Oh is the audio still bad? I made adjustment to the noise gate, compressor and limiter. I did test something out earlier today with the mic placement. I might need to adjust the setting some more. Hope that will help. Time to test that out on a new video. Thank you for your feedback.

Thankfully TH-cam is a great platform for users to voice their opinion, whether it is positive or negative. It would be nice if Selaco releases on GOG . I am a big proponent for DRM Free games after realizing how easy companies can just take away your games/purchases at a snap of their fingers. Ubisoft with The Crew. Sony shutting down Funimation service and people that made purchases on it no longer will have access to them. There are still a lot of good new titles but I also prefer a lot of older titles nowadays, currently playing Castlevania Dawn Of Sorrow and having a grand time getting lost.

One of the dev came out and clarify that they did not advertise or work with the show. They could of said thank you "The Real Game Awards for the shoutout even though we are not affiliated with the show in anyway, for any new players that are going to experience the game for the first time, we hope you will enjoy it. Thank you for your support" something along those lines would have been fine in my opinion. If the devs want to distance themselves from the award show, it is their choice. I don't agree with the thinking that if a youtuber/event talks good about your product and showcase it to their viewers, that you automatically endorses everything that youtuber/event does. @@SomeSimpleNumbers The thing is if you thank them, you are implying "I like you guys enough for the shout out that I'm going to say thank you for it." They did not say anything bad besides "the more I look into them, the more I want to distance myself" which is understandable for a game award show that scammed its audience and promoted grifter youtubers. They just distanced themselves without thanking the "real" game awards, and they have no obligation to thank them and they probably shouldn't given the sketchy people running the show.

@ I don't know if I agree with the implication. How is showcasing a game and telling the viewers if you like what you see about Selaco support the game grifting. I don't think The Real Game Awards will make any money from Selaco sales. I don't think The Real Game Awards is scamming the audience by showcasing a good indie game. If the argument is that The Real Game Awards make money from the event and that is them taking advantage of their audience. I would argue The Game Awards also make money from their show through ticket sales, advertisement and sponsors. Why is it ok for one to be able to make money and the other not? The developers are certainly allow to distance themselves from the show if they want to, I am arguing that they could have done it in a better way. The devs of Selaco made a really good game looking at the steam ratings. I would imagine that they want to sell the game to as many people as possible and have their work appreciated. Even from people they do not align politically. That is just my opinion and you may disagree and say no it is not worth it because it is money from people that are this or that.

@@SomeSimpleNumbers The thing that makes the "real" game awards a scam but the actual game awards just a mildly bad show is the fact that the actual game awards does not make you pay for voting and the fact the actual game awards uses it's money to attempt to improve the show rather than just show a basic live stream. The actual game awards rents a big venue, gets a lot of famous celebrities and does a lot of marketing, so you can tell they are spending they're money. Meanwhile the "real" game awards is just a livestream with some friends that costed 30,000. You could have easily rented a venue or paid a couple celebrities with that money, but all you got was a powerpoint level show. He blatantly pocketed the money from his audience and provided an embarrassing product. And I don't buy the "they should have distanced themselves better". They didn't say a bad word about the "real" game awards besides saying it looked like something they wanted to distance themselves from, which isn't a political opinion, it's fucking obvious to anyone that a 30,000 dollar powerpoint presentation livestream looks sketchy and should be avoided. I mean the anti woke crowd attacked Anita Sarkeesian for crowdfunding some youtube videos, but she only asked for 6 000 and at least spent some of the money she raised on the videos but everyone attacked her for it. Then a much more egregious example comes along but it's fine because it's anti woke. If I made an indie game, and somebody made an awards show called "the representation awards show" and charged people for a powepoint slide deck, I would distance myself even though I like representation in gaming, I don't want to be associated with grifters stealing money and pretending it's fine because politics.

I also think online discourse has gotten worse over the years especially the last 5-10. I have nothing against Selaco and I hope the game will do well, it seem like a good game and majority of players who played it like it. We will have to wait and see how things will play out.

Never played Ion Fury and my first impression from the art style makes me think of Half Life 1. Everyone has different taste. Some people like the modern looking style while others do not. I am currently playing and older game Castlevania Dawn Of Sorrow From The Dominus Collection and I think that art style is awesome.

It is your right to spend your hard earned money however you want.

I think majority of people just want to play good games and not have companies take any side. Remain Apolitical and just sell the customer a good product/service. You may think the reason is silly but people are allow to spend their hard earned money however they wish. Some people may be more likely to buy the game now from this event while others will not. As for people's opinions on an author's politics, it does irk me a bit, we've gone from; "I don't care about your politics, just keep it out of your games" to "I'm glad you've made an apolitical game, but I don't like your politics" It seems like the (culture) war was won, but the soldiers just keep going further and further and taking new land, if you catch my drift. But all the same, the developer was unprofessional, and was going to upset at least a few people by being so, so I guess it's somewhat of a mute point.

Maybe the answer is sometimes a simple one. I am truly shock that a good amount of developers do not seem to be aware that they are working for a company trying to make money. Even if you don't care about the company at least care about your own job and doing what you can to not lose it. The self sabotage is alarming to me. Bioware is in shambles right now. A lot of people are getting laid off especially the writing team. Devs are allow to make games that have a lot of political/modern ideology in it. Thanks for letting me know. I am using the default settings for the noise gate on OBS. It could be the push to talk setting if the microphone sound cut off in the beginning or the end. I can never seem to get the audio quality right. Been following tutorials on youtube for OBS audio settings. Compare to my very first video, I think it is better now. I could be wrong. If you or anyone have advice to help improve audio on OBS I would gladly try them out. I am using a condenser microphone as well and I do have to speak close to the microphone

@@SomeSimpleNumbers one example is 0:50 - 0:54 "and one of the game(s), is salaco" missing an S, was it cutt off? 1:19 - 1:24 everything here sounds strange with the words. so having listened again, i do think you have something applied too aggressively. it's making the speech harder to understand.

Well I can believe that they may have been pressure on Bluesky to look at the people that are promoting their game. Bluesky is left leaning and that is no secret. I wish devs all the best and they seem to have develop a good game. I would imagine they would want more people to play it even if it from people that don't agree with them.

It is up to the person themself to decide whether they want to support a product/game or not. I don't agree with the sentiment that if you are a business and sell a product to someone that you endorse all the person ideas. It is illogical in my opinion. Vote with your wallet, it is your right.

A lot of these terms have been misused to the point where it lost meaning and weight. I see it too. Things are quite divided online. It is unfortunate that it had became this bad. It use to not be as bad back in the day.

His show is not political, it is cultural. Talking about the culture does involve talking about things that are political (DEI), but others who you yourself like do the same thing. I am interested to see how The Real Game Awards progress moving forward. It is a good thing that people from all backgrounds can come together to celebrate games for the love of it regardless of political beliefs. We need more of that not less.

The Real Game Award is a reaction to The Game Awards. The show itself is an award show. I did not see anything political when it was showcasing the game Selaco. I will admit the show did take jabs at the Mainstream Games Media including journalists and I can understand why. Games Media has been at odd with the players for some time now and I do like some of the work Games Journalist do. They can do good work but they shoot themselves in the foot at times. Overall the show is neutral. You may disagree because you don't like the Host and the person who is running the show. I don't know anything about Side Scrollers political belief and it really does not matter to me. My main point is toward the Devs and that they should not be saying no to free promotion because they are in the business of making games. Instead use the money people buying their game from the free promotion and put it into a cause they believe in or help them continuing making games. Review bombing do not work on great games. Nightmare Kart seem to fit the category with a 97% overwhelming success on steam. I think people are giving youtuber too much credit. They can't get their audience to like a bad game. I doubt they will be able to convince many people to buy The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The devs are allow to reject and not want the free promotion but I don't think it is a good business move. Are they going to keep rejecting customers that do not have the same political belief system as them from buying their game? Potential shrinking down your customer base by half. The Real Games Awards is an example I use because it is relevant. What if a gaming youtube channel with a big following plays and promote an Indie Dev game. The TH-cam Channel has different political views than the Devs. Are the devs going to say no to having their games seen by hundred of thousands if not millions of people? Indie Games are not seen by the mass audience unless it blows up. It needs youtuber and content creators to play and promote their game. It does not make logical sense to me why they would not want to sell their game to as many people as possible. I don't know if your analogy with the punk bar will work in this case. Selaco is a single player game. There is no interaction with other players in the game. You will are probably referring to the subreddits and forums interaction that may occur. Those are usually community driven. I don't think it is bad to have a mixed of viewpoint whether you are on the left or right. Maybe I have been on the internet too long that these things don't bother me. However as a Dev, do you not want as many people to play your games as possible? Yes I think A Developer first goal should be focus on selling their game and keeping their business running. At the very least keep their own job. If a business is not making money, they will eventually have to shut down. This is just the reality of things. If you are a business, you will have to think about making money and staying in business. It is the most logical take in my opinion. Isn't the person who help develop Nightmare Kart Trans? People didn't care and gave the game overwhelming positive review because it is a great game. If the next Halo was made by a group of LBGTQ+ people and it turn out to be amazing I would say it is amazing. Baldur gates 3 had a lot of LGBTQ stuff in it and is it one of the best game of the decade. It even won Game Of The Year in The Game Awards. Also one of my favorite story game is Life Is Strange the first one and it had a lot of LGBTQ elements in them. I didn't care because it was such a great game and these element was carefully crafted into the story well. What people have a problem is ham fisted ideology like Dragon Age The Veilguard. In my opinion it hurts LGBTQ representation because it was executed so poorly and did not help with the sale of the game. It made LGBTQ representation worse in my opinion. People will be remembering the game because of Taash and not for positive reason in my opinion. I even defended that game in hope it would prove the doubters wrong but it prove them right. You may dislike Side Scrollers for whatever reason and that is fine. No one is obligated to like or dislike anyone. If you think The Real Game Awards is politically motivated that is fine as well. I am not trying to change your opinion. My main point is about Indie Games and what I think their stance should be when it comes to selling their games. That's the whole point of it- to launder terrible politics with a seemingly uncontroversial event. Now people are going, "Aw shucks I don't see nothin wrong with the award show. I should check out more from Stuttering Craig and Sidescrollers." With the presumption of legitimacy only to be inundated with the most despicable material committed to video. I'm a black guy working on my own indie game project. I literally could care less if people who are racist towards me buy my game. In fact I would see it as a win. People who hate me are literally giving me their money! Plus it's a way to show those people that maybe people like me aren't as bad as they thought since I created something they love so much.

The main goal of the video is Indie Gaming Companies should not be focus on politics and who they are selling their games to. They should sell their game/product to as many people as possible. So what if a customer buys your game and have a different political viewpoint from you. If a youtube channel with a big following plays your game and promote it, as an indie company you should not be saying no because the youtube channel don't think the same political as you. Well you can but that is not a smart business move in my opinion. I don't know what Side Scrollers political views are and it does not matter to me. Also I never spoke to them so I don't what they are like. I just find it really strange an indie companies would reject free promotion like that. I watched the whole show for The Real Game Awards and it was an award show. I will admit it also did take jabs at the Mainstream Games Media and I understand why. Mainstream Games Media have been butting head with the players for some time now. My video is really not about Side Scrollers but aim towards Indie Devs and advising them to sell their games to as many people as possible regardless of political beliefs. @@SomeSimpleNumbers I get what you're saying, however when a gaming channel that is more focused on extreme politics than actual games gets affiliated with you, that's not free promotion, that's getting inadvertently pushed into said politics. The only way out was to shut the metaphorical door and say "No, I want nothing to do with you." Think about it this way, if a more extreme group like say... the KKK were to praise your channel, would you really want that? It would attract more viewers to your channel, but those viewers will harm your image to the rest of the world and drive more viewers away. It would be the same case if a communist group did the same thing.

Unfortunately that's not true, Sun Haven a once beloved game, has fallen under fire for how the developer has been treating its staff. There are many TH-cam videos covering this, and the game is being negatively reviewed. It's a shame too, the game itself isn't terrible, but the developer's actions have pretty much killed it. So in the end, what the developer does can impact the sales of a game and it seems the devs of Selaco did the right thing, as the positivity from fans has outweighed the negative response.

I will give you that one. I know you are using an extreme example to prove a point but Side Scrollers is no where close to the KKK. I would argue that companies have worked with actual Nazi's in the past that has been confirmed for example Ford Motor Company, IBM, Mercedes and many others. It did not hurt their reputation. Let say hypothetically you are selling a product to a KKK person. Does this mean you endorse his belief? Maybe but I would argue that the business owner is just trying to make money. Even companies like Apple are using slave labor in third world countries to make their phones and product for them. It is not hurting their reputation. Also People play games from companies that have association to the Communist Party(China) for example League Of Legends, Path Of Exile, Marvel Rivals. It does not seem to hurt their reputation. In fact these games are known to be very good and beloved by the community. I don't think majority of people really care about those things if it benefits them. Maybe I am cynical. It is what I also heard the development cost for the game is. I doubt they can sell the copies for $60-70 each now. Most of the people that wanted the game have bought it at launch. The rest will wait for sales. EA And Bioware will be lucky if they get $20-30 per copy sold now. I think they will have a really hard time breaking even.

@@SomeSimpleNumbers I do not think they will brake even. It is going to cost them. If a game cost 30 bux a pop. than they need 8.34 to 10 mil copies sold. On a good day, the best they can hope for is like 1 - 2 mil copies sold.

You are correct. Companies love to use carefully crafted language to make things seem better than they really are. The real copies sold could be less than 1 million if you factor in all the things you mention.

Nice observation from a casual to another 🙂. Yes all of Hololive is talented. My favorite from Justice Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame (ERB) Is an amazing singer. I really love her karaoke streams, every one of them feel like an huge event. I am glad that Hololive have stabilize itself again and Fauna is now Indie and is still being supported by her fans and the community. Hopefully the future is bright for Hololive Talents, fans and the company.

Thanks, I myself appreciate timestamps when I watch videos. Also I do enjoy watching the gladiators fight each other. Yes the game is not too difficulty to beat on normal mode. Part of the fun of the game is coming up with different team composition and beating the game with it. I agree that there is a need for alternatives. Unfortunately it is either Windows or Mac right now. Linux is only possible for people that know how to switch to it. Windows have too much of a dominance that I don't see people switching to an alternative any time soon.

It really does feel that way. Maybe I have been following gaming news and industry too long but I do not remember the tension between Triple A devs and the players 10+ years ago. It sucks to see because it does affect the games they are working on negatively.

The good thing is most of the games in the video will be coming out in the first half of the year so the wait is not too long. CIV is still going strong and I don't doubt it will be optimize. The bad thing about CIV games is that the font size for text is too small. I played 5 and 6 a bit and there was no font size slider. I am also interested in Tempest Rising after seeing it. RTS may be making a slow comeback. I am glad that there are games that you are looking forward to as well in 2025.

Oh right that is happening to a certain extent. Not as extreme compare to the west. DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake is a good example. I don't really think Japan really care for DEI because they have 2 versions a lot of the times. One for the West that is censor and then their own that is not.

@SomeSimpleNumbersyep.., they're doing it likely for ESG bonuses, possibly dictated by DEI consultants "do this or / and this to get a better ESG score".. ... while Capcom likely knows, it will ruin the game or style if they go all in, but try / do some of it for ESG pandering for some ESG bonuses.. ... but it hurts, seeing it happen, ...some do it for ESRB (age) rattings too, but teen ratted should allow "bikini" outfits (it's just swim suits.. or the ESRB are corrupted too) ...

No gaming is not dead. It has been a great year in 2024 and will also be in 2025. It is good that people can express their opinions online even if we disagree.
