Electude Diagnostic Questions Intructions
thanks for this video, keep coming back
Wow! Thanks! Great video!
Hi mate, is it same engine as gx 420?
Sooooooo what I’m hearing is he making a Damascus katana or something with the steam hammer?????
Great video. Is this procedure same on the GXV340 ? Thank you
@NickFurlano-b6j very similar
The intake definitely moved when you snugged her up with the cute little torque wrench. 😅 Go back and watch
@bparker86 it will as the rocker is not tight to the valve. It about the clearance after you torque.
Great video! Ty
I have a GX390. I noticed that during your asembly, you made no mention of the valve spring seat(s). I also did not see you install one prior to dropping the spring into place. Do you use them, and if so, do both springs have one?
Awesome
Thank you so much, I just fixed my valves 30 minutes ago. The mechanic told me the engine had no use on fixing it, to just buy a new one.
@con2rito your welcome. I'm glad it worked out.
@jtkasprick hi I have honda gx630 I check spark end fuel stared but do not run Can you help me please
Exelent.
Thank you for this! It helped me fix my 390 on our post pounder. What I did to unstuck it was pull the spark plug and valve cover. Give it a few hard pulls. Check the exhaust for the little bump. Repeat until it does the little bump. Then put it back together and it fired first pull, pulled easy too. Then proceeded to warm the engine and replace the oil.
Are you able to share the file for the 3d printed organiser tray?
For sure, email me at jtkasprick@gmail.com
@@jtkasprick Thankyou, email has been sent ! 👍🏽
I wish I had listened harder the first time I watched, regarding your warning of stripping the rocker studs 😮 I was have the worst time setting the clearance, nothing seemed to work. Then I discovered the stud had come loose and backed out. In my confusion I just made to jam nut tighter. Buying a torque wrench today too. Jeff, where do you find OEM Honda parts. It seems impossible to find them. Thanks again for your hard work and for sharing.
Précision et professionnalisme.Merci
Where did you get that assembly tray for the GX engine that holds all of the bolts and parts while disassembled? I can't find one. Was it 3D printed? If so, can you share the files? Please? I have a North Star 4000psi 4gpm commercial pressure washer I need to repair, and it has a GX390, and CAT DX66 pump. That tray would be super useful.
It as 3D printed. For sure, email me at jtkasprick@gmail.com
@@jtkasprick Done and done.
This was great Jeff. How can I tell if the problem is with the plastic cam gear thing, or actually on the cam shaft below it -- where the plastic cam gear is supposed to shove both valves open momentarily?
@@PRSikes all the parts are metal. The weight is moved by centrifugal force when rotating. At low rpm the weight is inward, pulled in by the spring. It only affect the exhaust valve.
@@jtkasprick ok, I'll leave mine alone then. I thought it might be why mine doesn't seem to get any relief from full compression when I'm pulling the starter cord. I'll keep looking.
@@PRSikes if the weight is stuck fully out or the spring is broken or missing it may cause a hard to pull issue
Nice Video, i couldn't figure out where the decompression thing is. must be somewhere on the camshaft?! Let me know if anyone does know that. Thanx
@@holgerf.8423 it is on the camshaft. When viewing with the side cover off it on the back of the cam gear.
A++ thank you for this excellent video. I did have this quick question how does oil make it into the gear reduction? Box didn't seem practical that that little flipper finger would move enough oil to keep it cool, but what do I know?
@@brianchristopher4493 there are holes at the bottom where the oil from the crankcase will flow through. The gears at the bottom will then pick up the oil for lubrication.
Sir, where can I buy original parts, especially rings and spare piston for Honda gx390 engine? Tanks good videos
@@chanomartinez8327 we purchase ours from a local outdoor power equipment store. They are a Honda dealer.
So Satisfying
On the Honda, no not that I am aware of. Kolher not familiar with how it works.
Hi and thankyou for the explanation. I was wondering if the lift could be adjusted in order to make cranking (recoil starter) easier. I have a Kohler lombardini 10 hp diesel.
I am not familiar with the Kohler. Sorry
I havw this issue but havent stripped the engine yet. Does the sring break or the level just stick? And if so, is it a case of soaking it in wd40 or sometjing and unsticking it and reassembing? Or does a new cam shaft nees to be ordered? thanks
@@matthewhayes7765 I haven't had many issues with the cam spring or lever. Mostly valve adjustment. If they are not set correctly you can have a hard to pull issue.
you wouldn't happen to have a link to the printed hardware tray you could provide?
For sure, email me at jtkasprick@gmail.com
This was a great video! Thanks for your hard work making it. I have a Honda that is having this exact issue. I adjusted the lashing and it corrected it for a day but then it went right back to being impossible to pull the recoil. I looked in the Honda service manual and it says check the camshaft. My only problem now is getting the flywheel off to get at the camshaft...
@@ryanmkeisling9089 you shouldn't have to remove the flywheel. Remove the side cover opposite the flywheel. You can access it there.
@@jtkasprick 🙏 thanks for your response! I will do so.
Best video I've ever seen on the subject. Thank you
You are very welcome.
thanks for sharing
well explained thanks for sharing
Thanks for your illustrations and good teaching. 👍
I watched this movie well. I have one question. After removing the flywheel, there is no charging coil???😊
This engine does not have a charging coil.
Thank you for the knowledge! Quick and short straight to the point video
Only bad thing i have had with the honda engine and yhe harbor freight predator honda clones is the exhaust studs breaking of. On nee engine's i pull them and put hatder grade bolts in an not have any problems
Hello, I am working with the Honda GX390 engine. I need to determine the valve timing, how can I do this or do you have this information? This is the information I mean; 1) Intake valve opening angle:? 2) Intake valve closing angle? 3) Exhaust valve opening angle? 4) Exhaust valve closing angle?
So on my 4 stroke stihl weedeater when you adjust valves you spin the engine over until the arrow on flywheel is lined up with the ignition coil, and you wiggle it back and forth to make sure neither of the valves are moving, is this the same concept on this honda?
Exactly!
That is still a 2 stroke engine. Yes it has valves like a 4 stroke. Stihl calls it a 4 mix engine. Yes you do have to adjust the valves periodically.
heyy i wanna use this engine for a gokart i have this from a electric generator where can i find a transmission for it? cvt or a sequential prefer the sequential ofc 😂
Something like this? Mophorn Torque Converter 4-7HP Go Kart Clutch 1Inch Replaces Comet TAV2 Manco 10T 40 or 41 and 12T 35 Chain Drive Belt (1" 10T 40/41and 12T 35 Chain) a.co/d/jlkEn1P Not sure if it the correct fit.
Im working on rebuilding a gx340 that had water in the exhaust. I honed out a rust stain on the cylinder wall, i can only faintly feel it with my fingernail. Enough that im going to try run it with new piston rings. But i wonder what the wear tolerance is on the piston? The measurement shows 87.5mm on the top above the top ring. And right at 88mm on the skirts. Would you bother running it with new oem honda rings with those measurements? Not looking for top performance, just to run a water pump
I would just replace rings. The manual I have states the 340 having the skirt OD at 81.985 with a service limit of 81.85.
Fantastic, Crystal clear video. Thank you!
I wish the ones I take apart look anything as good as those 😂
Well we did start with new and it has never been on anything to make it work. Ya I wish they were always that clean, lol
Well don sir
Very informative. Thank you. Was that residual oil still left in the bottom of the case after draining?
Yes it was
How do you be certain the Compression release does not engage ? .....it is spring loaded to engage at low RPM and tightens up the exhaust valve ....
6 and 8 thou. For ise old SAE guys
I realize you belabored the compression stroke but you lost it when you went to the arrow. The arrow aligns also on the exhaust/intake stroke transition. The way you mentioned the marking might have been slightly unclear.
So we'll done guys, I am so impressed with your videos. They really are good

I have 2 sportsman generators that have this problem. Im hoping they are gx200 clones because I cant find replacement cams.
hi what size and model and brand is 3 jaw puller. if you are using snap on or OTC pls do provide me the 3 jaw puller name and model
Good video!
Thanks!
Sir is it okey if i put two seal ?
Are meaning one on the intake and one on the exhaust? The important one is the intake. No harm in putting one on the exhaust.
Yes sir ,but i put it already two valve seal .is it okey? Or i will take off the exhaust valve seal?
Fine to leave it on.
Thank you so much sir❤❤❤
