I saw them at the Orpheum Theatre for the 25th anniversary tour, final show, and he was very funny.

They played Blackrose Immortal by request in Istanbul which I hated. It deprived me of Deliverance. Whoever shouted that song for an hour, fuck him.

This guy does some of the best crowd interaction in the freaking business. Every time I went to see them they played so tight and Micheal is like a stand up comedian almost. Truly amazing stuff, go see Opeth live if you are able. You won't regret it.

Mikael Åkerfeldt will never be poor because he will always have a job: when he retires from music (a sad day it will be), he will easily be able to become the greatest comedian ever.

I've been to a few Opeth shows and Mikael always makes sure things are entertaining and fun. We're all there to have a good time and his humor lends a lot to that.

Great interview. Piggy was absolutely right. Their albums rewarded repeat listening. They're not always immediately gettable, but age extremely well. Also, Away makes some prescient assessment of Soundgarden and Faith No More influence on 90s music. Very nice.
