Even when frank says fuck him, his face says otherwise. And he has to turn around to Joel and look strong. Joel sees through his bullshit. And knows he is hurt when he says “tough deal” when they part. Frank left the note like that to lessen Bill’s loss. Because he knows how Bill would handle it. Frank also did not want him to see him infected. He tried to get the battery for Bill and failed. And all this time Bill just thought Frank left him. Joel is the same in many ways. He does not allow himself to grieve. His watch is his heart. And it’s broken. When “I’m good” turns to “thank you”, he changes for the better. Read the letter that you picked up when Ellie found the flashlight when you dove in the water under the stairs. You will see connections to Frank. And Tess. Both were the anchors of Joel and Bill’s lives. The only difference between the show and game is how Frank died. Either way it was Frank’s choice and he did it to save Bill from seeing him suffer. They were very much in love.

I recommend playing Plague Tale Requiem. It is a very brutal and Beautiful game. The realism is beautiful in that game. It got nominated for Game of year at the game awards. It was up there with God of War Ragnarok and Elden Ring for top 3 games to win game of the year. Plague Tale Requiem is a great game to play
