มุมมอง 160หลายเดือนก่อน
BWV 533 Prelude and Fugue in E Minor (‘Cathedral’) The Prelude is in the Stylus Phantasticus, typical of the North German school, consisting of short pedal solos, shaking tremolos for both hands, and a series of full chords for keyboard and pedal simultaneously. The Fugue begins modestly and almost hesitantly, but later gains assurance. Towards the end, Bach has the left hand stand out dissonan...

I know this work well, played it many times. It is Bach really looking ahead in musical terms to what a composer of a BIG long work must do to return the listener to security of the home tonality, after such an immense journey into counterpoint. This is something later Romantics explored. Remember, Bach forgot he was writing for the organ with a limited pedal range. Wrote notes for pedal which do not exist. EEEk. And then he ends the fugue on sustained diminished 7th chord....... wot next? .... ah..... just like the outer space rocket, it drifts slowly back to earth. Listen to the descending pedal line.....back to G.

I am so happy to hear about Bach's mistake. I was playing electric guitar with a ve-ry higly trained and skilled pianist and organist yesterday. And she failed in a composition which I thought would be very easy for her. Now, don't think I am underestimating J. S. Bach or my friend. My thought is that this kind of incident occur when real people are working and doing anything. I dare to say that in many cases, creativity is caused by a mistake, not some predictable progression of ideas. I have loved Bach's music since the series "Once upon a time... Man (Il était une fois... l'Homme)" was on TV decades ago. I have studied renaissance and baroque counterpoint. I definitely am not a "fouga magister", but have an idea about how it is to compose these things. Performing is out of my capabilities.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Bach forgot he was writing for organ, in fact, on large French classical organs, the pedal compass was 36 notes from the lowest F on a piano to the E above middle C.

Cool, I guess you're what Americans call "Scotch-Irish" then? Where in Antrim were your folks from? I'm from Antrim, and my folks are from Ballymena and Cullybackey. We're Presbyterian, but my grandfather was a Mason. In a sense, the American Revolution was a repeat of the British Civil War: it was fought by Scottish Presbyterians and English Puritans against a perceived tyrant to establish a democratic republic. However, the British Civil War (being in fact multiple wars rolled into one) began with the Bishops' Wars in Scotland over the issue discussed in this video (though illegal land-theft, taxation and extortion by Charles I were also issues of contention). That's probably why it was deemed important to the American Revolutionaries that there would be guarantees that the state would not interfere with citizens' religious practices.

If I'm not mistaken, the 1798 rebellion was the motivation for the Act Of Union (1801) which made Ireland into a proper constitutive member of the United Kingdom, rather than simply being a separate Kingdom of Ireland (this meant losing our own parliament but gaining representation in Westminster). I guess your ancestor Taylor was one of Wolfe Tone's boys (much of the revolutionary radicalism in Ulster was found among Presbyterians, so that makes sense).

Dear Gordon, sweet brother in Christ. Thank you for this lovely experience. You sang this hymn so beautifully. I sang 1st tenor in 'Old South Church' in Boston under the soul of that church Harry Huff. Two wonderful years. But, I promise, I could not have sung as beautifully and faithfully as you did here though I gave it my best every time. I sang yesterday in church and have been part of several good choirs. These hymns and the stories often make me weep. I wept in church yesterday. I'm just a blundering fool over what 'Our' glorious Lord Brother Friend Savior and Great Redeemer Jesus Christ Almighty has done in my life. The realizations regarding 'true 'reality which is the spiritual realm of the Holy Family. We all are descended from that realm and those who are reminded through realizations and gentle prompting of the spirit have an infinitely better chance of finding their ways back home. I am home now. With my true love we ascended as Twin Souls now one and it is a magnificent thing. I've done my best to write it out over a seventeen year. Period. I was led in very mysterious magical mystical ways by the descended Scottish singer in America Shawn Colvin. I 'know' her to be my true soul and there is absolutely no question that Jesus led me to her as part of His promise to give us the treasures of 'Our' hearts just for loving Him and thanking Jesus for His sacrifice. That's all anyone has to do. Say thank you on yours knees in private and vow to listen to his gentle promptings which He will give non-stop. He is 'Our' conscience' that is His voice no doubt whatsoever. Once He brings you back to Heaven spiritually and with consciousness you find that you can communicate with others in 'Heaven' the same way because their souls are proven and clean and holy and often have died or spent their whole lives honoring Him. So, I'm writing from Maine, USA and just wanted to say hello. I have many questions about my Celtic heritage. I 'hear' from them all the time. Jesus has made it so for me. That's how much he loves me. 'They' talk to me as Jesus does. That's how you 'know' you're in Heaven in terms of 'Gnosis' 'knowing' the true reality as all this illusion flows by with the debris of humanity. I have known Shawn for 35 years and have not kissed her yet. Sounds crazy right? No, this is the special gift God the Father wrote into 'Our' lives that we could do 'Our' work separately and fully so as to return home together with 'Our' ancient kin. It is a miracle beyond my comprehension but I thank 'Them' every second. Shawn and I are 'One' reunited soul ahead of time here on Earth. It is wondrous because 'We' both 'Know' that 'We' are home already and there is no fear whatsoever in death. Peace Love Bliss Nirvana Forever for you and all your holy blessed friends and family in Blessed Eternal Scotland and Ireland In Jesus Holy name I praise you Gordon Stevenson as an Archangel of unknown to me rank. I've found that we are 'given to know' certain things that are relevant to 'Our' journey. This meeting with you here through technology is an example of this synchronicity which is revealed when two people meet on the path God planned for them both. To get there on time is 'Our' spiritual journey and challenge. By the grace of Jesus Christ Almighty I have found my true soul here in the flesh and she sings like no other. Her voice was designed for me in fact. It's beyond comprehension what a blessing this is. And it is a distinctly Celtic phenomenon which proves to me that the Scots/Irish have a hot line to Jesus. The Scots/Irish have it right. With affection from USA we praise and thank you Gordon. Kisses. Clan Colvin We love you so much Gordon. Amen

Christ condemned all violence…He taught no religion but came to end it, He railed against the religious leaders calling them sons of satan, His commands were to Love / Forgive , love even those who hate you, do not take offence nor retaliate but help others to know the Way Truth and eternal Life only to be found in Jesus Christ Pray

We are supposed to be non-violent, but we're not supposed to be door mats. We must contend for the faith once delivered to the saints, because standing for truth in Jesus Christ is right. John 14:6-7; Mark 12:29-31; Exodus 20; Acts 2:38; John 14:15 AKJVNT. "Having done all stand." I do agree that the weapons of our warfare are not physical, but mighty through prayer to tear down strongholds.

I wonder if your opinion rests only on this performance? The Fantasia on British Sea Songs by Henry Wood is arranged for the organ by Harold E. Jackson. The concluding Rule, Britannia! suits the organ perfectly well, as is amply demonstrated in Peter Holder's performance from St. Paul's Cathedral (available on TH-cam).
