This is were Sonic x Shadow Generations game begin.
I'm starting to realise Shadow's spent his *entire time on our screens* carefully covering up a quiet-but-intense nervous breakdown. But for more pain: Those weren't flashbacks. That was them ON EARTH. Those were hopes for where they'd get to be one day, that never got to come true (and that song was by Casey Lee Williams, who did the vocals for the RWBY soundtracks and has been touring with Sonic Symphony lately). But the visual storytelling is fantastic throughout this - not just the action sequences, but the way he shakes himself out of the daydream, tells himself to draw a line under the future he never got to have, and focus on what's in front of him - RIGHT as the shuttle undergoes its separation. Subtle, SEGA, real subtle.
Everyone started crying on episode 3 about Shadow's memories about his friend Maria
