Here are a series of films about my mum, Mary Cane-Honeysett which capture glimpses of her extraordinary life and character as a mother, teacher and artist. She struggled silently throughout her life with vision issues and a curvature of her spine due to Spondylolisthesis. It may have restricted her ability to do many things but it didn't deter her from her life-long passion to paint. She created works of art that captured the beauty of old, broken buildings that many called ugly. Even with her poor vision, she taught me how to see the world differently, to really observe, and to look up, not down. I hope you enjoy these films. @MaryCaneHoneysett

"MY MUM PROVED TO BE MY TOUGHEST SUBJECT" - And here are the outtakes to prove it.
While making the documentary "Royal Academy" about my mother and her brilliant paintings, filming didn't always go smoothly. At first, she didn't want to be fimled then, after agreeing, she wanted to direct. Naturally, we butted heads. #artdocumentary #artist #marycanehoneysett #real #authentic

Well dun 😊
Ohhhhh … I wish your mum could have lived forever just so I could listen to her. I am a 73 year old painter and I so wish I could have known her. And I really agree with her philosophies of the art world, especially the Dutch being the greatest and the modern crap being rubbish. I may have already said this because I have no memory now either, but the best scene that you shot was of your mother walking out of the Academy in her new outfit. She was so tiny among all of those tall arty farty people amongst those God awful huge abstract paintings.. She was the small gem walking through just like the child in Rembrandt’s Nightwatch . Thank you, Tony!!
I love your perspective on her! Thank you.
brilliant, just brilliant and the paintings are superb. Long may you continue.
Thank you so much 😀
Marvellous paintings and marvellous film
Oh I loved this ✨ Encore 💛
Thank you!
I loved watching this entertaining film, following the journey of your very talented mum. What a determined lady, being self taught and on a mission. I hope her art lives on and is recognised as an important record of Fulhams old buildings.
Thank you. Yes, I hope so, too.
What an inspirational lady...l absolutely love her artwork.
This truly hitt home for me and is a lobely tribute to your mu's talent and her essence. I live in London myself, but in Los Angles looking after my mum whom has dementia and suffered a stroke. I thank you for sharing this and making this film. Absolutely beautiful work your mum creates.
Thank you, Henry. So sorry about your mum. You’re a good son to take care of her. Hope the fires aren’t impacting you both.
@@TonyCane-Honeysett We are safe but so cal is in high alert watchung your video made me a little home sick. Hope you and your mum are well.
Hello Mary and Tom really enjoyed your film, Thank you so much I will watch again Love Pauline
loved it 🥰
What a jaw dropping amazing artist. You look at many of her picture's and think they are real photograghs. The attention to detail. Unbelievable ❤
Has your Mom ever held her own exhibition? My Dad showed his work over several days in our Towns library. She's wonderful.
No, sadly she has never had a one-woman show. I’m trying to find a venue to permanently house her collection somewhere in London but it’s proving to be rather difficult!
She's great isn't she, just brilliant
She certainly was! Thank you.
Loved this. You and your mum have made my day. Thankyou :)
Glad you found us!
Fantastic love the florist ❤
Nellie Warner is definitely a fan favorite!
LOVE her work! I used to live in Fulham! ❤
I love that - a fellow Fulhamite!
@ and I grew up in Richmond so know Kingston riverside so well. Your Mother and I were practically neighbours. I was in Fulham Park Gardens. I wish I’d met her!
So cross some of the works chosen were not a patch on your works...ie..canvas painted blue and masking tape removed shocked the effort in yours just wonderful xx
I know. It’s infuriating isn’t it?!
Wow just wow your art firstly made me smile and then amazed at the details brilliant ❤❤❤❤
What an amazing woman, did you keep all of her art work? It is wonderful that you have this beautiful record of your mum. How precious.💓
My mum left all her paintings to us three kids. I’m currently looking for a venue in London to house a permanent exhibition of all her works.
Amazing woman, beautiful artwork 💞
I will never tire of watching your films about your dear Mom. It's about the same person, the same story but a completely different film! (at min: 1:56 p.m., is this a photograph or painting of Mary Cane-Honeysett?) I love when you say: "She brought her love of bricks across the pond" (sounds like a huge suitcase). I am very touched and happy that the algorithm brings me each new version of your film about your painter mother! I know from your other films, she’s a hell of a character! I wish you and her the absolute best for 2025!
Good fun , thankyou 😁
Shout out for Drury bricks!
Lovely story, thank you for sharing your mother's life.
You are so welcome.
What an incredible woman.
This film is a masterpiece. Your narrative is perfect, not too much, no overbearing background music, and her spirit shines through your work. Thank you so much!
Thank you.
do watch the other movies her son made about her. They are worth being watched. to, witty and sparlkly !
I love the tightness!!!!!!!
I love her artwork! Inspiring story
Amazing artist, and a lovely story. I wish she could have continued , her work is beautiful.
Framing with a miter saw isn’t real the way it’s done . They are normally cut with a guilotene. But roughly about £15 hundred to buy second hand.
My mum never had that kind of money. She could barely afford that old miter saw!
Her line accuracy is very skilful.some of the best artists in the world are self taught. And a lot started at art colleges left due to being influenced down a one horse track.
The art world is corrupted. Many great painter is overlooked for very poor works under the guise of it’s in the eye.
Bittersweet. The paintings are beautiful - as is her life. Such joy and an amazing tribute. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Great documentary! Love this artist too. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your Mom. The luckiest are those who want to do something and can do something. I believe elders should be looked after better, it’s expensive but maybe they would do better in care.
Your documentaries brought tears to my eyes but this warmed my heart in quite another way! Simply wonderful!
God bless her, ❤
A remarkably talented Painter. I love her love of bricks and buildings. Thank you for sharing her story; she is truly inspirational.
Beautiful lady. Beautiful artist ❤
What a beautiful story, and a wonderful son for telling it😊
This is such a lovely tribute to this amazing woman! Thank you for sharing it. This is truly an inspirational video.
You're very welcome.
The original George Shaw.... Mary, you just became my favourite artist - 50% what you do, 50% of who you are.
🤌🪄🎨🖌🪟🖼ARTIST👑🪄🪄🪄🪄❤️
Nice, I have been making art in various media in a wide range of skill levels my whole life. At 54 I figured out how to paint the way I've always wanted. (mostly) This lady is an inspiration
Thankyou Tony for your filming of your Mum's journey. Your kind encouragement and support to get her to try painting again. She had such a determined spirit, sense of humour and inherant Hope within her throughout all the adversity and challenges she faced. What a role model and humble genius she was. Your beautiful capturing of her life story in film and gentle music is wonderful Thankyou.
Pleased you watched and enjoyed it!
Beautiful paintings about life. She created time capsules of a certain era that will hold onto these moments of time forever. We can see everyday life being lived thru her wonderful, artistic eyes. Like a camera clicking away - taking snapshots and snippets of the world around her. Really lovely to see.
Wow, your mum is amazing as is your film .what a fantastic determination and what an amazing talent. I was blown away by the detail and your mum's right bricks are beautiful as are her paintings of them.i love that someone is putting them down in a permanent memory. Thank you for making the film too your mum is a down to earth delight.❤
