanks
just do water changes and feeding
Sweet!!
What powerhead do you use? And do you like it? This looks awesome I bought one today. Always had large tanks but wanted to try my hand in a nano with some hard coral wish me luck.
I use the Nero 3, love it! best power head for nano tanks
