I do not protect them. I do mulch them the first year though. I leave them exact as how you see them in this video. Most of my DA roses are over 2 years old and they are hardy to zone 4 and 5. Without snow they do have a lot of die back. But they will grow back in spring as long as you plant them deep enough ( for grafted roses). I have both grafted and own root and none of them are dead by winter kill. I have a few died from voles eating their roots. But i would recommend to give them some minimal protection like mulching around the base or insulate thick layer of leaves or mount their base with compost or garden soil the first few years. @@MHGallego what is kind of peach tree you have ? Mine is contender peach tree and I live in zone 5a. I bought mine from home depot when it was only 4 or 5 ft tall in spring 2023. Now its end of summer 2024 and it has grown up to 9ft tall. Check type of your peach tree to see if it is suitable for your zone. Good luck

@@margiegenx I would prune them back only in Spring. I’ve heard if you prune them in summer and fall you may cut off the flower buds for next year. Good luck ! Mine are 14 years olds

I have a pink eden climber, it’s is very healthy. But first year it wouldnt give out any bloom at all or just one or a couple blooms. Mine is in its second year and it gives me quite a few blooms. It’s about 4 ft now. Beautiful bloom but no fragrance

@@babygirl2912 I moved it to a different location so its small and short and bear only a couple blooms 😄. It needs time to establish in a new home 😁

I killed my gertrude, it is a stingy rose. Gave me only a few rose then took a long break. Her thorns are vicious!

Yes beetles usually come out around early July . So far its not so bad this year. I hand pick them and drop them in soap water. I check on my roses regularly at least once a day !

Strawberry hill is a hardy down to zone 4. Its a very pretty rose but I prefer Gertrude Jekyll for its bright color. If you are looking for a short climber I would recommend st swithun since its a very healthy rose. Strawberry hill is healthy too but I am not a fan of its color and shape.
