Fishing Fossil Lake
Fossil Butte National Monument is a world famous protected piece of the Green River Formation. This Lagerstätte conserves the record of an ancient lake from the middle Eocene, 52 million years ago.
This documentary describes the various layers of the Green River Formation that local quarriers outside of the park boundaries commercially dig for fossils. Without their efforts many of the discoveries on display in the visitor center would never have been recovered!
This video was created while I volunteered at Fossil Butte following two summers of working there as an intern and interpretive Park Ranger. This video is now on display in the visitor center!

Fossil Collecting in Owen County Kentucky
มุมมอง 271ปีที่แล้ว
Collecting at road cuts along highway 127N in Owen County Kentucky near Monterey. My main goal was looking for Isotelus Maximus trilobites. Unfortunately there weren't any complete ones this time.

Just north of Monterey Kentucky on HWY 127, between Frankfort and Owenton.

@ I actually found it from just finding where 127 met one of the other roads you showed on your video😂 it’s pretty cool place. I actually found a whole trilobite (at least I think, I can see everything exposed except for the head..)
