my fav track and just today got to listen to whole track

Listened to this today, late 2024. In the car on a cd, first cd I burned of the album. It's that old. Disc is scratched, it's skipping but it doesn't flake out completely. As i listen I recall what it was I was doing when this album first came out - reading the early 'Shannara' novels. Elves, dwarves trudging through the mud, scaling cliffs, surviving weather, fighting demons, mastering their innate magical abilities. :D Doubt anyone else mixed the two. I'm in the car & I realize I still want to hear more of this song. I consider what more they could add; extend the 'end' of course, then blast out some more of that solo-ing by Kirk 6:36 again, more of the 'end-rif'...something. Make it into their version of "ina-gada-da-vida." Just go balls-out with it super-long! Never ever thought about going & looking for an extended version 'til this day this year. And wouldn't you know?! Here it is! Amazing song still! Still too short ;-)

These guys are just awesome. Kirk Hamett is so underrated in his craft which is a crime really. His style is unmatched and brings crazy big goods to the table. Jason Newsted is not given enough credit for his great contribution to Metallica in my view. He's been dissed time and time again and that's tragic. He had a big spot to fill with the passing of Clif Burton and I think he filled the bill exceeding all expectations. Goes without saying the greatness of James Hetfeld and Lars Ulrich. Metallica has stood the test of time and their music will continue long after 5:57 we are all dead and gone. Metallica rules!!! 5:57

I just hope that they put this longer version of "The Outlaw Torn" on the Remastered Version" of their Load album.

I guess i like the cd version better. The best music is that which leaves you wanting more. Ending one of their greatest songs in the middle of the killer jam was a masterstroke.
