Great work dude but dorry for asking how u can dive with it its wood after all i have one and i even cant control it under water 💦
Gamer X thank you for your kind words! All Benthos spearguns are carefully ballasted to be almost buoyant in water(sinking very slowly). Or maybe your wooden gun is very bulky and difficult to manoeuvre. I hope I helped a bit! 😉
Magnífico trabajo, muy impresionado.
Gracias Niko Sub!

All that hard work and amazing craftsmanship but yet it’s not an enclosed track 🤦♂️
Hey Jellyfish!! Enclosed track is responsible for major friction losses...you should know that!! The first gun I ever made had enclosed track, but no other later on! Guess why...!!
@@benthosspearguns Hey man surprised you got back to me. Look everyone's got preferences, especially you judging by the detail you put into guns. However saying an enclosed track slows down the shaft is like saying rifle barrels slow down bullets. When you put four to five heavy bands on a gun, that enclosed track will do nothing but help reduce the bend of the shaft in turn REDUCING drag and making it shoot father AND more accurately. I've shot the Rob Allen 1300 and 1400 series, Vs my dads old school Steve Alexander gun which he built himself (as you kinda had to back in the day for a tuna gun lol) and I'm telling you that enclosed track system along with the push rod system helped IMMENSELY. We were in San Quinten and i swear on every other dive id see a school of yellows. I was hitting and missing all day long with normal rob Allen tuna guns. But once i used that enclosed track I was blown away that its not only a farther cleaner shooter, but also easier to bring in and off the boat (as we were drift diving) it was clear to me that enclosed tracks are more superior. Matter of fact that's why I looked up this video in the first place. Me and my dad are now building a gun from Steve Alexander parts. I wanted to look up the competition ;) as we are almost done and I feel pretty confident a Steve Alexander mech with enclosed track is the mother of all spear guns. Now I don't know how you cut a enclosed track for guns but for us we just used a router table and the right kind of bit and it was smooth as butter, no friction at all. Id challenge you any day to use a classic enclosed track with Steve Alexander parts and see just how much smoother the design is. At the very least its as fast as any open track gun you could make, plus its way easier to manage while loading and moving around. Matter of fact you should buy some Steve Alexander parts since you can build guns (and probably better than I can lol). To buy the guns made its 3,000 dollars but buying the parts and wood can save you a shit ton, we only spent about 1,200 total. Edit: While I'm at it I should tell you to dump the idea of side stocks and just add a second handle to the side of the gun! I know it sounds crazy but everyone tries to make these big bulky Tuna guns to reduce recoil, but the reality is you get the same result by adding a second tactical grip to the side of the gun. People have been laughing at my dad for 25 years for having a second handle, but hey, I think the results do the talking.
Oh man!! That's probably the biggest reply of all!! I like that because you give me the chance to shed some light to "good old proven-in-the-field techniques" that I find obsolete now! Everything you say has a strong basis and I do not doubt anything at all. But this basis is "constructed" on false conclusions! You say that you missed fish all day with a Rob Allen, which although a decent gun, weighs probably even less than 1.5kg fully rigged. I suppose that your father's Andre parts made gun, is probably more than double the weight! So you DO NOT compare similar things. It's like having a Toyota Yaris drag racing a Corvette!! You know the result!! I found that NO enclosed track is needed when the gun stays relatively stable while shooting. To achieve that, two key ingredients have to change. Firstly, the mass(volume) has to exceed a certain level and secondly the handle has to reduce drastically the upward movement of the muzzle while "firing". When you reach a certain level of "balance" to the above, the gun can shoot straight and fast without any need of ailments. For your knowledge, Benthos Spearguns has the Greek national record in underwater shooting in the "big gun" category. Big gun category means that the tip of the shaft is not less than 6m away from the target. I hope I made you think a bit! 😉 Waiting for your reply...!!
benthosspearguns Well all I don’t actually have much to quarrel with here. I mean you’re right comparing a rob Allen and wooden tuna gun of any kind is pretty unfair. But all I’m saying at the end of the day is that for personal preference, I enjoy a enclosed track. Whether or not you’ve done the testing and found friction or whatever is besides the point, it’s clearly not slowing down the shaft enough to make a noticeable difference or we wouldn’t catch as much fish. It might just be the ease of knowing your shaft can fall out, or maybe just the fact it looks cooler (at least to me of course no offense) but if given the option I will take an enclosed track just cause I feel like it’s a bit more fleshed out. That being said you make some beautiful ass guns so don’t let my original comment give you doubts lol. Tbh I thought I was well safe from any actual reply from the maker of the gun himself lol.
@@TheJellyfish800 I really appreciate all your answers! You gave me a great insight on how you think and buy as a consumer! And that's valuable info!! It's always difficult to change something in your mind, just by reading a comment. I know that! But thankfully physics obey to laws and numbers, so there is no doubt there! Thanks a lot for your opinion on the guns that I make! I will always be in the pursuit of the "ideal"!! ;-)
