Televes SmartKom auto scan and manual adjustment. This shows a little bit about the adjustment on the Televes SmartKom unit using the Android Bluetooth phone app known as A Suite. A Suite is a very good software app and allows you to adjust signal levels and also turn the power off and on to your preamps if needed.
Televes SmartKom Primer, Initial Setup
มุมมอง 15Kปีที่แล้ว
SmartKom is an amazing device that allows you to combine antennas without having phase cancellation issues. Phase cancellation is a big problem when you have bad FB ratios that allow signals to sneak through unintended antennas . this causes more than one signal to be seen at the tuner and confuses the tuner and sometimes cancels the station. The video was created to help others set up the Smar...

      The type of antenna used doesn't really matter. This device lets you pick which TV channels you want to read from each antenna. Then it equalizes all of the signals, and amplifies them 25db by default.

    What does the Level 25 signifiy?

    • @gamechannel1271
      @gamechannel1271 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok, I plugged this thing into a spectrometer. Out of the box, at "level 0", this device equalizes the signals of all TV channels so they all reach around the same power range. In my case, at level 0, each TV channel has a power of around -60dBm straight from the smartkom power supply. Increasing the level to 25 amplifies the signal of all channels by 25dB, bringing all channels to around the -35dBm range.

    I already have a Televes 2 antenna input agc preamp. I wonder if the amp could be bypassed. I put a metal roof on, and the huge outdoor antenna only has two openings on the north to grab a signal, so I need an attic antenna no longer than 3.5 feet if I replace the one in the attic. If I move it outside, I need the smallest, most artistic antenna possible. My current attic antenna is being supplemented with the MaxV, which is the only off the shelf antenna which is not a monstrosity. The infinity shape hangs at the vent level and looks like a family crest, like it belongs there. But I can see mounting this one 3feet below the roof top, hiding in the back behind the chimney. However, there may be cheaper similar antennas without the agc since I already have one, with 2 antenna input.

    If you call Televes directly for help the it guys talks down to you like you don’t know what your doing. Now if Televes is selling this SmartKom product thinking it’s going be installed by expert professional installers everywhere they are HIGHLY mistaken. Most people that play with OTA stuff either do it as a hobby or can’t afford a cable tv bill due to being on a budget. So how or why would they hire a professional installer for this product? Televes needs to make a “How to install for dummies” for both Smartkom and Asuite. I’m pretty good at this install stuff and this product is a pain in the ass to setup and there NO help out there due to it being such a new product. Mine is getting return returned until Televes supports there product install more then a 2 minute generic video. It’s a shame because it looks like it could of been a great product. Great channel here BTW. I’m subscribed 👍👍

    Just purchased and installed one of these, and wanted to share my experience in case it can help others. So after installing, I initially used the auto-scan button on the unit and it found less channels than I was getting before. It was also assigning them to the wrong antennas (or at least, what I would consider to be the wrong antennas). I was about accept that I had just wasted $200. However!!! I then downloaded the SmartKom app. It wasn't clear to me how to connect the app to the unit, but it appears you just need to be near the white power unit. There's seemingly no bluetooth paring involved. If the app doesn't find the unit, unplug it and plug it back in again. I then pulled up the Antennas Direct map for my area and went through it line by line, manually assigning all the channels to my three antennas based on their directions. I uploaded this configuration to the unit -- and Voila -- 21 new channels! And almost all my channels (both old and new) seem rock-solid now. So my advice is definitely DO NOT rely on the auto-scan feature. Enter your channels manually. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of the app, and really only needs to be done once. I'm loving my SmartKom now!

    Bluetooth app works but is not easy to connect to the antenna selector until you understand app was poorly written. Just turn off antenna preamp at power unit and then back on. Play with app buttons until it works. Good luck it does work. Bluetooth is located inside of power unit and automatically turns off after a short period of time.

    • @majid_us
      @majid_us 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the Bluetooth is located in the SmartKOM itself. I had to go outside, close to the unit (after turning off/on its power unit, which the app also mentioned to do) and it was finding the unit but timing out during connection, but finally it connected.

I have two Televes Dinova boss mix pointing two different market antennas nearby, I get all the way through where I can get Televis Smartkom to show the channels it has picked up from each antenna... but when I goto hit scan TV channels to my Tablo DVR receiver... worse than a single antenna? Only gets a few channels, less than before using the Smartkom? Makes no sense, as I can see all the extra channels, and indivdually both antennas are aimed where they need to be... So why doesn't Tablo seem to like the Smartkom output? EDIT - I ended up sending back the first Smartkom, second one works fine...

To my surprise when I scanned the channels again after hooking it up in the Channels app on my appletv I lost over 40 channels. I adjusted the anetenna and rescanned. This time 0 channels. Hoping you might know the answer to this question and be able to answer. There are no instructions for the A-Suite. So, I’ve had to exercise my best judgement. When you manually adjust the levels of the individual channels, once that’s done do you hit “adjust” or do you just hit “send configuration”? This company makes a good product although I found the smartkom isn’t fool-proof and required quite a bit of manual adjustment. I returned one smartkom because it didn’t scan channels on the second antenna. Nearly the same thing happened again with the exchange as it only picked up one channel. I also lost two weak channels I normally receive. I found when and if you get instructions for anything with this company, they are always incomplete and written for techies. Their responses aren’t always helpful and occasionally you get that engineering type that speaks imprudently and doesn’t know how to deal with people. Antennaman’s advice has lately become compromised by his ability to make money off his videos and his sometimes temperamental autistic-spectrum laden replies. I was actually owed an apology for his last reply to me. All the comments on his videos praising him have become annoyingly silly. I consequently unsubscribed from his channel and removed it from suggested videos. (Edited to remove proper names and company names because the bots suppressed the reply)

It will never reconnect until you do a Smartcom power-down reset. After the reset, my phone will find it again and everything works again. No big deal if you will be satisfied with the initial setup but annoying if you want to play around with adding or removing channels.

    • @bobh.4580
      @bobh.4580 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard that complaint from others also. Even Televes recommend a reboot when this happens. Yet, I never have had a problem with my Bluetooth connection between my phone and my SmartKom. I'm not sure what's going on there if it's a phone compatibility issue or what. I don't know if my Samsung phone has better Bluetooth or my SmartKom Bluetooth radio is better. Regardless, once it's set up, unless they had a completely new RF channel we should be golden. Because I do a lot of antenna experiments, I'm constantly rescanning and changing channel assignments and that's how I've noticed that I really never have to reboot my SmartKom to re-establish a Bluetooth connection. I read somewhere that that's a power saving feature to shut the Bluetooth radio off. I still don't understand why I don't have to do that every time I want to reconnect. Thank you for your input.

    • @bobh.4580

      Hi Andrew, you are correct. The DB8e allows the Turning of each panel in different directions. Yes you can see in the video the closable combiner Box, which is well designed by the way. Problem I'm illustrating here is how to avoid phase cancellation caused by the collisions of unwanted signals coming through each unintended antenna. The SmartKom fixes that by blocking those unwanted signals and enhancing the wanted signals.

We've had one of those big square antennas pointing to the north stations. We could pick them up at night, but not during the day. The south east stations came in, no problem. Recently though, the south east stations were getting weaker and weaker, so I turned the antenna a smidge to it could pick them up better, but then lose signal on the north ones. Long was to ask, but I'm looking this same antenna. My question is, are you picking up stations from the opposite way your antenna is pointing? (if there are any)
