After a few years of planning with on and off construction, we are on the last lap to completing our dream home in Jamaica. In this video, I give you a room by room tour of our dream home.

A lot of the inflation with the prices is greed in Jamaica. When they see the same people buying the same stuff over and over they tend to raise the prices. The problem with that is they raise the price too much and you might as well bring it in and pay the taxes. It may be cheaper.

Why does it take so long to approve the plan at Parish Council. This needs to be highlighted so it stop. Ja people we need to know that the workers in government are paid handsomely per month and they should work speedily to serve the people of Jamaica. Enough is enough and we should not be waiting so long to get things done in Jamaica anymore.
Nadine my husband and friends talk about it all the time. It’s key to note that it’s everything that has to do with the government that takes forever to get done. We don’t know if it’s the staff, lack of proper systems or both that causes all the backlog.
@@Yaniquesdiary It is caused by that and accountability where the public sector workers are not audited for their work output. The true to be told it is not only the elected officials ( Prime Minister, Member of Parliaments and Councillors) who are corrupt but we the people as well. For change to happen we are to change. When I do business with government I find out the standard first and hold them to the standard. I am not afraid to sit in any government office and count how many breaks the person is taking before they work on my matter. I am not afraid to report them to the MP who is in charge of that department of government. Once they know the people are serious they will do better.

We may add it later on. But a pool is a big investment and is quite expensive to maintain.

Without getting into specifics, we’ve spent close to 30 million so far.
How much square feet is the home?
The house is a little over 6000 square feet
You are correct about the workmanship & the skill of the people you hire. Not to mention the ethics or lack of it. So sad that young people are not interested in the trades. These are skills that will payoff in the long run. Some don't want to get dirty.hands, but ok with bruk pocket.
So true Jackie! Everyone wants the fast cash and they don’t see any honour in a meaningful skill or income.
They are not bruk their parents are feeding them.

I am so happy to read that you enjoyed the video! We definitely needed that break because as you said, when you’re self building you tend to lose yourself trying to make sure that everything is on track and end up sacrificing a lot of life’s joys! 😂 don’t be like me and go too long without a meaningful break!

🥹 Trust me! It’s giving us the biggest pains but we have to just do what we can do without going in debt by pacing forward little by little.

Hi Jeff! It is my absolute pleasure to share all that I’ve learnt on my journey! I hope that you get your loan for the land purchase. CIBC and VMBS are also great options. In my experience, JN wasn’t as responsive.
First let me congratulate you on your presentation of this video, it is great! This home is huge, I can hide in there from wifey and she won't find me for a month 😝. I see a lot of similarities with the 3 story building I am constructing in Ghana, but the stairs in your project are far better than mine. ps. I just subscribed...

@@Yaniquesdiary The differences are there is no landing, the steps curve around having pizza slice shapes.
Oh! That’s different. Based on our country’s building codes, everything related to the staircases had to be included and passed on the plans.
@@Yaniquesdiary When I start building my own home (the other is a rental property), I will insist on pre-made steps or that they make the steps like yours. Some builders in Ghana have trouble with stairs, sometimes they are uneven, especially the first or the last step. I will be moving there this week from NYC, so I will be able to oversee things to get what I need.
Can start flashing out those base floor walls and install power n water pipe first
The good thing is that all the plumbing for all the floors already completed. We are currently putting in the electrical items for the other floors and will up once the decking for this final floor is completed. Thanks!🙏
Those rock can be use for fence walls or garden bed and so on
Coincidentally, we are using them for a wall…we’ve already completed one side and will begin the next side after all the rain we’re having in Mobay!!
