Early morning ride in 2013 first ride of the year. Hit a rock and ruptured the front heat exchanger and crank case. Engine was toast! Early start and end to the season! Oh well such is snowmobiling!!

Yamaha used to make the 650 XS . A gorgeous motorcycle. Handled well and felt good to cruise and wander on. I would guess this bike is also pleasant to do the same. Both Yamaha and Kawasaki should make these two bikes exactly the same size and shape with modern components. I believe they would sell like hotcakes. ( an old expression ) But both companies are reluctant to do so. Go figure. Retro is popular and I believe folks would love to cruise around on them.

That year had the best looking graphics.
I have the same one in grey. We got it new in 98. This one has the lowest gearing I have ever experienced. It is like a tractor. It is a real struggle to get it to go over 40mph. To be honest, you won't want to go faster than that on this anyway.

They aren't very fast, but they are VERY capable. I had one for many years.
They are nice for teaching youngsters when to use gears, and the proper progression through them... that htey shoudlnl't take off in 2nd and 3rd gear. or go 5 mph in 4th gear. After this would come something with a clutch. These were great machines, and I REALLY enjoyed mine. People bitched because they were fulltime AWD and you couldn't put them in 2 wheel drive but that never bothered me. Honestly I get SICK of riding with people who stop in front of every mud pit and have a lever sessior or drive around in 2wd until they get stuck spraying mud all over the place like idiots. THEN when they have covered themselves and everyone else in mud and spray and get heir ATV stuck... then they put it in 4x4 and go. Ignorant fucking shit.

why was it leaking coolant at the end?
Hit a hidden rock hit the front heat exchanger....sled was toast also cracked the crank case lost all oil.

Works without Problems ,also a low Fuelconsumption with Carbureator ( 4.0 - 5.5 ltr ) Front Suspension and Brakes Brakes better you modified this

Probably a bit late to the party so to speak but was wondering what handle bars were fitted to that machine and what tyres you had fitted and were they any good regards performance ?. I also have W650 and would like to change both bars and tyres to achieve your look as I think it improved the look and stance of the machine considerably. Also any suspension mods you can recommend ?
@@glenrichardson6439 This steering wheel is comfortable but only up to 80 km/h. You exceed that speed and it starts to tear your head off. The wind detaching from the hands resting on this heart, it causes! I checked.
