It's best to place it under a shelf where it gets sunlight in the morning and shade from midday. If the soil dries out too much, the tree will weaken before the roots can sprout, so you need to be careful. Also, if the soil dries out too much, placing some sphagnum moss on top of the soil will help prevent it from drying out. However, if you place it too close to the tree, the sprouts will be damaged by the moisture, so make sure to leave some space between them.

These trees fall under the category of mini bonsai as they are less than 10cm tall. Mini bonsai is a type of bonsai that is one size smaller than shohin bonsai.

Thank you for your comment! Are you referring to the thick root mass that protrudes outward? There are two reasons. ① There are not many fine roots at the base of thick roots, or the strength of the roots is weak. ② Because it was possible to put it in a thin pot without cutting it. We plan to encourage the germination of fine roots and treat it when replanting next year.

私もミニ盆栽鉢を作ってる立場からみると、この鉢が一番ピッタリだと思います。色味といい樹形に一番近い。

Wonderful video! You'll keep these in high humidity, correct? 70-90% RH, like in a tray with a dome over it? I have a nice shohin sized one that is a mess of both long and short branches, and needs some major changes but I'm nervous to do surgery on it like you did because I don't want all my cut branches to die because of me trying to root them.
Thank you for your comment. I store cuttings keeping in mind the following points. ① Avoid strong winds (if the cuttings move, the rooting rate will decrease) ② Exposure to sunlight for several hours in the morning I manage them by storing them under the shelves or on the bottom shelf. Dome etc. are not used. If the soil in the pot gets very dry, I recommend placing chopped sphagnum moss around the tree. Japanese cypress is a tree species that has a high rooting rate for cuttings. If you have a tree species that is difficult to take cuttings from, or if you want to make it as hard as possible to wither it, you may want to consider taking layering. For either method, the best time of year is before germination in the spring.

Regarding the location of cuttings. ① A place that is not easily affected by strong winds (the cuttings will move in strong winds) ② What I will spend about 3 hours in the morning today I keep it outdoors unless the pot freezes. One recommended place is under a bonsai shelf.

Thank you for your comment. Cuttings are most likely to root during the spring germination period. Of course, this is not 100% true, but even thick branches can be expected to root.
