testing installation with trailing lead explained to swp how we would test with it
มุมมอง 5713 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video talks about how we use a training lead with regards to the swp and also how you would use it in testing of an installation and we've also had to go through it with a slightly different look at how we do the tests

I try to put Lloyd on how we use the testing lead and how it should be zeroed out and done just to put at ease how some people look at it or how they're taught. If there's any problems with this video please let me know

    Amazing video! I've sent you an invite on LinkedIn, because im looking for some exercises about Maximum demand, CCC and voltage drop, this is because I'm a junior Electrical Engineer and I'm looking for more expircience in the construction. Can we talk ? Im will appreciate a lot! You are doing an amazing job!

    Very nice, maximum demand is the total amount of power required on the sub board as per AS3000, circuit breakers are there for cable circuit protection in case of an overload or a short circuit on the line. Also I believe there is half a module space required between the main switch and the first circuit breaker incase of sealing purposes.

    Should the MEN link be thick, least resistance or thinner making a higher resistance? I'm thinking thicker so the current can pass through quicker and the resistance of the other metals in the housing will allow for that 5 or 10 ms delay. Am I correct?

    • @stonedsloth6367
      @stonedsloth6367 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      that depends on on the wiring rules. A dummy value is having it the same csa as the neutral conductor, but there are variations to consider in varying the size. theres also a rule stating a conductive enclosure needs bonding equivalent to that of the neutral conductor. Imagine seeing a 16mm2 bond on a domestic board wtf hahah. But like i said there are variations to factor in that can either increase that size or decrease.

    You would only have the earth to neutral link attached on your main board though. Not on any sub boards. correct?

    I just moved to Australia and I noticed that the diversity factors between each apartments, at the consumer level, at the transformers level, between floors,... are not considered? or probably these tables are already diversified max demand? appreciate if you have an answer. As this will reduce heavily the MD for each assessment.

    Thank you. Very easy to understand info. But i have a further question. In an off grid system (solar with lightning protection+inverter+generator) where does this link go? Do they all run to the same earth? Is there a way to separate the earths so that lightning or static electricity does not upset the rcd function? Is that even an issue? There is a real lack of info on this subject. Maybe im just looking in the wrong place?

    Why is it “multiple” why can you only have one

    • @unSTEVOED
      @unSTEVOED 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s called Multiple Earthed Neutral because the (P.E.N) Neutral is Earthed at the Installation (Main SwitchBoard), and throughout the distribution system (Poles and Transformers)

    During earth fault condition if nuetral is connected to earthing bar would the current not be of shock harzad

    • @asedcopf
      @asedcopf วันที่ผ่านมา

      yes, thats the point. the earth allows the fault current somewhere to go - ie back to source then through the breaker, tripping it. If there is no alternate path back to source, your energised oven/dishwasher/toaster casing sits there waiting for you to come along and touch it, providing a convenient path to earth.

    Are the cable impedance values for the line and neutral ? ie Do they allow for the length of the neutral return path also ? Is the short circuit value for phase to phase short which is the worst case scenario i assume. ?
