I am a not so professional tinkerer. I have several hobbies i plan to share with you, from blacksmithing, steel work, home renos, working on my old truck, maybe a motorcycle mixed in there, plus i started leather work. I am a Jack of all trades, master of none. If I do something wrong, I am big enough to admit it, so please feel free to comment on anything you think I can do better, I am still learning.

Decal on wife's Jeep
มุมมอง 9810 หลายเดือนก่อน
Before I jump back into one of my projects, I need to install a simple decal on my wife's Jeep with her business logo. I have very little experience in this, but how hard can it be! turned out well, and wifey is happy!! #jeep #vinyldecalinstall #ranknfileforge
NEW PROJECT Rupp Ruppster Part 1
มุมมอง 271ปีที่แล้ว
I have never heard of the Rupp Ruppster, but when I saw it on Marketplace, i had to get it!! This video i break it down and figure out what I need to get it alive!!
Tailgate Mod on my Rat Rod
มุมมอง 245ปีที่แล้ว
I decided to make the tailgate operate with a handle. I used a wrench as the handle and bought some latches from Amazon (i bought them awhile ago). The tailgate operates very easily, with no issues now. Cheers
My $45 carpet hack for my Rat Rod!
มุมมอง 706ปีที่แล้ว
This video I buy a cheap carpet from Amazon for $30 and a can of glue for $15, patch the floor from factory holes, and lay down a sweet (completely hack) carpet to tidy up the interior of this rat rod. Turned out really well for the low budget. Enjoy!! Steve Carpet - a.co/d/1cbX6dA
Hack Dent Repair and Patina Sauce coating on Rat Rod
มุมมอง 4.2Kปีที่แล้ว
I had an ugly dent on my front fender, hammered the heck out of it to smooth it out a bit. Pretty hack job really. I was going to take a break, being under the weather (pretty bad cold), but i forged on. I used a scotch brite pad to the truck and knocked down the loose rust. I washed it down and used the Patina Sauce from @TheSweetPatina that i bought from @lsfab4607 . I really like the product...
Tequila Talk in Rat Rod Episode #1
มุมมอง 185ปีที่แล้ว
This video, Daryl and I review some different tequilas. We decided to try something new while we wait for parts for the Rat Rod. We had a fun banter back and forth and discussed the tequilas. if it goes well, we will look at a new Tequila Talk every month. We hope you enjoy!! Cheers
You did a good job, man. Keep it up.
@@danielvaughan6338 thanks!!
Looks frickin sweet
@@Skipping_Rocks thanks!!
Great job…. Keep up the good work
Think I’ll be giving it a try soon, good information thanks for sharing
And it looks badass!!!
Thanks!! I love it
The engine lid would look good in two sections either side 👍👍👍
That’s a good idea
Just found this video. I think it looks fantastic. Just let it weather.
Definitely. Been weathering a bit now.
You remind me of Jason Statham
You just made my day!! Thanks
That came out nice!!!
Thanks I appreciate it
When I was little, my dad had a body and custom shop so my early (formative ??) years where spent in and around body and paint (long before OSHA. Ah, the smell of lacquer in the morning.) I am not much of a rat rod fan but I think it is great when someone takes on a DIY project like this. It looks like you will have a truck to be proud of when your done.
Thank you
I'm in Tennessee but I would love to attend one of these classes
As an amateur myself, I would definitely benefit from taking a few classes myself.
Good looking truck
Looks awesome if you're having trouble with sand papers Gumming up, it's not fully cured. Let the paint fully dry. And a trick i use it a wet Magic Eraser it works better then sandpaper or try it after light sanding.
Thanks, I’ll give magic eraser a whirl.
Nice one! My tailgate is held on with similar latches, just much older. Some farmer must have jammed them on at some time. Each has to be operated individually but each has longer handles compared to the ones you picked up.
Great job
I bought a Ruppster a few years ago. Mine is missing the original motor as well, but now has an old Polaris snowmobile engine. Fun little toy
Yeah I have been sourcing, and waiting for parts. Finally start putting back together shortly
I had one like this.. LOL
Gonna be a cool project. Thanks for selling it to me
As a kid the only Rupp I remember tickering with was a snow machine. Learn something new. Cool project.
As a kid, my buddy had a Rupp mini bike. First time seeing one of these
My dad dit that to a gals car back in the 70’s went from a white on the bottom to a light pink with the lace completely covering the car. Beautiful piece of work.
That sounds nice!
cool tailgate mod very nice
Thanks
New to your channel, great stuff looking forward to what's next
Thanks
Nice!
I painted my buddies VW ABOUT 50 YRS AGO BRIIGHT YELLOW WITH A 15 INCH WIDE LACE STRIPE IN DARK BLUE, HE LOVED IT
Ahh, that sounds awesome!!
If you annealed the steel would it be easier to work with? I absolutely love this truck great patina great stance'perfect cruiser.
I thought of adding heat, but didn’t want to wreck any patina.
@@ranknfileforge204 Yes true , anyway it came out well for what it went through..
Leave it and let it fade out over time naturally.
Agreed, I think it’ll look better
Dude should sell it so someone can give it a real paint job
Lol, never selling it!! I’ll be buried in it. Lol
wow looks great!
Thanks, doesn’t look too bad
Hey Steve F.Y.I. next time ya go to a Mexican restaurant they have tortilla soap! I think you might like! There's a plus they have Tequila!
Lol, I’ll have to try it out!!
So what is the patina sauce?
It’s a coating to seal the patina. Made by a company called Sweet Patina. It is an easy wipe on, wipe off finish.
How dry was the paint when you pulled the lace off? Thanks, great video!! I’m subscribed
I waited till the paint flashed. Probably 15-20 minutes. Basically just dry to the touch
@@ranknfileforge204 thanks
Looks cool. Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Wow that came out way better than I expected I bet your pumped cause I know what its like to diy an there's been ups an downs in diy but props bro that's killer
Thanks. I appreciate it!!
Would look sick on the fenders or side skirts❤
I did think of trying it on the fenders a bit
@@ranknfileforge204 tbh just cover the whole car and she's mint.🙏😍 But I'm gonna try it out on my hood and chassis rails first
Block of wood and tighten it up and pull wood to the guard and entitled and pull it out
That’s a good idea, I will probably try it. It needs a little more work yet. Thanks
Put heater
Looks like a fun project. I've been thinking of doing something like that on my 40. You mentioned LS fab out of Edmonton, are you out of Edmonton as well? Maybe we'll see you out there. Cheers from S.S. Edmonton
Thanks, I am out of Winnipeg.
Mother Nature will have it where you want it come July. 👍
Yeah you’re right
❤ it
Thank you
I looked on Amazon but didn't find big lace like yours. Can you add a link to it in your description? Thank you.
I just went in and added the link to my description. Cheers
Good job Jimmy, big hello from Milton Ont.
Thanks from Winnipeg, Cheers
Dude.... That looks sooooo good!!!!! 🤯😍
Thanks, I think so too
Looks cool.
Thanks!
Looks awesome dude you made a great job of that I love it 👍
Thanks I appreciate it. Fun job
You didn't let the paint cure long enough that's why you're sand paper was gumming up on you
@@kentpigeon-rs4cm yeah that’s what I figured. Usually it is dry overnight, but maybe humidity was high garage??
Lace work looked much better then I thought it would. Nice job!
Thanks
Looks really good a little 60s flavor to it
Thanks
@Rank n File Forge - You obviously don't know the true original meaning of "Rat Rod" .
Hmm, I feel I do, and if I am wrong, that’s ok. I like the truck I am building.
Be nice. He’s having fun with a cool old truck. Good enough.
@@ranknfileforge204 "Rat Rod" and "Lace Painting" is an oxymoron
@@V8Deuce I guess so, I like the look. I saw it on an old rat rod before and it was faded, thought it was unique. Thanks
@@ranknfileforge204 I think if you watch the new documentary film on the Shifters kids (not kids anymore) the term will make sense. I forgot what the name of the film is, but Hemmings produced it
That turned out nice thanks for sharing
Yeah I am pretty happy with the results too. Thanks
Good job. Subbed. 😊
Thanks. I am happy with it for sure
Whoa, hey, hey… Don’t knock the topics Daryl!!
What brand is that slim blue tape you used? Because, I can tell after watching you twist and peel it, that I don't ever want to use it.....LOL!
Very smart to notice. It sucked. It is pinstripe which I should have used thin tape. I figured vinyl pinstripe would be a crisp line, which it was. But there is 1/8” or 3/16” tape that would have been better. Lesson learned on my part
@@ranknfileforge204 Hey, as long as it worked, right! Great job, by the way!
@@williamguillIII thanks!!
I have always loved the lace on the roof. I always thought it would be cool to find some lace that has spider webs and roses and spiders.
Actually I saw some lace like that on Amazon when I bought this lace
