Yes, you can do weekly rentals there unlike most of The Keys, but "gated community" is somewhat of a misnomer. As you know, the old Navy checkpoint has not been manned since the Navy pulled out. Limited access community, due to the naval base fencing remaining in place, might be closer to the truth. But granted, the old annex housing is a wonderful area.
