I Blew Up The XR650L…. Rear Shock! | First Off-Road Test | Parts Failure
I’ve pushed off riding this bike for almost 8 months because I wanted it to be closer to being a completed project. I decided it was time to actually rip this thing and it resulted in the rear shock blowing out! All good. Time for a full suspension rebuild. It was awesome to ride and I can’t wait to see how it feels with new/better suspension! Thanks for watching!

Little dudes first race car! I was hesitant to get this for my son as the recommended age is 3-5 year old, but at 14 months he is having a blast! The selling point for me was the ability for me to control the car via remote control. If you have any questions about the product please ask. So far it has been great! Work always sucks! Haha. But it allows me to ride my bikes so I guess it’s a fair trade
Don’t hit the Aussies! 😃 Looking forward to seeing what suspension you put in 👍🏻
The plan is RachTech with the gold value system!
Is the battery accessible? Curious if you’d be able to swap with a charged up spare
@@peelegw The battery is located under the seat. You can get to it by removing one screw and two clips. The manual gives a good guide for replacement. It’s not really set up for quick battery swaps. I think with a little handy work you could swap out the battery for drill battery setup like I’ve seen on other similar karts. Maybe I could do that in a future video 👍🏻
How's the bag after some use? I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Gnome Tank bag - my last ride with my water on my back for 9hrs killed my shoulders.
@@LBRides this one is fine, just a little small. If I got a new one I’d definitely go bigger! If I’m not mistaking they make a tank bag with a water bag and straw
@ yes sir and that’s the one I’m getting.
I'm not sure about the 605's so it will interesting to see what you think of them. Dunlop doesn't make one wide enough for my KLR (17" rear) so I tired a 4.60x17 for a few miles but it was just too narrow so I took it off right away. I really like the D606 or Tusk Dsport rear paired with a Pirelli MT21 front for a dirt oriented ride. Yes that combo is loud and lumpy but it does surprising well on the road and is pretty durable. The Tusk Waypoint is pretty similar to the D605 and I used those on a week long trip (about 2000 miles) to Colorado last summer and they did great. They might be my go to tire for awhile and are budget friendly.
I appreciate the insight. I don’t have a lot of experience with dual sport tires. Hoping to get the suspension done soon and really test out the bike. I’ve had it for too long without really getting to ride it!
Subbed as I am a fellow xr650L guy myself. What exact tank sticker is that on XROnly website?
@ they came with the bike when bought it. If I find the answer I’ll let you know. They’re old, not sure if they’re still sold!
Is that cylinder head standard? Looks wider/fatter than standard.
@@rosshanley8398 it is not. It has a “big fin” head. Which is great, but has created some clearance issues with the clutch cable and IMS fuel tank
@ thank you for that. I realised what the head was after I posted my comment. They’re hard to get those heads. I may get one myself through XR’s Only, if they still make them. Their site says they make them to order. I also have a brand new IMS 4.0 gallon tank awaiting fitment. I have a new NICECNC oil cooler going on it in a few weeks. I subscribed to your channel because you’re providing good information. Regards to you.

The best thing you had in the room to remove those stickers was sitting right on the floor…..WD-40 spray on a corner and let set a minute or two and once you get it started spray every inch or two as you peel the sticker away the let it soak and peel soak and peel a paint scraper comes in handy on dried vinyl stickers but usually not necessary after the sticker is gone just keep rubbing in WD with a rag until all the glue residue is gone Wd-40 will not harm any plastic surface or paint or skin
@@Flattop7998 I’ll give that a try next time
I used a propane torch to soften them, pulled them off and took lacquer thinner took the glue right off then rubbed mother’s metal polish on and used scotch brite and go with the brushed grain back and forth until it turned black then take a terry cloth towel and before the black dries rubbing back and forth with the grain to polish and then use a clean part of the towel to rub a shine on it you should be able to see the reflection of your fingers.

Okay, I had a little mishap with my chain, so I'm freshening things up. I'd heard about the counter sprocket issues due to narrow sprocket when I purchased the XRL new, so I bought a Fritzco from the start. However, when I removed the old chain I noticed quite a bit of free-play with this sprocket. So, doing a little research I came across your vid and decided to give the KKBike sprocket a go! Shipping: I'm a ways off the beaten path and I received the KKBike sprocket in four freaking days...wow! Can't get anything from the US in this little of time! Quality: On-target! Splines were nice and tight! Even had to tap the sprocket a bit with a rubber mallet. Absolutely no slack! I compared the alignment and slack with the factory, Fritzco, and PBR models. The KKBike sprocket was better in every aspect. Now, hoping it lasts!

Just one critique is that most of your video is you saying “I’m going to do this” and then cutting to after it’s already done. For example showing you pulling the chain off after removing the link is less helpful than showing you taking the link off. Same for the stripped screws.
