My favourite map on episode 1. It's big and nice. And it has my favourite secret "greener grass" or the grass is greener on the other side. That big area most windows see, bigger than any other area on the level. It looks like a lot of fun. And getting out there feels great.
It's also my favorite e1 level!
I AM HERE!
This level was hard as fuck. I dropped chapter 4, i admit
Definitely feel you there. I had to stop and skill up by playing custom wads before I came back to finish e4
Watching now, this game is amazing.
How did you get the barrel to show that damage/health?
It's a GZDoom mod. Target Spy by m8f If there were monsters it would show them too
On the flip side. With this dystopia of modern games, and so many of these mobile games that have these micro transactions and instead of having tools to offset the micro transactions. Not only do you not get editor tools, you also have content that is hidden behind a paywall. I wish some of these 15-35 year olds would realize, "Hey put that sh*t down and play GzDooM. You can play any FPS or even any other game genres you so desire. Now I personally no longer give two solitary f**ks about ray tracing or Hi Res texture mapping or Normal Mapping, Parallax Mapping anymore. It's all about the game play. Once you realize it's all surface level BS. Than your golden. The more people to hop on board.... I don't know maybe it's best or not even worth it to convince the younger generations about how awesome this is. My bad guys. I'm just a moronic boomer, "not that calling anyone over 35 to 45 boomers makes sense, but what do I know. I play unrealistic games where the main protagonist holds 22 freak'n weapons all while running faster than f**k'n sonic the hedgehog. Nah the best kind of games is where there's a 40+ minute dialog scene before you enter the 85% finished game, that will always need patches till the end of time, but will still be buggy as hell. You run as fast as DooM guy can walk, then you have to pause to catch your breath. If your game has all this realism that slows down the pace/hence the enjoyability of the game to the point that your just watching your character talk from one NPC to the next and in order to play the game that you can at least have fun with, you have to keep spending 40 dollars/euros here and another 50 there, and all the games you play have the same Business Model, micro translations and paywalls. It's always the same person with the same 2 weapon limit and has a WW2 theme. Don't you think there might be at least just a little bit. Just a small tiny bit of merit behind older games with less focus on story and an insane amount of realism and 100% is all about fun and game play. Where if you want to customize your character model. You can just go into photoshop or a free paint tool and apply it to a skin, or if there's a mount you want. You can just skin the thing in 3ds Max or Blender, or choose from thousands of models/skins for a price that that both starts and ends with a zero? Sorry for this long speech by the way. P.S. Anyway whatever you decide: Have fun and take care everybody!
Quake which came out in 96, I didn't even realize it was a true 3D game until using the build engine for a year or so, then when going back into quake I was like, "wait How did they get "sectors in mid air like that." The concept of "object oriented polygons, and working with brushes and actual point lights as opposed to sector based "shading" as it was in Duke3d". I never actually got under the hood with DooM like I did with some of the newer games until a few years later, but man when I found out you could make your own "maps" as it were and textures, and whatever other assets you could modify to your hearts content. Lastly I just want to add that us DooM fans especially me might be some of the rare individuals that are content. at least for me. Moore's law is no longer in affect and it's been that way since around 2016 or so. At least from a stand point of games like DooM that don't take advantage of having multiple cores/threads. I no longer have to keep buying the latest and greatest computer because Modern games like CoD or Fortnite don't have level editors and other programs you can use to turn these games into anything you want. Instead it's the opposite. Instead of buying one thing like DooM for example. Then making your own levels which if you think about it. It's like getting new maps for free, and the added benefit of turning said levels into whatever you see fit, or even if you don't have the passion to make your own content. We'll hell even if you do. I love the DooM modding community that is always coming out with so much new content that isn't just more of the same, but is so inventive and while just based on pure chance alone, the more mods out there you're bound to get really crap mods, but there are so many great ones like brutal doom and the Starter pack by Sgt. MarkIV. Say what you want to about the guy. He's one talented dude. If you don't like any of that. There's Sonic Roboblast 2 and SRB2 Kart. The Mario style series that borrows from a bunch of different NES, SNES, and N64 with so much inspiration from Shigeru Miyamoto. I'm so thankful that I came across Mr. Icarus from DooM mod Madness, and DooM mod Madness is what got interested in learning about such mods and playing so many of them, and staying away from the duds. It was Ultimate DooM builder itself that got me into scripting and is single-handedly responsible for getting me into learning C#.
at 0:44 there is hidden BFG near the left torch by the right if you run into wall. sometimes it takes few tries, but BFG is there
That's the unintended way to get that BFG yeah. You are supposed to get it by telefragging the cyber which I do at 1:49
@Phytolizer as a matter of fact i did not know this, but perfect hatres is quite tough level, so sooner you have BFG, the better
@1337cow agreed on that. I've beaten it the hard way on this channel as a challenge, the BFG is not essential if you are nimble
You missed a door.
Uh, no I did not?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Brutal doom shaders?
This is just how GZDoom looks if you go through some of the settings
also change the render mode to doom software renderer
You can but it breaks a lot of maps designed for GZDoom. The hw renderer is fine and you can turn on the original palette with it. To me this video is more about improving the look and feel of GZDoom without going overboard on purity (for example there is no way to make it FULLY vanilla demo compatible). If you really do want those things, you pick a different source port like Woof or DSDA.
Thank you bro 🙏
Thank you for the playlist! it would take me ages to find all of the secrets in these.
You're welcome! I am very slowly uploading doom 2 as well
thx for all those...secret locations 😂😂 jk
It's a secret to everybody
thx
thx
thx
thx
I'm my PS4 there is 4 secrets
Yes, unfortunately it is impossible to reach them all. My source port removed the triggers but they are both on the second invuln hidden in the wall.
Thankyou
thx
thx
2:10 how to get that chainsaw? The pillar is not so low in my case, how to lower it down?
I had to test this myself, but you locked yourself out of the secret by jumping into the teleporter next to the chainsaw first. I never knew that was a thing...
@@Phytolizer omg
thx
I don't understand how to level up that bridge to the Plasma rifle
It's the switch in the vine area
thx
is this the doom 1 + 2 expansion?
It's GZDoom, I uploaded this before the new rerelease. The map is the same
@@Phytolizer oh whats the HUD mod called?
@cplmoai Fullscreen status bar
Thank you for your hard work sir 🎉
Why the restart at 0:17?
Oops that's a bad cut. I realized the BFG isn't there until you use the fake exit
Hahaha I wasn’t expecting the monsters on this one. Holy CRAP that area is hard.
I have a different video where I clean up all the monsters on this level. It's hard because of the health and ammo starvation.
Which one leads to sllahrednU?
This one if you look in a mirror
@@Phytolizer It's when that mirror winks at me unexpectedly that I begin to hear the music change in disturbing ways and begin Running from Evil.
What about the secret button near the green armor?
It's optional and was added for Ultimate Doom, I skip it in case anyone is playing this on shareware
horrible video
A bit late to the party here but thanks!
LEGENDS ONLY on this map
It's tough but I think E4m6 edges it out
Damn cyberdemon
Secret #8 at 2:29 gets me every time...
I forget it a lot too, those medkits are not worth it
Cool
thx
thx
I just found 11/12.The last one is really hard to find. This map designed really good
I like running through this one when bored
Thanks bro
Thank you
How does your game look so good ?
GZDoom looks like this if you tweak the video settings a bit
@@Phytolizerok thanks
holding the shift key is fun youre wrong
I guess it is a skill issue
@@Phytolizer Back in 1994 I was death matching with a friend over a lan connection at his house, and this mother f.. put a paper weight on his shift key. I was a complete noob at the time and had no idea how he was so much faster than I was, until a few more death match sessions. I realized it and was like, "you bastard.." I got my revenge later though. So it was all good. We played with a strange Joystick/Keyboard setup. It was wonky to put it mildly. So a few years later when I got my own computer. After trying to play Half-Life a few times with this sh*tty joystick. I decided, F**k this, and went mouse & keyboard PC Master Race set-up. Very Unsurprisingly my skill in HL-DM dramatically increased. So a few months later we would play DooM again and if my mind serves me right there was already a port we played with over the internet that inverted function of the shift key like in GzDooM where you check to auto-run which imo should be checked by default. Anyway, my friend still used the joystick. I would just circle strafe around this b*tch and it was pretty much no contest. So anyway yeah. I'm definitely not a fan nor was I ever a fan of the default Dos style configuration of holding down the shift key to run. Furthermore It's almost hard to believe that even with the shift key thing, that we didn't just use the keyboard to walk/run and/or strafe and use the mouse to look around as I did after coming back to the game just a few years later.
sad thing is, there is 22 secret triggers on the Bethesda/Id console port, so either the someone is missing a staircase trigger, or a trigger has been removed entirely
GZDoom removes the triggers on this map since it's a mapping error. The two impossible secrets on the torches are also removed.
@@Phytolizer I get it's a mapping error, but slamming into the stair triggers and getting that new secret unlocked sound is very satisfying. It's of course completely invisible on the original DOS release, and GZDoom just uses the Quake secret sound but it was still satisfying. They really should have put the two candlestick secrets on the two "secret" doors in the same room.
Yeah I wouldn't complain if GZDoom left errors like this in.
I'm playing my Original doom on SESN you the red one!! Anyway i can't unlock when I hit .53sec any help would be awesome 🙏
I don't know much about SNES doom but it should be the same as the PC here... You mean the fake map exit isn't showing the boss?
it should be the same, unless on the SNES version they didn't add that area because I know the snes version they modified some areas of certain levels that don't appear on the pc version.
I checked the wiki and I'm reasonably sure they are the same here
What source port?
GZDoom
Thanks, the guide I used didn’t explain the last secret too well
