We were so frustrated with this situation, but think you are far too kind to DCL! The UK has endless brewers of craft beers and IPAs (many in Southampton). The brewers of Meantime are only two hours away from Southampton, so absolutely no reason for DCL to not stock up before setting sail. This seems such a strange business decision for an adult heavy cruise crowd.

We've been on the Wish twice ('22 and '24) and they announced our name both times.

We had the same starters on the first night but we were in Enchanted Garden.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that, while this song is great, I still prefer the final version in the movie. That's not to say I wouldn't have preferred it longer, just that the changes made from the lyrics and animation in this version to the final song are more compelling. The change in "pass for a china doll" to "pass for a perfect bride" and "who is that perfect bride" to "who is that girl I see" both reinforce that the conflict is not merely the over the top gender roles of Mulan's world, but conforming to social expectations more broadly. It changes the context from being ultra focused on the sexism of the bride tradition to the idea of being the perfect anything broadly. The change from "never fool my heart" to "break my families heart" again changes the meaning of the song to bring it into a world that many people, both children and adults, can relate to. It's not just that Mulan wants to be herself, but explicitly that doing so would conflict with the world she wants to be in and the people she wants to make proud. It turns part of the song from a conflict between who she wants to be and who she is, to between who she thinks others want her to be and who she is, which I think is a crucial difference that's more in line with the messaging of the scene. The animation changes are also subtle, but the fact that in this animation, virtually all of the reflections are imperfect of her is strong, but I think misses the beauty of having the reflections show her "perfectly." In this version we have broken glass, water droplets, and waving ponds that distort what she looks like, the only true reflection is in the temple area, but it still features even more prominent distortions from the text written on it than in the final version. While this is important for showing how she can't see herself in her reflection, the fact that in the final scene she has still water and tens of perfectly reflecting stones yet still can't see herself in them I think is an even stronger way to drive home the point. The original has a fantastic moment when the song goes to its climax and Mulan wipes off the bride makeup hoping that her reflection will show who she is, and then stares for a minute knowing that it *literally* does show her, but she then powerfully rejects this by singing the same lyric again slowly because emotionally she still doesn't feel like herself. This song has no such moment, as even the final reflection of her isn't perfect, meaning she cannot symbolically embrace the themes of the song, which in the final version builds towards the idea that, again, its not just the over the top sexism of the bride ritual, but the entire weight of expectations places upon her or that later in the movie she learns she places upon herself. I don't think the arc is expressed as well in this version, but it's still an enjoyable listen if not only for the powerful singing voice of Lea Salonga. So though I think they made the right call, I'm glad we can still enjoy this

watching all the transatlantic content this year in preparation for my cruise next year. so fun!!

Now it has officially been running for 50 years!!!

This hits hard, especially as a closeted trans guy. Ever since I was a kid, I could always connect with the song, because every time I looked in the mirror, I would always see a stranger staring back at me. Now, I’ve finally started to socially transition, but I still have a long way to go before I can medically transition, and come out to my parents and extended family, due to their conservatism. All I want in the end is what’s described in the song - for my reflection to finally show who I am inside.

That sequence of her riding past the giant sleeping statue is beautiful. Imagine if it was fully animated
