      I don’t think these “men” have a very good understanding of the office of Deacon. I think they equate this office as one of a Presbyter. Or a an office having spiritual authority. But I see the office of deacons to be designed as a means of dividing the work of the church to those who have exceptional administrative skills or talents in serving a purpose of the church’s daily needs such as maintenance, cleaning, care and hospitality. Finance, food distribution, giving to the poor, donating to ministries.

    My own view: Pastors & elders are to be male only, end of discussion. Deacons? An in-house debate among Christians. If this is even a discussion, perhaps we should error on the side of caution and have males, only.

    As a woman, I don’t understand why so many women are trying to rewrite Scripture to meet their desires. Why are so many women wanting these positions? To me, it seems like a move of feminism and is coming from a worldly view, not a godly one. There are many ways women can serve in the church. Why are so many bucking God’s way?

    Women in verse 11 in this text makes no sense to mean what is being explained here. Likewise simply means in the same manner, which refers to a standard being held for those under the leadership of the man just like an overseer. In other words, a Deacon It's charged with fostering a culture in his home.That produces a certain type of wife as well as children just like the bishop mentioned earlier in this passage period this is what the likewise is for referring to. Furthermore You would have to then change every reference for men and women, husbands and wives in the rest of the bible. the order of male and female husband and wife and the church is pretty clear. Jesus is not confused about what he wants us to do.

    This was good discussion from Voodie and Thabiti we need to go back to this in evangelicalism, i side with Thabiti on this when he talked about how in the eyes of God we are all criminals and none of us get what we truly deserve, it shows a deep level of understanding of the gospel. I think going through the comments not alot of people picked up on what Thabiti said, there are some Christians who really dont see themselves as that bad of a person which effects how they see there neighbours.

      I agree! Sometimes we see things that are so ugly, that we don't want to accept them. It's so much easier to brush past them, or say, nobody's perfect. Which is true, none of us are perfect, but we can't let that stop us from aiming for perfection. Racism is alive and well and still very prevalent in the systems of this nation, and to not admit that, or choose to ignore it to me is a very real problem. Because confession (a formal admission of one's wrong or sins) leads to true repentance (having a change of heart, mind, and actions). Thabiti has such a kind, gentle spirit!

    Is John macarthur saying that we should break contact with our children and never let them visit us until they repent ? Or if they're over 18 and still studying at college, but they're in the same household, we should kick them out?

    • @KOH777-gp6ut
      @KOH777-gp6ut 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they are non believers he was pretty clear in saying NOT to break contact. If they are believers and living in sin then as a part of the church the Bible does seem to indicate they be called out and avoided. Only God knows his heart; but my take on this is to do this when a person has truly found God and the Holy Spirit but then tries to remain living in sin. Meaning that they know God is real and know better but choose to say they follow him but in fact it is clear they do not. To allow that in the church would seem to diminish the purity of the church. However a person with more wisdom than I would know where to draw that line; because I do not. For me it would be a prayer situation. Sorry I could not help more.

      @@Nobodbody I don't ever see it as a kicking out of house situation. The term brother here I think means brother in Christ. I think this was in regards to the early church and that setting example was critical. They didn't have the New Testament; they would part of living it. Can you imagine how confusing it would be for non believers? Without the Bible but only the church members as example. So a false brother would be a huge problem because if seen as a Christian at the time so many would get the wrong ideas and poison the water so to speak.

    1st speaker speaks of leadership sin and rejects by implication that women pastors are rejecting what scripture instructs.. he then goes on to speak of grace as a covering for women pastors which again by implication speaks of sin being covered by grace WITHOUT the acknowledgement of said sin .. unbiblical.. he then finishes by calling on the authority of past and present preachers and scholars who agree with his heretical stance including Billly Graham who was a false teacher who spoke of Hindus and Muslims being saved! The second speaker calls on the authority of scripture and the Baptist confession.. Argument done! Men lead.. women follow.. SO it has been since God installed this natural order in the creation which does not change due to culture or because of an inept education.. and it is in this ever abiding natural order of creation that Paul roots his instruction to all churches in 1 Tim:2 Glory to God

    Yep. Abusive cover narcissistic husbands spread this around to isolate the abused wife telling everyone she’s in sin for divorcing him, until she confesses her divorce was 100% her fault and takes complete blame. Never taking any accountability for his abusive ways, that was causing her physical distress and problems with her health. Beware of these things. Make sure you hear both sides before “putting someone out of the church.” Narcissists don’t repent, nor do they change. That’s what people don’t understand. They only get worse over time. And when you side with these wicked people, you will have to answer to God for it, instead of taking up the cause of the abused.

      Only God knows your full situation and the right and wrong of it. I'm not saying your family was right or wrong. However if you did truly accept Jesus and were truly born again you must forgive. Maybe you have already but it does not sound like it. If it is too hard for you; then ask Jesus to help you with that and he will. You might even ask Jesus that he reveal the true heart of your parents. If Jesus shows you they deeply love you and had good intentions in spite of the outcome; it might also help you forgive. Failing to forgive hurts us as well as others. God forgave me and you; we should strive to do the same and to do so is to the will of God. If you are not yet able to do it for them or you; then do it for your new love who should be God.

Well it took days or a week; I'm not sure but I did forgive him through Christ. Forgive them and free yourself. We all still stand before God and if they are wrong they will know it at some point. If these guys think Voddie lacked empathy, they would really hate Paul who literally gave a government like Rome a god ordained role to carry the sword and punish evil with it. He goes on to even word it, that righteous law abiding people have no reason to fear the sword of government. Thabiti talks out both sides of his mouth and in circles constantly to unsuccessfully dodge the realities and problems with the whole reality of modern American “black culture”. As concerned as he is about racism, he seems completely ignorant of how this works massively against his constant emphasis on Black identity, and seemingly unaware that if there is a massive issue with racism it lies more in the Black community with its constant emphasis on distinguishing people based on race(particularly blacks, think terms like “black excellence and the push to support black businesses, having BET, a black history month, comedians constantly commenting on white people and other racial stereotypes and on and on. Having that nonsense in existence, while claiming a Gospel that says “there is no Jew or Greek” is something that has no place in Christ’s church.
