Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Squeaking Fix
มุมมอง 48Kปีที่แล้ว
My Whirlpool dryer was making an awful squeaking noise whenever it was running. In this video I show how to find the cause of the noise and also how to fix it.

2008 Grand Cherokee Blend Door Repair
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a video based on and complimenting the repair kit sold through www.blenddoorrepair.com.
I just was able to fix my dryer thanks to you! For anyone reading it's nearly the same disassembly for the Whirlpool YWED75HEFW0. Fantastic video, really appreciate you taking the time to make it.
Would have been nice to hear the dryer after you plugged in in at the end
Agreed. It's a silly thing to have forgotten. It's like seeing a ball player hit a homerun and turning the TV off before he gets to home plate. Sorry about that. But I decided to leave it forgotten rather than go through the hassle of editing and re-uploading, especially when it doesn't help you fix your dryer.
This is a great video! Could you please supply the part number of the pulley wheel that you replaced?
Take a look at www.partselect.com. You'll have to type in your model number. I like this site the best so far because it has assembly schematics that allow you to see where the part goes and make sure you're buying the correct one.
Appreciate the video. Model we have was similar enough that we were able to repair this ourselves using this video. You just saved us a ton of headache. Appreciate it.
Great video, thorough. FYI I was able to replace my pulley wheel by removing the lower front cover and replacing the wheel somewhat by feel. I put a mirror in the area to see what was the front of the pulley wheel that I could not see. It was exactly like this video, but I was doing everything from the what looks like the backside. Getting the belt back around the motor and spring loaded pulley took 3 tries, but I completed the whole project in 15 mins. Piece of cake.
Great video, thanks!
How do you know if it is bad drum roller shaft, is the sound similar? I have an electric Whirlpool Duet Sport model.
Mine dryer doesnot have pulley, it has 2 belt
You probably have a different model than what this video covers. if yours is whirlpool, you can probably search on the model number and find a useful video. Good luck!
Good job. I just did this job..... Ill be honest with you guys, do it from the front. Less to fool with. You can get the complete kit with all pulleys, belt, triangles and tensioner pulley for 30 bucks. Replace it all and be done one time. Easy job, hardest part is screwing with the triangles for the pulleys. 30 min job.
Is there a video to show how to do from the front? I have an electric Duet Sport model. Also, where is a good place to buy the kit? Any suggestions, help, is appreciated. I am inexperienced , but want to give it a go to save some money.
@@lynnhahn1343 Yes theres a few.
appliancepartspros has a good one for front service. Just search whirlpool duet dryer noise. Should pop up.
Replaced the idler pulley and now it shuts off after couple minutes of running. Gets hot and spins but shuts off before cycle is complete... Any idea what to check?
1. Are you using an automatic cycle that detects moisture in order to determine whether or not to keep running? If so, try a normal cycle or timed cycle to see if it will keep running. If that works, then you may have a bad moisture sensor. 2. Maybe your door switch is bad. It might be detecting an open door and shutting things off. 3. It might be bad temperature sensor telling the computer it's overheating or not heating at all. 4. It might actually be overheating. That could be from clogged vents/screens. It could be from excess drag on the pulley/belt. Or bad motor bearings. Of all the things I mention above, I've only changed the idler pulley and cleaned lint out of everything. I would imagine the checking/changing a bad sensor or switch is relatively straight forward, so hopefully somebody has already made a helpful youtube video that you can find. Let me know what you figure out. Sorry I'm not able to help more.
@@aviator978 Changed thermal fuse and thermistor. Cleaned the vent out with a big long brush that goes on a drill. Light goes out when door is closed so I'm assuming its not door switch. Im stumped on this one and can't find any videos with my issue. No codes coming up either, even took the vent off and blew it straight out back door so there's no resistance and still shutoff. Where's the moisture sensor and is there a way to test it?
@@brokenbravo83 Does it run when not using an automatic cycle? You're already beyond my experience with this dryer. I wish I could be more helpful.
@@aviator978 I have it set on an normal automatic cycle usually but still shuts off on a timed dry. Started to squeal as it shuts off for a second. Bearings or the wheels on the drum perhaps?
@@aviator978 Im tired of taking this thing apart and I really do appreciate the guidance

Thank you! My model is older and looked different in the back so I went through the front via another video for that part. But your video was crucial because it gave me the view of the belt and idler I needed to be able to take the belt off, replace the idler and put the belt back on. The view is limited from the front. 😅
I went from the front as well. Not that tough, but a mirror helps to see behind the pulley at times. Otherwise is all by feel but very doable.
I need to replace the wiring harness
This video was awesome! Clear, concise and best of all, saved me over $200! Thanks for making and sharing this! 👍👍
no grease on the shaft?
Correct. clean the shaft off and put the new pulley on. No grease.

Great video. I really appreciate how thorough you were. You skipped nothing. Thank you fir sharing. I am not very handy, but this video gives me some confidence I can tackle this.
This is the best! Worked like a charm.
Great Video: What was the parts number on your video. I have the same dryer and I am having a hard time finding the parts on your video. I have to replace the belt too, could you help me with that?
Take a look at www.partselect.com. You'll have to type in your model number. I like this site the best so far because it has assembly schematics that allow you to see where the part goes and make sure you're buying the correct one.
What do I do if the entire inside broke though?
What do you mean? Did the shaft for the blend door break? Are you able to open and close the blend door manually? Or is the shaft broken so bad that the blend door is stuck down (by gravity)?
You removed the belt and spun the drum, please explain how you were supposed to indicate the motor bearings or what the purpose was without the belt? Just curious
When I spun it by hand the first time, the only thing I was checking was the drum wheels/bearings. If it still squeaked when the belt was disconnected, we’d know it was the drum and not the tensioner pulley or the motor bearings. But, you’re right. I didn’t eliminate the possibility of the issue being the motor bearings. I basically moved forward on faith that it was the tensioner pulley and not the motor bearings.
Have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2008 Hemi. Passenger side heat not working. This will cure it?
Probably. Until you get it apart, it's hard to say what's causing the problem. It could be the blend motor is broken. That's an easier fix. Can you hear the blend motor operating when you adjust the passenger temperature? If so, then the gear is probably broken, just like mine.
Huge thanks!!! Fixed my squeaky dryer. Any reason after this fix tho the heat would stop??? That’s my current problem
Not sure. I haven’t had that problem yet. Sorry my friend.
Is yours also a gas dryer? I don't mean to insult you, but if you disconnected the gas to do this project, did you turn it back on?
It’s Christmas Day 2023 & I needed this. Thank you! You’re an excellent teacher
Thank you
Appreciate this video. I was able to go straight to my problem. Thank you!
Hi Mike u think my 07 jgc laredo blend door knob will be similar to yours on glove comp side?
If you have the control knobs like mine, I would expect the same blend door motors. If you're having trouble with the passenger side temperature, that motor should be on the glove compartment side.
@@aviator978cool I’ll be checking on that later today I’ll give u an update ty for the reply sir 👍🏽
Would you happen to have the confirmation email that has the part number of the whirlpool replacement part?
It's silly, but I can't find the order confirmation email. I've searched for whirlpool, pulley, wheel. Nothing comes up. If I remember correctly, when I bought the part, I did a google search on the whirlpool model number. I found somebody that had a schematic with part numbers.
My 05 gjc doesnt leak any water into the cabin, but would this method help my AC blow colder? It is ok at the moment nut not great.
It might help. But, I would guess the blend door is not your issue. When mine was broken, it was stuck on full cold. Gravity pulls the door to the extreme cold position. If yours is broke like mine was, then you should have no problems with cooling. If however, there's something wrong with the calibration of the blend door motor, then it might not be moving the door all the way to the closed position. You may need to do some googling on blend door calibration and see if that helps. But, my guess is you're low on freon... which means it's leaking somewhere.
@@aviator978 it's not Freon, it's r134a refridgerent
@@wkjeeping9053 r134a is a type of freon.
Thank you for this video! My dryer is back to working as normal.

Thank you my dryer is fixed!!
thanks so much followed your steps exactly and it was very easy and straightforward.
_18 years of great use with mine until this exact problem. Thank GOD for you._
Do you know if the 2011-2019 jgc can mount the tire to the underside like this one
No, I don't know.
I have a problem with the dryer that looks like the one on the video that you show. The lights come on, dial in the instruments are set but when I hold down to press start. It does not start to turn on. The only difference is that the sensing light comes on. Any help
Sorry, I haven't had to tear into the panel, so I can't offer any help there.
You should ck the dryer board it's on the upper either left or right side and it's prob fried, notorious for this problem and if u ck on internet it will tell you how to fix it
What about the flapper that controls the air flow. My jeep 08 liberty doesn't blow air out the front vents. I hit a bump one day and since, no air flow to the vents. The floor and defrost work fine. I have tried manually moving the part you are working on that controls the flapper, it still won't open the front air vents. (Actuators are good and function) I think the flapper might be stuck possibly, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get to it to check it. Any help would be appreciated.
This video is specifically for the flapper that regulates temperature. There's another actuator and flapper that controls which vent the air goes through. I'm not sure where to find it on the liberty though. Sorry.
Great video, simple, fast, to the point...
One of the unknow quantities here, is if your actuator is not the cause of the problem, this may not be your solution. It's good to have a scanner of some sort, you may find some hidden codes that don't trigger a mil light, like the blend door actuator circuit open, or something similar. You could have a bad ground, short to ground somewhere, broken wire, etc. I highly recommend checking into it before going through all the effort of changing the part.
Maybe so. I wasn't aware that blend door issues would throw a code. Either way, it's not too difficult to remove the glove box and listen for or feel if the actuator is operating.
Would it throw a code????
Awesome video great help. What was the part number for the pulley?
Excellent demonstration, thank you so much
Looks amazing!!
Best video ever
Very helpful - thanks.
Awesome thanks for sharing!!!
I think the supplied drill bit is a hair too small. It was so tight screwing in, it broke the new repair actuator. I even ran the bit through the hole a few times to make sure the hole was clean.
is this just for hot air on the passenger side or both heat and ac?
Both. If for some reason your blend door won’t move, it’ll either be stuck on cold or stuck on hot.
@@aviator978someone else have this video but his blender actuator knob just slides right off and could be easily replaced w a new knob no drill bits needed 🤔 I ordered this part today from Amazon $9 but I’m checking my 07 jgc laredo tom first thing in the morning if exactly what kind I have or which is broken I hope mine is the easy knob that slides right off 🤞🏽im praying 🙏🏽🫣 I have a single heat zone n it was clicking forever but now clicking is gone and heat adjustments all went away as well
