I had a hard time chasing down this clunking noise. It sounds and feels much more substantial than what I would have expected from some play in the steering column. The more permanent fix would be to replace the steering column, however, this would not be cheap or cost effective on this older vehicle. I should note that I did put some white lithium grease where the spring meets the washer. I sh...

Remove/Install the factory radio. Install the iSimple PXAUX & PGHHY1 harness for this vehicle. Disconnect the center channel speaker. Repair a backlight in the temperature control unit.

    I went to an OEM Nav unit and am trying to connect backup camera to radio. It presently works on the mirror but want it on head unit. The brown connector on unit already has wires in what I understand is the video feed. Any idea where a Nav unit connects to the camera feed?

      Exactly my question... wonder if that has a jumper up by the mirror for "mirror or nav" connection?

    Buick Lesabre 2001. I have a bolt I need to remove from the Power Vacuum Brake Booster that is right behind that rubber you show in this video. The metal rings inside the rubber are too hard to move them aside to be able to put the socket I need to remove the bolt. Do you know how to reach or remove this bolt without having to drop the steering wheel column? Thanks for sharing

      My current situation and I’m going crazy trying to remove that 4th bolt with that rubber shit in the way. And can’t find a single video to help me out. So dropping the steering column is my next move… but I’m half way thru and now stuck with that situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

    Well if I had removed the shaft I would have replaced it because the U joint on these things are know to go bad and they are generally less than a hundred dollars. But I have to say your fix was pretty genius for the problem you were dealing with, well done.

    • @ericberntson7035
      @ericberntson7035 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually spent the money and replaced that shaft, but the noise persisted. The clunking noise comes from the shaft in the steering column itself. It has to do with the inner and outer expansion shaft losing the grease in between them. By using the spring, I am able to force the inner and outer shaft to stay at full extension. I imagine one of the shafts has a flange which makes better contact when fully extended thus eliminating/minimizing the clunking noise.

    2008 doesn't have AUX, BT, or USB. I have put the same iSIMPLE controller and run the AUX and IPOD connector thru were he did. Unfortunely it lasted only for a few years and had to replace the cheap iSimple cables that shorted.

    Don't you already have an aux jack in the center console? Even my sisters 2011 veracruz stock radio (non-Infinity) has one, as well as a USB port.
