Cadillac Lyriq EV Road Trip with EVgo Chargers, Doable?
First EV road trip with Cadillac Lyriq to one of the remote areas in US, Acadia National Park in Maine using only EVgo chargers.
Cadillac Lyriq is a great luxury EV which comes with 2 year free charging with EVgo chargers but can you do a road trip with EVgo only with this new luxury EV? How reliable are the range numbers ? How fast the car charges? How good are EVgo charges?
This video tries to answer all these questions. Do comment if you have similar inputs on EVgo or Cadillac Lyriq

Welcome to EV ROADIES This video covers EV Range Impact with Cold Temperature. Done multiple trip on the same route and compared the numbers at different temperatures. There is an impact even on the gas car at cold temperatures so with video want to compare the numbers with gas car too. Thanks for watching! Welcome to EV Roadies!!! Most of the EVs today come with complimentary free charging with Electrify America for first few year. I want to know whether Electrify America chargers work. Even later on if you plan to take membership for Electrify America, can you rely on it and what is expected cost for charging. Great video. We have a Lyriq Lux 2 AWD. Our mileage is the same as yours. The EPA RATING IS 307 miles but we consistently get closer to 330 miles. That is close to what you saw on your trip. We took the installation credit because we did not have an EVSE at home. When we can access the NACS/Tesla chargers the range and finding dc charger issue will disappear. Thanks

    Why did you have to pay to charge? My EQS came with two years of free 30 minute charging sessions at EA.

      No I didn’t have to pay.. amount shown is just to give an idea about the cost .. the charging station shows the amount and then gives a discount at the end end…

    What is the EMI if you buy a model 3 standard (basic without much upgrades)?

    • @EVROADIES
      @EVROADIES 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Base model for Tesla 3 today is $39000 and monthly instalment is around $710 with 5 year loan. There are rebates of around $10000 (more of less) depending on the state if someone qualifies. The above price is not considering rebate

    Nice to meet you at Blue Sky Drive today, and thanks for sharing your road trip... I must say the last long EV road trip I took in 2021 in our then Mustang Mach E (SR/RWD, 230 mile EPA, actual highway range ~260 miles) was 1100 miles from Boston to Fredonia, NY and found EA chargers in upstate NY were very bad (I was only using EA just for simplicity as we did run out of Ford EA credit before this trip)... Chargers in Waterloo were terrible, with half of them not working (and other half required multiple re-plugs), and Fredonia all of them maxed out at 30kW rate (I understand from talking to other EV owners that 800V cars could charge closer to 60kW rate). I also often take 700 mile round trips to Philadelphia (but usually only stop once each way), and had only slightly better luck with EA... Hence traded my much better handling Taycan 4S for a Tesla Model S Plaid for the power, range, and charging network. This is Bruce, by the way :)

    • @EVROADIES
      @EVROADIES 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Bruce. Yup nice meeting you. In my experience, the charging speed has been generally good ~150KW and 1 charger touched 200KW+. Except a few.. May be Electrify America has done some improvements but I agree its not perfect and improvement is required.. states with charging cost per min was not showing good speed.

      @@EVROADIES I hope it is that things have improved but it also may just be that upstate NY EA chargers are a lot worse... Have you tried EA at the Burlington Mall? Usually only 2 of those chargers are working, and I've never seen more than 80kW rate on either my Mach E (capable of 130kW rate) or Taycan 4S (capable of 230kW rate) at either of those... Also another note, you seem to make more stops than I do, often pretty early in your trip, which may reduce total charging time and reduce stress of getting close to running out of charge. But I usually take long trips with family and small dogs, so any unneeded stops add too much chaos to the trip.

    • @EVROADIES
      @EVROADIES 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      May be there is some improvement. Burlington, I agree is not a good one 😀 They are working on and off. Speed was ok though. Biggest problem is wait time. I have seen if i start the car charging at 15-30% battery then I get a very good speed. It starts slowing down after 70%

    I've been really surprised that there are so few EA charging stations in the Washington, DC area. In Washington itself, the EA map only shows one station. From the locations in VA and MD, if you live in Washington -- and can't charge at home -- EA does not make owning an EV a convenient experience. Of course, I am only looking at EA since it is supposed to have the most stations. Nice video.

    • @EVROADIES
      @EVROADIES ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all thanks for the comment. EA has a lot more chargers in Washington DC area. If you check on the google maps, you will see a lot more. Plug share app is showing me, the chargers on my way which are maximum 5 miles from my route. Also, I have applied a filter for 200kw+ charging speed which means all the chargers with maximum 150kw capacity are also filtered out.
