    Joe, you're not doing us Eeb riders any favors by featuring your buddies riding Eebs on trails they aren't allowed. It's unfortunate that Colorado is lagging so far behind the midwest in Eeb acceptance, but we gotta follow the rules or the vocal minority who hate gain a greater voice.

    Tried once on a hardtail, would not recommend. It is ok set for casual riding, but not for any kind of sport (eg every climb you need to downshift in advance). I saw almost brand new derailleur snapping on a climb when trying to keep up with Deore XT and SX.

    • @joebikes
      @joebikes 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Downshifting before a climb sounds typical of any group set 😅 unless I am misunderstanding something? Deore XT and SX are solid group sets though 👍

    • @ekvalisaatorid
      @ekvalisaatorid 25 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      @@joebikes yes. of course the correct gear should be changed before rough climb but with better derailleurs you can downshift a bit later to smooth out the beginning of the ascent. the little bit added pressure/force will not do damage. also with a lot of XT & up derailleurs you can downshift 3 gears at once.

    Sounds like a honest review to me. I have one also and it’s been pretty good to me. But I did notice that the B-tension screw spacing needs to be a little shorter than Microshift suggests to shift into the spiny gears well and if you tighten the clutch a little too much, it’s really hard to shift into the spiny gears also. So if you want it to switch gears well you only have half a clutch essentially. Sounds like I’m complaining but I actually really like it and will get more of them down the road. I appreciate your review though

    I'm super bummed about this. I was just looking to upgrade an old Specialized Epic with the Advent X. Curious that they route the cable to the further away portion of the clamping screw (I looked up the manual just to double check, and you did indeed set that up right). Seems that should be something their engineers would have realized. BTW was this the new Ver.2 derailleur or the original? P.S. I'm in Rogers if you really are going to get rid of it. I would totally love to see if chamfering the end of the housing or even welding and re-drilling the angle of that housing would improve that functionality. I know that's insanely unrealistic for most people, but I'm a curious person.

    • @joebikes
      @joebikes 2 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is the original, not the V2. Honestly I believe it to be a serious design flaw… the attack angle of the cable is majority dependent on the derailleur, not the frame of the bike like. And on the V1 derailleur, it is incredibly sharp. That’s why I went through 3 cables over a few hundred miles. Your solutions sound like they would work and fix the problem 👍 I’ll be posting a short very soon all zoomed in on this particular issue. Keep and eye out for that, likely this weekend 🤠

I use shimano optislick cables and a sram xx1 chain. I also never power wash my bike. I don't know anyone using this system for a hard tail... there are a ton of high end reviewers putting it through nightmarish tests.

    Well you mentioned the performance deteriorated after about 80 MI and blamed it on the b screw. Do you know for sure that the b screw actually backed out? Because after an initial break-in cable tension changes and all that is required is to properly re-tension the cable. Is this more of a case of operator error and blaming the b screw on not just applying proper tension after break-in to the cable? Not saying that that is the case, but hearing you immediately talk about the b screw after a standard break-in required for the cables seems like a potential problem.

    Hey Joe, Iove the compact video format. I can only agree. This May I rebuilt my daily hardtail with a full Advent X groupset combined with a Deore 10sp HG-chain and I've been riding it around for roughly 2500km on all kinds of terrain. Every 500km or so, it would have itself totally out of alignment without me being rough on it or whatsoever. Even if you tune it properly as the manual says on the bike stand, realistically while pedalling you could either have gear 4-10 at 100%, 1-7 at 100%, or 1-10 at only 80%. Some say that Deore chains are not perfectly suited, and some say it is due to the clutch mechanism which is inherently wonky, I can't verify any of them. But hey ho, I bought it at discount price for 80 Euros (normally it costs 160 or around $175). And I guess the price justifies it, as well as the fact that MicroShift is pretty new on the game. I actually look forward for the second or third generation of the MicroShift A-Series, hopefully they can get things done better :D

      @joebikes 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! And this is fantastic info. Sounds like it performed okay for you, at least better for you than it did for me 👍 I too hope the new versions perform better. For me… the cable channel is a serious design flaw, and not exclusive just to my bike. I’ll post a short on that soon.

      @@joebikes to be honest, the cassette issue was really weird. I never had that issue even using Chinese cassettes on an 29 HG (old, I know) hardtail MTB. Even "local" brands (that are basically Chinese but rebranded and generally cheaper) don't do stuff like this, they usually just wear out much quicker than good ones.. Very weird. Maybe try to put an NX or a Chinese 12 speed and see if it works.

    You can even hear how much better everything is working. Service your suspension folks. Your bike will reward you for doing so. 😉

      Agreed! The difference is night and day. I actually need to service this exact fork… and once again I have been putting it off for far too long 😂

    Wild! I did my Lyrik Ultimate every 50 hours (lower leg), and once a year I do a full 200hr (seals, etc), same for rear shock (RS Deluxe) on my Giant Reign 29. Can feel a major difference after each service, I can't even imagine how much better your suspension must've felt after 3 YEARS of no servicing. 😲

    Super nice! Also, what are those yellow pedals? They'll look awesome on my Nukeproof Scout I'm building! May Jesus bless your channel bro! Blessings and love from Cape Town South Africa!

    I don't think I'm capable of riding any of these, but it sure is cool to see them in action!

      Thanks! It took me a few years to get comfortable on big jumps and features. I had a goal a few months after riding: be able to ride the majority of trails at bike parks, and not injure myself in the process 😅 I am stoked that I made it there! And now I’m setting new goals to hit larger jumps 👍

    Specs? 27.5 or 29. Your height vs the geo. Wheelbase?

    • @joebikes
      @joebikes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have it set up as 27.5. The frame will accommodate 29 though, which I will try eventually. The wheelbase is around 1280mm with the sliding dropouts all the way out. I’m 6ft 3in, the bike is perfect for what I built it for (jumps and features). It feels small and nimble for me. I’m excited to 29” at some point though 👍 Full build spec / review video will be coming out soon 🤠

    You had to pay??

    • @joebikes
      @joebikes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No paying here. It’s entirely free to ride… well you do have to have your own bike, which is not free 😅
