About The Hobby Shed
มุมมอง 106ปีที่แล้ว
A quick initial introduction to explain what The Hobby Shed is all about. Its just a placeholder until I can do something a little better.
That RGB color scheme is lit, I like how the screens seems glowing, these decals really give them that last perfect touch.
Many thanks, it was something I had never tried but will certainly use the technique going forward. Plasma weapons next!
So what wait so congrasts did you use then? Love the black/grey colors combo
Hi angelo, not sure of the question but I feel the grey/black was a good choice and fits well with my Goff Ork Army ;)
Great job on these! Orcs are a lot of fun to paint. Subbed
Cheers matey, I really enjoyed these, just need to do the rest of the squads now ;)
Looks great, what shoulder pads are you using and what arm is the hammer from ? Thanks
@@andrewvenus8631 hi bud, the pauldrons are from the Primaris Space Wolf upgrade sprue and the hammer arm is from the old Wolf Guard Terminator box. I’ve had a few boxes of space wolves in my time so have quite a comprehensive bits box for the Sons of Russ!
YES about time 😂 I've been looking for a video about turning a shed into a hobby space I'm in the middle of the job
Good luck with yours Clive! Mine has helped me be more focused about committing to painting time amidst work, family and time pressures. I’m so glad I did it. The only downside is now I want a bigger shed :)
Fenrys Hjolda! Very much looking forward to the painting session of this one. Cheers!
Hjolda! Stay tuned matey, I’ve got quite a few Vylka Fenryka to get through in the pile ;)
@@The_Hobby_Shed Will do so, got the 🔔 turned on as well. (It's not like I've got a few Great Companies worth of Firstborn still waiting for their moment in the sun... snow? On the battlefield. 😅)
Great job! The fur plate came out great! Looking forward to seeing him painted!
Thanks buddy! Stay tuned, I’ve been hankering to get back to my Wolves, I’ve quite a few to add to the force now…
That's what I'm going to make with my hole saw is a piece of wood with holes in it for my paints to fit in. Instead of just having them sitting on my shelf on my desktop. Some times when I'm hammering on something the paints roll off the shelf. My pin stripping paints fall off all the time I need to drill out something for those can paints also
Great idea matey! I never even considered that to be honest. I’ve already had to go on the hunt for a paint pot down the back of the desk, if I press too hard and the pots squash up they can often push one forward… launching it to the floor :/
Awesome !!
Thanks buddy ;)
Sorry to dissaude your attempts at showing the Raven Guards but they were renowned for their sneeky approach on an enemy and the last things they want them to hear is heavy clanking tanks rumbling forward.
I totally agree, my 40k force reflects a sneaky-beaky approach, but sometimes, you have to take the fight to the enemy with punch and firepower directly up the center, not the flanks ;) I've been eyeing up the drops pods, bikes and speeders lately though!
amazing stuff sir and I subbed sir! Cant wait to sir a Grey Knights color scheme Knight! "hint hint" lol
Thanks for the sub, glad you enjoyed. I wont make any promises, but, 'never say never' ;) Mike
Where do you get those decals? Great model!
Kane, I think it was forgeworld if I remember rightly…
I love the videos brother! Keep it up! I have a similar shed, I deal with the heat instead of the cold weather 😅😅😅
Ah right, do you find your paints are prone to drying out at all?
Hi mate , how tall is he compared to the new space marine terminators ? Great job on the painting as well
Im not sure to be honest matey, I do have some I need to build for my Space Wolves. When I do them for the channel Ill pull out Azrakh to do a size comparison ;)
I love this model great job
I'm glad you like it ;)
Great set up, pretty jealous honestly! I’m set up in a small cramped corner of the garage. Grateful I have that space but man, the shed sets a goal I didn’t know I needed until now haha
You know, since I set the shed up, I have wanted to paint/hobby more. Im grateful for that alone. Gave you a sub back matey, good luck in your journey! Set your goals and achieve them ;) Mike
Wow, thank you I really appreciate it! Definitely early days for me yet, didn’t realise how hard doing videos was. Definitely can relate to your whole experience so far. Full time job, couple of kids etc so just fit the hobby in where I can. Figured I’d make some videos for fun as I go along with it. Looking forward to following your journey with it all. Your last vid I’ve just had on while getting a couple of hours in now the kids are finally asleep!
Exactly that pal. Make the content for you first and foremost, all else is a bonus.
Enjoyed that. Very relaxing to watch 👏🏻
Thanks buddy!
Foam board is not an insulator of any real value.
Agreed. All I needed was something cheap to stave off the cold and the hotter sunny days (not much of those lately though).
Wow Nice jobb
Thanks!
Great video and Love the colour scheme!
Cheers matey, I’m going to go a darker silver on the ones I’m keeping, which I think looks even better!
I always go to builders supplies for tools to use for work and hobby, it's a great way to save money on things like primer...
That’s a good shout matey, I’ll keep it in mind!
Well, now I have to think about getting a better setup myself.
Do it mate you won’t regret it. I’ve actually painted more in the time the shed has been up and running than maybe in the last few years. It makes me enthusiastic about painting.
Electric heating might be an idea.
I have a small oil heater which does the trick but my long term goal is to have a larger solar powered shed with a wood stove ;)
Love seeing raven guard getting love cant eait to see more
Thanks! I do plan to do more at some point ;)
That worked out really well, didn’t know the slap chop method work for armour ideally I only got it to work when painting skin like deamons etc
Hi Scott, Ill be honest, I was vey skeptical but I like to think its like having another 'screwdriver' in the toolset so to speak. Things you can pull out to achieve a specific goal or just to speed things along a little... Ill be using it for various things going forward, I've already began purchasing other colours too ;)
Love the video and the shed ❤
Thanks Luke!
I like it!
Sub and a like from me i would like to see your take on a ultramarine veteran since thats what im currently working on atm, also great model 👌
Thanks for the sub matey, Ultramarines were my first army many years ago now, I’m sure I may have a lose model kicking around to paint up… actually I’ve got Uriel Ventris in the pile of shame. Stay tuned for that one ;)
Definitely looking forward to seeing more Raven Guard.
I’ve definitely got more in the pile of shame that needs doing so stay tuned ;)
@@The_Hobby_Shed looking forward to it. I'm starting my own Raven Guard project in August. Any tips you have would be appreciated.
I quite like colour forge’s black Matt primer. I think the Raven Guard would not use a shiny paint so going forward I’ll do all my priming with the matt black and go from there.
Very nice model, I dint feel I learnt anything here. And your stand is blocking you. Consider working on your setup
Yeah you are right Raging, I’ve got to look constantly at ways to improve and it will, I promise. My channel is all about tackling the grey shame pile and hopefully inspiring others to do the same, rather than another hobby tutorial, I think there is loads of them already, and they all paint better than I do ;) I hope you stay tuned for the journey I am on, my pile of shame is massive…
Fuck all that lad get smart lights in there. Will complement the swing.
I'm looking forward to the Merch
Liking all the models you've yet to work on 👏🏻
Thanks!
Slapchop Removed a lot of the barriers to painting for me. the Orks look great. One thing I found works better for Brighter models is to Spray 100% White (the new GW white is Great.) the wash with a black wash Mixed 50/50 with contrast medium, the Drybrush with the White of your choice.
I’m going to try white spray undercoat to do my Raven Guard for Imperialis. I’m working on them next week.
fair play mate, great set up. Keep up the good work
Much appreciated, Mike
Really chilled out video to watch. Therapeutic 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
nice video. love the light you have in the shed over the painting area. is the phone holder part of it or an extra attachment ?
Hi, the holder is an extra but is made specifically for the light by Green Stuff World. Link here: www.greenstuffworld.com/en/hobby-lamps/2518-streamer-support-set-for-arch-led-lamp.html ;) Mike
@@The_Hobby_Shed ah many thanks buddy. Appreciated.

@@TarantulaRookie Thanks very much pal, appreciated ;) Mike
Nice Dude.... im just getting back into painting after a 30 year break, Even managed to get the Wife onboard and she is loving it and already better than me.. plus my young boy... we are loving it and just starting to spool up on basic gear.... keep the videos coming.. you got another subscriber... Plus I do love an Orc...
Ah thats awesome matey, welcome back and kudos for getting the Mrs involved. Im not sure mine would be interested... Thanks for subscribing, stay tuned, Ive got my old Warhammer Fantasy Greenskins to dig into with some cool rare models ;) Mike
Where did you get the drybrushes from? I've used a few but the ones you use here have a nice effect.
These were just a cheap set from the pound shop ;)
Most use cheap makeup brushes like ones for blush by e.l.f or similar brands. Another good tip is to make yourself a texture pallet from old sprues/bits/sand/rocks etc. Use that to get the paint off your brush and it will improve your dry brushing a lot (instead of using a paper towel).
@@chaoticzer0 Agreed, Ive had my eye on some printed ones, but was thinking to save the cash and just make a small one from the bits box. If I can get one cracked this week, Ill stick it in the next video. Mike
@@The_Hobby_Shed Right on! Yeah I think I've seen a few myself that can be printed for like the AP pallet and it seemed pretty good. I've been using a glass pallet myself but I really want to make one and I've got enough spare bits I can make a good one I think.
Great stuff bud!
Thanks!
Great video, I’ve got a box set of beast snagges and I know there will be a Christmas box set coming out soon. Given me motive to get them built. Keep up the great work mate
