Balancing redox reactions via the half reaction method
Why watching this might help you:
✅ Learn or your remind yourself how to balance redox reactions via the half reaction method. Do some exercises, and then watch me do them as well if you had trouble.
✅ See how someone else is thinking when it comes to chemistry.
Why I'm doing this:
✅ To improve my English (diction, pronunciation), and actually use words that I've been learning.
✅ To improve my and others' understanding of chemistry, bioinformatics and computational chemistry. Demonstrating something that you've learned is a good way to improve retention.
✅ I'm hoping that people will call out my mistakes in the comment section.
To see the steps of the method, search "Half-Reaction Method" here: openstax.org/books/chemistry-atoms-first-2e/pages/7-2-classifying-chemical-reactions
I did exercise 41 from here: openstax.org/books/chemistry-atoms-first-2e/pages/7-exercises
If you click on the exercise number, it leads you to the answer key.

How to start when building a command-line app with Python
มุมมอง 2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Learn to build a command-line app using scaffolding. Then create a repository for it, create a PyPi page, use versioning, create documentation, and finally run it as a random internet stranger would. Notice: if it will be the first time when you do this, please spend at least one day afterwards researching the tools and the processes that you've used; don't just blindly memorize the commands. Making sense of molecular orbitals using Orca, Avogadro and Chemcraft (exemplified with Methane)
มุมมอง 10K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Why watching this might help you: ✅ Learn to generate MO's with ORCA, and visualize them with Avogadro or Chemcraft. ✅ See how someone else is thinking when it comes to chemistry (note that I'm still a few years away from becoming a chemist). I will ramble about the results that we get. Why I'm doing this: ✅ To improve my English (diction, pronunciation), and actually use words that I've been l...
Resonance hybrids vs tautomers

how did you change the file format
Hey there! I'm currently an IB student doing their chem IA, and I was wondering about something that I'm having a lot of trouble finding simple explanations for. When I draw a ethenenitrile molecule and see the partial charge of the nitrogen atom on avogadro, and an ethanal molecule and see the partial charge of the oxygen atom on avogadro, the oxygen has a lower partial charge than nitrogen. When comparing this change of the leftmost (or rightmost) atom from nitrogen to oxygen, I would expect the partial charge to increase because the electronegativity of oxygen is higher than the electronegativity of nitrogen. Do you know why this could be the case? Also, do you potentially know how partial charges would affect the bond angles in molecules (this is actually what my IA, Internal Assessment, is about)?
Kids play with minecraft Men play with chemcraft
wow that's a good video, but I can't join the discord group :/
Thanks for your video. could you suggest me how to turn the black background into white in Avogadro. thanks again. your voice seems to me like a drunk person. sorry!!

You need to speak slower in order to improve! I went through the same ordeal, it will take some time. Can you please do a video where you explain in more detail how you draw those structures, and what other resources you are using? I liked when you switched to a second Desktop at 7:27; that's practical. I never thought about having websites that I use often on a second Desktop.
Sometimes I put words together too fast, and other times too slowly. I'll fix it in time! More videos are coming, and I'll talk about what you asked as well.
