Thanks for watching, so like Mike, I haven definitely used the wish bone shaped fallen limbs, I have also simply layered the end of the wire and winder on top of my truck tire, wedged in the top of a picnic table, etc. What I do keep in my vehicle though is a couple plastic electric fence poles from Tractor supply, I think they were like $2’ish each. Work great is soft ground, but I find here in Mississippi where the soil is mostly clay, it’s impossible to stick them in the ground when it’s really dry. So I would say just think what may work best for you. You can also use a small plastic camera tripod! I have one that collapsed is only like over a foot tall, but fully extended it’s shot the size of a normal tripod.

I could definitely tell a difference and why I replaced it quickly.

It has definitely become my primary antenna. Although I still keep the Gap Titan handy , sometimes the vertical gets the contact easier.

Sorry I’m not much help on this, but there are some changes you can do from the keypad, but saving those changes or adding/replacing channels is best done with or only done with software. I believe this was likely to satisfy GMRS compliance. Such as if you put a ham frequency in it from the keypad you can not enable transmit, but with the software you can.

That is a recent new (couple weeks) requirement at Repeaterbook.

It wasn’t for me. Windows and some programs will flag it because it don’t have signed certificate, which cost money and the reason so many programs make windows alert you. If you’re not comfortable with it, nothing wrong with being safe.

I’m unable to upload software, the vendor’s link for factory firmware and programming software qsfj.com/support/downloads/3002 . Link to alternative community firmware and online programming is also in the description.

Yes you will have to use programming of some type. I do not know if chirp supports this model, but you can either use the Bluetooth programmer or download the software from the vendor.

@@K5YVY Thanks. I have the ODmaster app so I should be able to do it with that and the Bluetooth programmer they have. My friend bought these, and our group uses a CTCSS tone to talk, but he cant transmit so we can hear because he does not have a tone set or maybe it came set with a different tone. Was a little bothered than ther was no way to set it from the radio itself. Thanks!

Yeah they preprogram tones in these that usually don’t work with other branded radios cause they aren’t the same. If nothing ride talk the others into changing their tone to his if you have a device or radio that can do tone scan.

Welcome to the hobby. Operation of this radio on GMRS as it comes should be ready to go. If PL Tones need changing that can be done with programming by computer or the Tidradio Bluetooth programmer. If you have your ham license and wish to use it on those bands, you must use the programmer to save the desired frequencies and allow transmit. Doing this causes it to be non compliant on GMRS for your awareness. Besides that operation is similar to baofeng uv5r’s.

Possibly a compatibility issue, if the Android OS version may be too old for the app you’re attempting to download. I would first try to sideload the app by apk directly. You can find tutorials on how to sideload and sources of apk direct downloads.

@@K5YVY Thanks for answering, I already solved it, the manufacturer sent me a code to download the app, it was solved, now I downloaded TeamSpeak 3 and the speaker doesn't work, I can only listen with the headphones, the FM radio through Zello works well, do you think there could be a hidden menu to activate the speaker option? When I turn on the hands-free, the reception works, but the PTT goes off, it only opens the carrier and my voice doesn't come out, very strange... what do you think could be happening?

@@iguanachannel4113 that is very strange, I wonder if the code you were given changed firmware settings beyond just the ability to download. I agree that it sounds like this is related to the software and not hardware, but unfortunately I don’t have any knowledge myself of a service menu, although it’s likely to have one as most electronics do. Sorry I couldn’t be a help.

@timel64 lol true. It is the insta360 X4 and yes they call them the invisible selfie stick. It’s a neat camera but it does add additional post edit work in your flow. Unfortunately it suffered a fatal fall shortly after that clip was recorded and it’s not in California to be repaired…so tack on another couple hundred in my cost🥺

Repeaterbook choices are frequency, callsign, or landmark or city believe. You can export by distance but Further customizing will need to be done by you in your programming software to my knowledge.

Yeah I ditto that. I don’t like the extra effort of framing in post, but I love being able to record absolutely everything and then look around and pick what I want in the shot. Now if insta would hurry up and repair it.
