Don't know why, but got an urge to finally put some new videos on the channel. I wasn't sure what to play though. So since it's December, I threw a few Christmas carols on tape, or whatever it is that the kids use to record on these days. All sounds are factory programs from the Kurzweil K2600, and Yamaha MOX6.

So beautiful 🤍🇯🇲🎄
Love 🎄😍
Incredible 🎉
Are you David who took organ lessons from Rosa Rio?
Yes I am. I eventually moved more toward classical music, but she taught me a lot about theory and improvising. Did you take lessons from her as well?
I read that Beethoven, once deaf, would sit at the piano with a wild look on his face, banging out wrong notes in a fury. What if that's what all composers need? Maybe we need to not worry about the sound of the notes together, and instead just bang away! After all, Beethoven did say, "To play a wrong note is insignificant. To play without passion is inexcusable!" I'm looking for a Beethoven piano piece where I can just go wild with it, hitting keys with all my strength. His only pieces that allow it are too difficult for me in the technical sense. Do you have a recommendation that maybe falls somewhere in the middle?
Perhaps the slow movement from The sonata op. 26. It's a dramatic funeral march that gives ample opportunity for forceful playing. Another to try is the middle movement of op.. 109. It's difficult, but quite playable at a reasonable tempo. To be successful though, these pieces need strong contrasts between bombastic moments and gentle lyricism.
@@davesallmusicnetwork I see. I'll look into those. Thank you so much for responding and putting thought into the reply. I've sent out questions to musicians before, and they say absolutely nothing, or something irrelevant, but you did none of those. So thank you very much!
@@davesallmusicnetwork What are your thoughts on Beethoven's fifth piano sonata?
I like it. I'm a fan of Haydn, and to me, it's the most Haydnesque of Beethoven's sonatas. The 1st movement is a good example of what you wanted, a piece that lets you dig into the keys. For the finale, remember presto means as fast as possible. And what's possible for one pianist may not be for another.
@@davesallmusicnetwork Thank you very much. That is a helpful reminder, because I tend to attempt to match another pianist's tempo rather than what I can personally achieve. I've never had a music teacher before, so I select what I want to play. Thank you for being so helpful!
Thanks for this comparison. Definitely VideoMic X is my choice.
It's a pity that in your comparison of microphones, the first two recordings had the piano with the lid closed. The sound of the instrument is different from this. I liked the last microphone the most. The piano has beautiful low notes and the stereo image is natural.
Hi Dave from your friend from high school at ND .. hope you are well! Trying to dig up a video of your performance of Light my Fire at Jamfest many years ago!
A horse is a horse of,course of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course, that is of course unless the horse is the famous Mr.Ed.Go right to the source and ask the horse. He'll give you the answer that you endorse he's always on a steady course.Talk to Mr.Ed.People yakkity yak a streak and waist your time of day but Mr.Ed will never speak unless he has something to say.A horse is a horse,of course,of course and this one'll talk til his voice is hoarse. You never heard of a a talking horse?Well listen to this!"I am Mr.Ed!"
amazing
thank you !
The "X" is by far the most open and musical.
honestly this video just saved me a bunch of money. I wanted the x so bad but I didnt wanna spent that much money and the pro for a quarter of the price sounds so close to the x in my opinion. I do feel the x had a way brighter tone with more bass but I can manage.
When it comes to sound..people are willing to pay extra for that little bit of improvement, the majority however will be more than happy with the onboard mic that’s on their phone, camera etc
COOL
Rode stereo video mic x
Hi David! This is Martin Adamo who knew you in High School so many years ago. You played Light My Fire by the Doors on stage during Jamfest!!! By any chance does anyone have a recording of that amazing performance? IF not maybe you can re-do one for us!!! Hope you are well , enjoyed your videos! I was in the band Medusa that also played that night but your performance was magnificent and I remember it to this day. Too bad it was in the days before all the cell phone cameras and youtube!
I remember that. I was sitting in with Chris George's band. As far as I know, there's no recording of it though. Maybe I can get a guitarist, and possibly a drummer in here and make a new version for the channel.
@@davesallmusicnetwork yes please do Dave! That would be awesome!!!
Rode Stereo VideoMic X
definitely the most open sounding mic by far ! only potential negative and this would be pending application is that it picks up a LOT of ambient noise - if you need something w/ less ambience the stereovideomic is the way to go - thanks for watching !
Thank you Dave. Well done.
Very beautifully performed. Thank you, Dave.
Hi Dave, I really enjoyed watching this video. I like the way you clearly how to get more views. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next and I'm following this channel to see your journey! I can't wait to see your next videos :-)
