Have often wondered if the inability to fully update the King James Version,is due to the protection by Royal commission of the work of the Hampton Court translators! Hence the new King James Version being the closest we have to date, to a contemporary version of the same! The daily practice of prayer for those distributing segments of the the KJV is an endearing feature of this Bible society. While the seventeenth century English tongue has become by passed there are still phrases that stand out, like “Skin of the teeth”,aswell as a host of others. For those unconvinced of the value of this great translation,then the Melvyn Bragg book,”The book of books” should answer the question!

This is a Bible every believer in Christ should invest in (if, of course, they're financially able). I did, and I treasure it!

The Lutheran translation is one of the significant works of Christendom in German. The only think I don’t understand is why the Lutheran Church does not use this great translation in their services, but adhere to modern versions such as the NIV, ESV, etc, which are not versions at all but transliterations. Very unfortunate!!!

Need to update the King James. It's a great translation that has a lot of archaic words and phrases. It uses phrases like "pisseth against the wall" that we don't use anymore, and in fact the phrase would be considered extremely impolite in many circles. It uses words like rereward, chambering and concupiscence. Edit: I should add that I like and use the KJVer, the MEV and even the NKJV though I know the NKJV is not at all popular at the TBS. So I have options, I just wish that there was a true update to the KJV. There's the AKJV, the KJV2, the MKJV, but none of these updates have the scholarly backing of the TBS and are deficient because single individuals produced these updates. Jay P Green produced the NKJV for example. The KJ21 comes close, as it updates some of the archaic language but retains verbiage that no English speaker uses, such as "thee" and "thou". So I'm hoping that someday, TBS will truly update the KJV

KJV Psalm 47 verse 2 For the LORD most high is terrible; I used to sing god is so good, so maybe it is time to sing god is so terrible. Can maybe update the Westminster bible to be more complete and comprehensive in explaining archaic words, maybe use longer footnotes like Arden Shakespeare Hamlet. Can maybe try and do an updated kjv.

Is red text for the words of Jesus Christ bad?
