Camp Lejeune Justice Corrections Act Webinar - 06-13-24

The Camp Lejeune Justice Corrections Act is a critical piece of legislation that will impact thousands of Veterans and their families who have suffered the effects of contaminated water supply at Camp Lejeune. The original Camp Lejeune Justice Act was passed within the historic PACT Act of 2022. Since then, an abysmal 53 out of the 175,000 claims submitted have been settled-just 0.03%. The Camp...

When these DOJ lawyers and Navy JAG lawyers want to be elevated to higher offices, the answer should be NO. When these judges want to be elevated, the Senate should say NO. The more they say no to the veterans and family members who were poisoned, the louder the NO should be when they want to be promoted. We have the list of the government lawyers who are violating us. Don't forget them. They should have a curse mark on their foreheads, like CAIN. www.courtlistener.com/docket/67266149/parties/camp-lejeune-water-litigation-v-united-states/

Every civilian family member exposed to that base needs health care. It should NOT matter whether they slept off base or on base. Right now, CLFMP excludes anyone who slept off base. It does not matter if you were exposed for years or if you were sick from it. This is absolutely wrong and outrageous. None of the CLJA victims with valid claims should have to spend anything on health treatments.

Compare how our government has been treating illegal border crossers and how they have treated Camp Lejeune victims. Illegal migrants have been given free housing , food, cell phones and tens of thousands of dollars. They have given this nation and government nothing. WE Marines laid it all on the line and served with honor and dignity but they have only given us "Delay, Deny and Wait Till They Die". They are still inventing new blockades and hurdles to keep us from getting anything while they look to do even more for illegal migrants. Respectfully, that is BS.

The Corps knew about this since the 1990s. I read about the contamination from an article in the VFW mag. I have filed 4 claims to no effect. Filling out form after form through the VA local office. Now to have to wait again, this time my Marine husband has passed in 2019 with pancreatic cancer. We had 2 children on base (early 1968 thru late 1970) and living in New River Air Station for 2 years. Many other health issues we experienced through the years. Leukemias, skin cancers, autoimmune disorders, etc. Being in my 70s and have to relive the issues again and again, is hard. I have a lawyer filing my husbands and my claim also. Waiting Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im very confused about this. I only hear want the lawyer's want you to do. I was at Camp Lejeune from 1975 to 1977. I have several things wrong with me. I am in my 4th year of remission of squamous cell carcinoma of the nasal pharanyx. I was also exposed to burn pits. fire fighting foam and AFFF agent, exposed to oil fires during gulf war. The cancer treatment both chemo and radiation left me with a feeding tube and a throat opening the size of a pea. I have no salivatory glands and ended up with stage 3 kidney disease. Not to mention neurological problems and bacterial infections in my spine. I am rated 100% permanently disabled by the VA. I am being told that if I filed a case with a lawyer and won any money the VA would deduct that amount from my disability pay and rating could be reduced. I don't understand why I can't sue over the fact that they KNOWINGLY POISENED ME!

I am a get from camplejeune 1977 - 1978 I have been going to west Los Angeles for 15 to 20 years they would not give me a diagnosis but may 12 2023 I found out why it was because my cat scans and my brain MRI had been stamped for official use only and the cat scan was viewed by a doctor Erin dowelling ucla radiology she saw damage to my lungs my left adrenaline glad and my heart and my thyroid requesting if her and her team could speak with me about all this life threatening ground Glass opacity and all of the tumors covering both lungs a bilateral lung tumor and small tumors inside my heart she said she would be very happy to tell this tragic news to me please sign this bow well they didn't sign the box and never followed her medical treatment recommendations at all so what they did was never told me about her report leaving me with no knowledge of what the danger was inside my body almost like they wanted me dead but there is more so I suggest that someone needs to tell veterans from camp lejeune that they two probably have this same stamps for official use only on vital evidence In your medical records and radiology scans they knew from 1996 that this stuff was moving fast but neglected to give me my human rights to know what they say and what doctor Erin dowelling red as highly possible terminal stage of cancer in all areas where the notated tumors was seen on cat scan and MRI.

I agree that the deadline must be extended or removed altogether. There is no rational reason why there needs to be a deadline at all. Even the 9/11 victims have 2090 as their deadline. That should be the case here. Enough with fake hurdles that just cause anxiety and more suffering. I would also ask that any payment made be exempt from capital gains taxes when invested. This makes up for the fact that no punitive damages can be awarded (also irrational) and the long period of waiting for justice, over 70 years in some cases.

The comment about the Corrections Act becoming a bad thing because it will make the attorney fee cap unreasonable - nice way to try to put the fear in people that no one will represent them because it's not financially worth the time. :( Use the slush funds out there that our government uses all of the time to cover things and help these men and women. It gets me so angry. My Dad died for what? It's like a kick in the teeth. :( :( :(

So the Camp Lejeune Justice Corrections Act is a proposed item and is not set in stone, from my understanding. The biggest hurdle is that August deadline for filing anything - that MUST be extended. Far too many affected people do not know this is even happening.

Those very same "PREDATORY LAWFIRMS" charging 40% are the same LAWFIRMS that will be handing election campaign BIG MONEY to vote a certain way if the bill ever sees the light of day. The GovTrack page shows this bill having a 4% chance of being law, and those law firms will spend tens of millions to the right politicians to assure it fails. Need proof? Simply ask why the law firms wont simply reduce their fee demand to 25% voluntarily? To each of my brothers and sisters of CL, God Speed, stay safe, stay strong! Finally, to those politicians who DID take a step forward to do the right thing for the victims of CL, THANK YOU and Semper Fi!

It is called a combat action ribbon, CAB or CIB. Did you get one? You should have, rolling with special operations and all, that helps your claim. I don't believe you about doctors making fun or assuming you are lying. They give an opinion, the raters have your record in front of them, they can see what you did. As well, did you file when you were getting out or a decade later? Later takes longer and has more red tape. I'm just not buying your situation here. If you are looking to get VA benefit compensation and care, then you should have put in detail on the post deployment checklist that you were in direct fire combat conditions, numerous raids, discharged your weapon and received live fire, if classified, leave out details of who and what, and checked all that applied to you that were injury and illness wise due to that specific deployment. I must have filled out 8 of these in my 23 years and it had a remarks section where I described the burn pits in a few post deployment checklist. ALL veterans have issues getting benefits as well, not just these chosen females of 300. It took me from 2017 to just this year to get all my benefits from the VA. Also, you can get a buddy statement saying you indeed fell off the wall. How do I know? I fell out of a helicopter on my first day in country in 2007, didn't go to medical, should have, but didn't, and if it is not in your medical record, you'll need this buddy statement. It is not a Jax Bill, woman veteran bill, you have an issue with the VA and you didn't take responsibility to have incidents documented. Unreal the victimhood in the ranks, the cancer of the Armed Forces.

They didn't get CABs because at the time women weren't allowed on combat missions and Special Ops don't report where they got injured. There was no record. I don't think you understand women in the military or covert deployments. - from a combat vet that helped fund some of the "undocumented missions"

The big problem is that none of these men were ever intended to survive the first enlistment. With so many survivors, and the government so unwilling to provide aftercare, these issues are exclusively the problem of their families. Not designed to help. Only designed to deploy them and replace them.
