Our journey today is onboard set 365 581, a four car Class 365 operating out of Berrily Depot. The Class 365s are normally used on services on the Morganstown Branch, but sometimes make their way to Port Benton and even on long haul services to Llyn-by-the-Sea.
The Stepford Connect units were constructed as Class 465s by BREL in the early 1990s. They underwent heavy refurbishment in late 2023 which involved the addition of air-conditioning, the removal of third rail contact shoes and the addition of pantographs to operate on AC power, which saw the trains reclassified as Class 365s. The Class 365s have an unusually styled front which provides the driver compartment with air-conditioning.
While these trains are quite noisy, they are also extremely comfortable compared to other trains in the fleet.
