The Life of Quackers and Jacks - Rouen ducks
🦆🦆#Ducks move in
Some history on the breed. Rouen Ducks were breed in France and can come in different sizes. Ours are 6-8 lbs. Prized for their meat they also are shown for their colors. It is ideal to always have a pair at minimum or more so they don't get lonely. They are very social. Like with all ducks you have to be careful Male to Female ratio. Same with only Males. Ducks can be good pets: good for the homestead.🦆🦆
Our Story: We had two Mallards, Drake/Hen kept coming every season. We wanted to get another pet, decided on two male Rouen Ducks. A dog might have been easier? Ducks are like several animals in responsibility and need research. These two are spoiled and an adventure and can't imagine not having them around.🦆🦆
Friends says let other people see them. Well figured try sharing our ongoing adventure. Please bare with us, we both have no clue what we are doing. Always trying to improve.🤞👍🙂🙂🦆🦆

Q&J : Wahoo Spring is Back #ducks
Quackers and Jacks : This is the boys 1st spring as adults in 2024 and are they happy to have more sunshine back after a long winter. They can't wait to get into the mud and water and have some fun in the sun. 🦆🦆
They have had to have a higher fat diet due to not being able to free range as much. So they go thru more duck feed. Now that spring is back they can have more variety of things. The first chance the boys got to spend a long day in the mud and muck they were so happy.🦆🦆

Q&J : Happy 1st Birthday. The boys made it a whole year into this world and they had a good day even thought the weather was cold. Time flew buy so fast. Q&J : The boys are enjoying toys & a movie. The condo is getting changes for signs of spring. The swimmy pool is back and less straw in the Condo. Quackers &Jacks : Are having to deal with the long winter nights. The days are mostly sunny and cold, but nice out. 🤣Yep they came up looking for a treat. They wanted lettuce and watermelon. They actually don't like bread. Most ducks do, not these two. They will drop it on the ground and complain.
