The scenes in this silent movie are shot at the Dayton Board track and show Indian racing legends, 'Jeddy Castrol' and 'Gene Walker'. This ...

They made a movie about themselves in the same year they went out of business?Does that make sense to you?
Please bring back the old machines the old Indians Harleys in triumphs bsa's in Norton's
that is not judging it is picking it apart hi milo
Who sees the time traveler at 3:05? Right hand side of the frame.
I have my grandfather 1941 Bonneville Chief. It was a total basket case and the restoration took me 7 years to complete. As the bike sat for 30 + years in an outbuilding it took quite a bit of work to get it started. Upon riding the bike for the very first time I was amazed at how smooth and well the bike rode. To this day, it puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.
The unmistakable sound of a flathead engine!
In my opinion this is one of the baddest bikes ever , nothing but pure speed and Power , so much the government outlawed it. Therefore I consider this a "true Outlaw "
I'm restoring a 46 now. The brakes on these old bikes are anti stop brakes instead of anti lock.
I agree totally… it’s all about the back brake really!
Их что в ручную собирали ?
Indian and H-D had a Fierce Rivalry in Racing going back to Board Track Days of the Early 20th Century. One of Indian's popular Jingles through the Decades was "Harley Davidson Made of Tin, Ride'em Out and Push Them in".DuPont Corp had merged with Indian in 1940, DuPont ownership wanted out of the declining company after the End of WW2. Without the Deep Pockets of DuPont and Discontinuing the Popular Scout, it was only a matter of time for Indian to go into Chapter 11. Although Their Official Last Year of Business was 1953, They did Build The Chief Model for sometime in 1954. A 1954 Chief would be exceptionally high in Valve because of Low Production/Rarity...
Bonjour Magnifique document Cette vidéo est précieuse ! Merci pour ce partage. Voici un lien sur un coffret de collection de couteaux Indian Motorcycle. Je me suis dit que ca pouvait peut être intéresser quelqu'un. ;-)
Love it and seen my 53 being built Wow .
One of the most unknown and uncelebrated disciplines by the entire world is the engineering and production of the hillclimber from back in the beginning of what has now become old school... RIP Brother Dale :)
Nice work on the video! We here at Viking Bags really appreciate your content! Keep up the good work!
Is it still for sale Tim?
Yes it is Adrian... Interested? If so I’ll pass you my contact details if you can give me your email address or telephone number.
Crikey...a brace of Manx Norton singles strapped together..........Whatever you paid for it was a bargain.......

Le plus beau bycicle jamais fait quoi que ta gagne de Hiroshima seront jamais capable de faire met CA dans ta pipe pis fume
Boardtrack racing was not outlawed, it was regulated out by the Motorcycle racing association with a series of rules from 1912-1932.
I’ll buy it!!
My uncle worked there and he bought a chief direct from the factory brand new , drove it 1 block away were my mom lived and gave my mom a ride ,she never forgot that
WOW incredible. Awesome to be able to see 1 running. Great video
Where can i get this starter for my chief
Every Harley owner/lover should experience this wonder of Wheels!!!
Just "a ride in the park." Pinch yourself, you fortunate so & so !
STUPID SHITTY MUSIC
could you please give a bit more detail on the problem with the original.gas tanks? I know they can get weak at the solder joints but am unfamiliar with your short explanation of your issue. thank you. btw I have a 47 Chief also but yours is cleaner :)
btm240 hi... my gas yanks had been lined with cream to seal them. The cream got old and flakes blocking the fuel filter. That was the problem. I purchased new old stock tanks and still have the problem tanks. The only way to clean the inside of the old tanks would be to cut the sides open and shot blast them and then re-weld.
ahh, tank sealer. thanks for the reply.
The reason Indian discontinued the 4 model was the rear cylinder was prone to over heating, they even tried a fan forced cooling shroud on test bikes but couldn't get the temps down to a reliable level.
That is not true, just an old wive's tale. The 4 was reliable, smooth, torquey, and an excellent machine. The bikes were discontinued because they were expensive to build, and sell. WWII effectively sealed their fate. I own 2 1938 4's. Been around Indian 4's for 30 years. Just ask Max Bubeck what the truth is to your claim. Pure fiction.
Mama Mia!!!!!
Boardtrack racing was not outlawed, it was regulated out by the Motorcycle racing association with a series of rules from 1912-1932. Basically the powers that be in racing, did not like the motorcycle racing getting the lions share of fans, and they gave into various safety concern groups. Board track racing also felt the crunch of the great depression, the board tracks were expensive to maintain, and fans could not pay to watch in such numbers as well, it slowly died, by 1941 it was all over on all circuits.
We don't know we'reborn with modern bikes! I can't even pat my head and rub my tummy at the same time, the chance of me managing to ride one of those is zero :D Fantastic video, love that bike!
What a butcher. The first time he's had one apart , yet he's teaching us how to do it ! Try getting the proper tools
What sprag clutch was used?
My dream is to get a 40's Indian Chief and ride it from 1 end of Route 66 to the end of Route 66. I have a few Indian's now, but none from the original era.
Nice to see the proper tools in use
Thank you.
I know of a Indian Scout that sits rusting away in Perth WA.Good film.
Jeff, Mark, Mitch, Chris, Virginia, Ted. All love to me.
My dad was a motorcycle cop in L.A. in the mid fifties. He talked about the Indians so much that I became a fan, as opposed to H.D. machines.. would love to have one, before I'm dead.. maybe to go out on! The only thing is, it wouldn't be good for the vintage classic machine.
Rider has a rubber neck and helmet cam, gives the impression of an unsteady ride. The girder forks plus auto type shock absorber actually give a fairly smooth ride on a smooth road but later teledraulic forks as on the last Indians and 50's Harleys gave a smoother ride. Rear sprung suspension was first on Indians,i n the 40's, added in the 50's on Harley's. Actually the foot clutch, hand shift Indians and Harleys were quite easy to ride as commuter bikes with experience. Practice starting, stopping and maneuvering i n a parking lot before city traffic or freeway riding.
Thanks for the narration Gary.. all relevant comments.
I Gotta Make A Trip To Go Here
Nice. I envy you
The headline shown about "Motorcyclist loses clothes in fall" at 1:15 - come on, that is 1920's clickbait gold. Post the source, I gotta know what happened! XD
a snob
you snake
So does the "A" mean Alcohol or Altoona?
to be fair, this is 100 miles from a show bike, but i dont like show bikes anyway, if he rode the bike there, it would mean a lot more than 100 points to me...
You Harley people always have big boots and no helmets
I waited and waited to hear the sound of that awesome engine but as soon as you started it and rode it around music started playing. That was really disappointing. Please repost without the music.
Theres plenty of videos of these running on u tube!
