Love your work and love the podcast dude. Glad you brought on Susan - One of the few that's actually actively trying to get new blood into the field. If you're ever able to get in Anna Megill or Darby McDevitt, I'd have to send you a beer... Or just take you for one if you're ever in Malaga :)
Thank you so much! Susan is really the best. :) I've talked with Anna, and we can't make it line up yet, but someday! And I am going to put Darby on my list; great recommendation. Thanks again!
The cool thing is that imagination has no limits. The idea of a warrior on a war cat is great, but the idea of the guy telling it is at least as great - precisely, sensibly, and completely sober. I like talking to Jason because he respects the laws of the imaginary world and treats it with the same seriousness as the real one.
Well said!
I need to check her art out
100%!
I thought that was Charles Manson on the thumbnail. Now that would be an unexected NPC!
Lol!
Nice video, and nice channel. You just earned a subscriber. You have all the marks of a great channel, hope to see more interviews like this.
Thank you for the kind words and for tuning in! Welcome aboard!
Great discussion. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!
Who should we get on the show next?
Great interview!

I really like Pathfinder, it has been my favorite system so far. I started with AD&D 2nd and switched to 3.5, then to Pathfinder and I've been playing the system since. I tried some other systems as a player, but I only GM Pathfinder. I love the tactical complexity of the system, me and my friends do martial arts/contact sports and this systems makes the most sense for us.
Yeah, our group made the switch to Pathfinder when 4e came out and fell in love with the system as well. We've been playing 5e for the last couple of years, but are going back to PF(2) when we wrap up the current campaign. We miss the crunchy mechanics too much. :)
@@GeraldFordWriter I know! Crunchy mechanics FTW. I got the PF2 rulebook and really liked it (I even noticed some improvemente were house rules that we had), but we haven't transitioned because we've been playing a Westmarch for 5 years with PF and we are a little bit lazy about switching 😅
I'm very happy to learn that you also put these up on TH-cam-thanks!
Thank you for watching them!
Yeah I just found the new channel I am going to binge watch 😊
Yay! Welcome!
@@TheCornerOfStoryAndGame I am a current student from the Narrative Department's Masterclass 1 and also bumped on Lucas for the same reason. Thank you for this channel!
Bro i thought that was Michael
Thanks Ruty!
"sci fi fiction" wtf was i talking about lol
Lol! Deep, deep stuff buddy.
Oh, foo... I said "setting" when I meant "structure" when I went off about types of genre. Silly me. This was all a ton of fun, anyway. Thanks again for allowing me to run on. :)
You were brilliant! I can't wait to get you back to talk more.
@@TheCornerOfStoryAndGame Next time I'll talk slower... ;)
What did you think of this episode? Are you heading to Gen Con this year?
Lovely interview and great production!
Thank you!
Matt Forbeck is one of my favorites!
Agreed!
I think Scott was thinking of Jenny Nicholson when he mentioned a youtuber who has videos on Evermore Park and the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience.
Oh, thank you! Going to watch her videos now!
Vince really is a good speaker/communicator. Nice stuff.
And a great guy!
Great video!!
I agree that progression in a game needs to feel earned, but there is one exception if there is any sort of building mechanic, for me at least. When I want to learn the system and build spectacular sites. Here I have no qualms in using console commands to spawn building materials. At this point its only about the building.
This is an excellent point! In that case, it is no different than going into Creative Mode in Minecraft so you can exercise those creative building muscles. But what about a building game where the structures serve a gameplay function (e.g. base defence)?
@@TheCornerOfStoryAndGame well in a situation like that, the Minute Men then its back to play to the rules.
Brilliant interview! What a great guy. Respect for Terry Pratchett, Lao Tze, and Hardcore Histories all coming up within a ten minute window..
Thank you for the kind words! Will is a brilliant guy with so much experience and insight to share.
50:38 “What do game designers / creatives all have in common?”
43:00 “What do you see the future of games looking like?”
Sorry if this is a silly question, but where are the Season One episodes available to watch/listen?
Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to clean up the old video I grabbed of Season One interviews - but the audio lives on The Corner of Story and Game Podcast, which you can find where ever you get your podcasts. podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corner-of-story-and-game
This podcast was brilliant. Thoughtful questions and great listening from the host, and clearly a brilliant, thoughtful, and creative mind from Alex. Great insights for storytelling, psychology and just some life inspiration. Thank you so much! I hope you get more subscribers soon. This is a lovely project.
Thank you so much! I'm really having a blast doing it, and I am delighted I get to draw these bits of wisdom from the minds of folks like Alex and then share those gems with the world.
GURPS!!!
Such a fun system!
Chris is one of my Favorite Authors!
A great guy with amazing stories.
Bro looks like Sean Evans from Hot Wings.
LOL!
Wow good stuff
Thanks!
