SWISS SHOULDER STEAK PIPERADE
SWISS SHOULDER STEAK PIPERADE
INGREDIENTS:
2 US Beef Shoulder Steaks, cut 2 cm thick
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 large onion, chopped
1 to 2 jalapeno peppers, thinly sliced
4 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 yellow bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
3 cups hot cooked pasta or rice
COOKING:
Heat oven to 160°C. Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat until hot. Brown beef steaks. Pour off drippings. Season with salt, thyme and pepper.
Sprinkle onion and jalapeno peppers on steaks. Add 1/4 cup water; bring to a boil. Cover tightly and cook in 160°C oven 45 minutes. Add tomatoes and bell peppers. Continue cooking, covered, 30 to 45 minutes or until steaks are fork-tender. Remove steaks; keep warm.
Cook juices over high heat 8 to 10 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened, stirring frequently. Cut steaks into serving-size pieces; place in sauce. Serve over pasta.
SAFE HANDLING TIPS:
Wash hands with soap and water before cooking and always after touching raw meat.
Separate raw meat from other foods.
Wash all cutting boards, utensils, and dishes after touching raw meat.
Do not reuse marinades used on raw foods.
Wash all produce prior to use.
Refrigerate food promptly.

    Bought Meat (R)evolution Black Angus Top Sirloin Steak at LIDL's Greece this January. We were all expecting a nicely matured piece of tender and tasty meat. It was impossible to brown, as so much water streamed out of the meat, thus leaving us with a chewy result! What a disappointment, in particular at this price.

      What method of cookind did u use? I got a rib eye from lidl as well, seared it very quick in the pan with a bit of butter basting and it was absolutely gorgeous. Maybe it was only ur piece and j got unlucky

In Greece (and many other countries) it is more and more difficult to get cured beef and you end up cooking rather than pan frying it. Feed your animal loads of salt before the butcher's and you will get heavy meat on the scale and water in the customer's pan...
