I enjoy franchise mode every year, and have given up hope on improvements. I'll usually wait six months to buy the newest edition on a 80% discount so i'm not complaining.

The NHL franchise needs a complete overhaul

NHL 24 is straight trash. Hitting is garbage, poke checking is garbage, exhaust engine sucks, everything about it. I play mainly in Be A Pro. Watching your teammates stand around not doing a damn thing when you have the puck in the offensive zone on your stick waiting for one of them to get open is maddening. Their defense is absolutely atrocious as well. The amount of times I've watched them just let someone skate straight by and drive to the net is ridiculous. So happy I bought it when it was on sale for $20. I'll never get that money back, but at least it was only $20. Yes, NHL 14 was the best. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a Devils fan and Marty was on the cover. Ok, maybe that is part of it.

Played the shit out of nhl 07. Was the only one i played until i bought NHL 18 myself many years later. Was surprised to see essentially the same game, with the same animations and the same quirks that nhl 07 had. Just an updated roster and visuals.

Similar story. Easily played thousands of hours of NHL 2000 - NHL 14. Game is just flat out bad now. It is 100x more frustrating to play than it is fun.

Learning the controls too compete is the battle. The game has a lot of depth. The game needs dump all the ultimate team. Reduce the loading times and overlay coaching layer in game controls over cut screens.

As a former fan of the series i had to come to grips with the fact that the game was changing. I play offline and as any offline player will tell you the games now are emaciated, and a shell of what they once were. I have since burried my hatred of EA because i realize they arent going to change and maybe there are people who enjoy the games for what they are. The old days are over and a new one is beginning, its an era of online play and thats what the market wants.

Odd I really like this game. I had been playing since nhl on sega genesis but I stopped playing at the end of the ps2 era. I just got back into these games and I love NHL 24 but I do not play HUT I only play season mode and offline with friends. For me at least this game is leaps and bounds above NHL 09. I have actually noticed a lack of certain season features from 09 which is kinda wack and the skill stick actually feels somewhat unresponsive but I still like this game alot that’s probably because there are no alternatives nothing on pc also its EA’s game or bust really.

Glad to hear someone else who hates the Ultimate team crap. I knew when the focus shifted to Ultimate team and online BS the game play would suffer. Everyone who reviewed it seemed to pumped up and excited about it and I was like "What is this shit and what does it have to do with the NHL?" Probably the same crowd that loves every shit rendition of Modern Warfare. All that HUT/online HUT stuff is like some generic fantasy league garbage that I have zero interest in whatsoever. Not sure why so many people are drawn to that. I think it is for the masses who are just casual sports fans and really don't give shit about actual game play and presentation but want some kinda weird gambling fantasy sim. If EA has an exclusive contract with the NHL that is a shame and it benefits no one in the end but serves to eliminate EA's competition so they can keep ruining NHL video games by churning out junk year after year and refusing to make it available for any platform except the generic two current consoles. Whata travesty a shame and a mockery. A travishamockery.
