Miness in 43 dayss ayeee
Carnival is bad for the wacky stinky stuff. Security at the port flat out told me that the dog doesn’t care. They also said unless you just have a huge amount of it they don’t care either. I think they put the dog there for show, but not to work. Hope your room didn’t smell of it the rest of the cruise.
That's interesting to hear and definitely possible. Our theory was all the people have figured out NOT to keep it in their carry on bag but have it in pockets and on them because they literally told us to put all our bags down and step back to the wall. So the dog only sniffed the bags and were not near us at all. We had it in our room EVERY SINGLE DAY. Sadly, it was one of the first cruises that I was happy to get off the ship and happy it was only a 3 day. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Melissa
Sweet smile
Looked like all 3000 on deck for sail away. Would have expected update to have much more trending colors! The old orange dates all their efforts!
Yes, you are right! Everyone was on lido for sailaway. We usually avoid the densely populated areas except during sailaway. And yes, the color dates the ship for sure. Rewatching the video, I realized how many times I said "hospital grade" colors which is really what it reminds me of. 🤣. We knew going in that it was a short cruise on an older ship, still had a good time. Next time we cruise Carnival will definitely be on a longer sailing (7 days at least)! Thanks for watching and commenting! -Melissa
When do you get you sail and sign card? Will it be in the mail slot on the door when the room is ready
@@Blackphoenix422 Hey! Yes- that’s right. When you arrive at your stateroom (at 1:30 or after) it will be waiting for you next to the door. 👍 ~Melissa
@wanderlustmelissabrian thanks. I just found out I can use the boarding pass to get drinks before the room is ready
Those were the days - when cruising was for people who were prepared to pay for luxury, entertainment, and a gastronomic experience. Since the "pandemic," cruising has changed. The focus now is on quantity at the cost of quality. Tuxedos and "dressing up" is no longer part of the experience. To be fair - prices have come down - but - you got what you pay for. Hopefully.
It was a different experience for us and I'd like to sail Cunard again on a longer sailing. I'm sure the "crossings" are an amazing experience. Thanks for watching and commenting! -B
Honest and forthright review. Sounds like there are many pluses and minuses for this cruise line. Btw, looking good you guys. (Still want to get that Joe & Momma D, and Wanderlust, creators cruise dine some day) 😀 Be safe y’all.
Do you happen to remember how much the Blue Lagoon area cost?
@@skylergreen3433 it was $85 total- included 2 person sun bed, 2 bottles of water, 2 floats, all day access for 2 on the magic lift chairs taking you from port over to beach, wifi and an attendant that you could order food and drink from (food and drink extra) . Thanks for watching! -Melissa

Book Cunard liner RMS Queen Mary 2 and sail across "the pond" from Southampton to New York or the reverse. It's a "crossing" not a cruise, and she's a "liner" not a "cruise ship". You'll never experience anything like it on any other ship. Many happy sailings :-)
"SMART" attire means don't dress like you're 12 years old going on a kids' game show. DRESS LIKE AN ADULT. As an adult male you should be capable of wearing a white tie and tails and not panicking. It's not so hard.
By the way-YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!
BOTH OF YOU! GORGEOUS!]
"Dress like an adult" is a good way to put it. Thanks for watching and commenting! -B
@@Snapepet Thank you so much! -Melissa
Cunard has dropped their dress code. They used to require men to wear a jacket in Britannia and Grill restaurants. For me that was a major attraction. Sorry to see the dress code being relaxed.
It may be less enforced, but everyone we encountered seemed to be dressed appropriately. We loved seeing folks enjoying themselves. Thanks for watching. -B
@@wanderlustmelissabrian We seem to define 'appropriate' differently.
For such a “upscale” dining room, it was EMPTY!! And no excuse for mushy seafood; especially at those prices!
It was pretty limited seating, maybe 12 tables in Frontier. We wanted to be "wow-ed" by the experience, but were unfortunately not. Hopefully others have a better experience. Thanks for watching! -B
Looks to be just the buffet area with table cloths, etc. Doesn't look as intimate as a regular dining room. Lighting is way too bright in my opinion. Probably fine if you are in Alaska and want a great view.
Not sure it would be my first pick for a formal night, when everyone in the Dining Rooms are dressed up. Not much ambiance up in the Buffet.
@@davidd5378 This was the "specialty" restaurant called Frontier. I loved the concept because it was supposed to be the restaurant that has local cuisine that changes based on where the ship is sailing. It had just returned from Alaska so it was supposed to be an Alaskan menu. We heard others raving about it so we may have just ordered the wrong thing maybe. -Melissa

"Are we too young for Cunard??"; What an odd question! If you need flumes, rock climbing and organised games around the pool then possibly the answer could be yes. Are you fit enough for Cunard? Can you do a high intensity hour in the gym each morning? Can you dance at every opportunity and non stop from after dinner to early hours of morning? If you're not physically young enough; did you appreciate Cunard? Did you take in all the high brow lectures that were offered throughout the day? How many new crafts or skills did you learn on your trip? Age doesn't really affect these things, other than that at 68 years old it's only the pro-am runners that overtake me on my seafront runs. And does being young mean you need to dress down? My wife's not quite 60 (she runs fast too, and looks great in minis to ball gowns) and we'd far rather be old than look as if we haven't bothered.
We are in our early 50’s ourselves - so we said that really just because we were curious about the demographics on board and in the spirit of being funny. We felt perfectly comfortable and would definitely sail Cunard again.I was somewhat disappointed in the food quality though. But I’ve felt that across many of the cruise lines in the last couple of years. -Melissa
The dress code would be a dealbreaker for me. I said after I retire never again. 3 days maybe I could do?
We never got overly-dressed up, but there were some folks that clearly had a lot of luggage. It was definitely a different experience :) -B
I never get the drink packages for reasons most people never consider. It limits how many drinks you can buy at one time as well as total number of drinks in a day. I want to be able to buy a round of drinks for my friends. I sometimes prefer to buy a bucket of beers and chill out on my balcony or nice outdoor spot without having to constantly go back to the bar for a refill. Some days I never drink at all and in the end, I may even save over the cost of the drink package.
I agree with all that :) With a drink package, I feel pressure to drink my "money's worth". Without one, I can choose how much of what I want and not have to worry about wasting money if I don't max out the drinks per day. Thanks for watching and commenting! -B
Yep, the idea of getting everything that I paid for is another nuance of getting the drink package.
I can’t wait for my cruise in December this year 🥰
Enjoy!!! Have a wonderful cruise!! You will love the ship! I haven't been able to sail her yet but we are sailing the Glory at the end of October for a quick weekend cruise! -Melissa
Do they have UBER? Our trip is so far in the future that I've refrained from looking at your videos until we get closer, but I was wondering what we would do after disembarking so your video grabbed my interest.
We were not able to get Uber to work (if you google it, everything tells you Uber is available but with issues). We were told to just hail a cab and that was not as easy as it sounds (at least from where our hotel was). If you stay in Barcelona i would suggest getting a hotel close to the major attractions you want to see and/or book tours that include transfers to and from your location. Also- at the major attractions like the entrance to the Las Ramblas area, there was a line of taxis waiting so it was much easier to grab one. Same with outside Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. If you find you need help with any of this, I am a travel advisor and could help set those up for you. :) Thank you for watching and commenting! -Melissa
Man, I’ve never been to San Francisco. I hope you have a great time there ☀️
Very interesting, thank you!
What time were you guys supposed to be back on the ship and what time did they get you back to the port? Do they give you enough time to get back or do you have to initiate them calling the tender boat back over?
@@Katt_Mitchh Hey! Thanks for watching! So I don’t remember our exact back on board time but we had plenty of time. We had a guide that took us all the way to the boat dock at LFK. We rode over and enjoyed our time for several hours and then the staff came round when it was time to get back on the boat back to land. No issues at all. We were back to the cruise port with time to shop at the port before boarding. Hope that help. We loved Little French Key! -Melissa

Booking Barcelo Occidental Costa Cancun in 2025. I was at Riu Peninsula a few years ago and as a solo traveler was to much. Are these resorts in the Maya area, etc, more for business travel? There was a resort somewhere that had a city center or something.
No- these resorts are more family focused not really business. Thanks for watching. We have not been to Barcelona Occidental costa Cancun.
thats the one i just got off off this past sunday
Awesome!!! How was it?? Did you like the ship? -Melissa
How was it?
I go for inside room and add the Drink package instead :) I may only get 2-3 alcoholic drinks a day but completely indulge in the coffee and milkshakes lol!!!
Agreed! Inside room works for us on most cruises especially in the Caribbean! Saves money to spend on drinks and other things. Brian drinks more than I do and since both of us have to get it if one does, sometimes it doesn't make sense. I'm a 1-2 vodka and lime or mojita a day kind of girl but can make up for it on specialty coffees 🤣. Brian will drink his bourbon as long as they keep them coming.. (don't tell him I said that).. -M
Going on the Celebration in February 2025 for the 7 day western Caribbean :) also booked November 2025 7 day eastern Caribbean...I like to go at least 2 times per ship to really get to know it and I will have to plan the Jubilee for 2026. I would love to sail out of Texas!!
We've been trying a couple other cruise lines just for reference (and since I'm travel advisor) but we always come back to Carnival (I worked hard to get that Platinum card :) ). We're finally going to be back on a Carnival ship at the end of October on Glory from Port Canaveral. We live 3 hours from New Orleans and while we sailed Valor from New Orleans, never got a chance to sail Glory. So we are giving it a shot. We love the new excel class but still find that we enjoy a smaller ship too. :) You should definitely sail Jubilee. We have sailed twice now from Galveston and love it. We enjoyed walking around The Strand area the day before boarding. We usually fly into Houston. I found a great private transfer guy that handles the transfers between Houston and Galveston. And I found an AirBNB that we could walk directly from the AirBnB and pull our suitcases straight to the port (about a 5 minute walk). Traffic is a beast in Galveston on embarkation (and debarkation) days. Again, thanks for watching and commenting!! We love the support for our channel! -Melissa
Um! I would have headed right to the baklava or whatever variation they have of it!

I wish I could attach a pic in the comments - I have one looking out from out balcony. You would be fine doing that. After our tour we were dropped right at the gate to the pier and we walked around the area. Hello, I really enjoyed your video. We have booked for late 2026 so our cruise is a long way off. Cabin location is important to us and I'm hoping that you can answer these questions about your cabin location which I looked up on the deck plans. Did you like the size of your balcony, layout. Was there a lot of foot traffic in the hallways, was it noisy, how about noise coming from Deck 7. From Melissa's description your cabin seemed well located to the different venues in the ship? Thanks in advance. We can't wait for our cruise. We did cruise the Med before, but we had an issue with the plane having to go Gander, Newfoundland for 14 hours and my having Pneumonia so the trip was a disappointment for us.
Hi! Thank you so much for watching! I agree (especially somewhere like the Med) that cabin location is important. We knew we wanted a balcony. I had seen mixed reviews on the Cove balconies like what we had. But, in my opinion, I felt like the pros out-weighted the cons. We loved the coziness/privacy that we felt. We also loved being so close to the water and got great views and pictures when leaving ports on our balcony. I didn't feel like it obstructed the view at all. Noise- I was just talking with Brian to make sure he agreed, but we did not have any noise issues from deck 7 or any one areas. As far as location, we thought it was absolutely a perfect location. We were so close to the piazza and Princess Live, the irish pub and so much more. A big one too was getting off the ship, because we were on a lower deck, it made getting off the ship in port a breeze! That was one of my favorite perks. Not related to the room but tricks we found- on deck 9 where the Eatery is (buffet) go all the way to the back and there were always more tables and more food options. Plus the doors out the back lead to a beautiful seating area on the aft of the ship. This area inside is used for the Butcher Block by Dario experience on some nights but open to all during the day. Do the Butcher Block experience if you are thinking about it, LOVED IT! Also, on deck 8 just below the Eatery is the Horizons dining room- it feels weird but during the day you can walk through the dining room to get to the doors also leading to the aft area. I tried to get to it other ways and got frustrated until I figured these tricks out. Hope all this helps and ask more if you have anything else! :) -Melissa
@@wanderlustmelissabrian I really do you appreciate your answering my questions and while I'm going to talk it over with my wife, I see that there are cabins available near where you and Brian were located so I believe that we will make the switch. Currently we're booked in 11115 forward starboard side. And yes, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I look at your videos. But right now, it's all about location. Quick question, did your son enjoy his cruise?
@@brianbollan7069 That sounds great! Yes, our son did. This trip was actually his senior trip as he graduated in May. He's a history and mythology buff so we spent a week in Athens before boarding the ship and saw as much as we could. It was an amazing trip! -M

Same!!! 💃🏽🎉🛳
20-27 us too in October
When did you go? I just got off of this ship this morning, 11-3-24. How did you like it? I gave it a 7 out of 10. It would have been a 5 out of 10, but all of the shows were spectacular and the people my wife met were absolutely great, even made 2 sets of friends who will be in touch with us for another cruise in the future! The food is what brought the score down. This was my wife's 9th cruise and my 8th (she went on her first before we met), the first cruise in 5 years (Covid). Many things have changed since our last in 2019. The food has severely declined, I think there have been cutbacks dou to greed because not only does Carnival own several cruise lines, Carnival ALONE groseS $26 BILLION annually! The hard earned money that I paid for this cruise deserves better food service than what was had! O. A scale of 1-10 regarding the food only, I gave it a 4, and I am not alone. ✌🏾
What a fun stop on the cruise.
Great video, thanks! Do you happen to know if they accommodate people in wheelchairs?
@@luvablesweetnsassy Hi! Thank you so much for commenting and watching. While this isn’t an official answer bc I don’t know there policy, in all honestly it would be very difficult I think. First there is transportation and it was small buses. Then you had to transfer from the bus to the boat. There were several piers to navigate, it might be doable. Then when you arrive on the island , it’s many different surfaces between wood walkways , dirt and sand. To be safe , I would contact them directly and ask.
