Use ether

The blowlamp does not need to be pumped up as much as that. In fact it was over pumping which caused it to flame-out several times apart from the wind. The blowlamp should be able to go at least five minutes between pumps.

Steam would be quicker and easier than that clunker

Ffs man. Get yourself a (one handed) piezo-fluid lighter instead of two-handed matches.

Keep practicing you may get the hang of it after a while.

And 20 matches later.......LOL a propane hand held barbecue lighter would have helped a lot.

The blowlamp (gasoline rather than kerosene?) must have a leak. It should not take all that frenetic pumping to keep it running. The heat transfer from the burner should keep the pressure up without pumping. Also a windproof "jet" lighter would make life a lot easier.

Really looks like an overhaul of the blow torch packings are in great need…..

You shouldn’t need to keep pumping that torch maybe over pressuring it.

That blow lamp needs some attention - shouldn’t need all that pumping unless it was overfilled.

Would have been a lot easier to check the seals on the blowlamp if that's kept serviced & works to it's Full potential the engine would be started in no time Just lack of fundamental maintainance guys a prat??

Just get a Yanmar!
