"Aprite un po' quegli occhi" is Figaro's final aria from Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro." Upset with Susanna's alleged betrayal, Figaro laments the fickle and deceitful nature of women, expressing his frustration in a moment of vulnerability and cynicism. Samuel Ramey delivers a masterful performance of this aria, blending emotional depth with impeccable vocal technique to bring Figaro's feelings...
Samuel Ramey - "Ah! perché la connobi?"/ Rossini, "Il viaggio a Reims" /Video/ English subs / 1984
มุมมอง 3217 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
"Il viaggio a Reims" was performed on August 18, 1984, in Pesaro under the direction of Maestro Claudio Abbado-for the first time after 150 years of oblivion. Samuel Ramey sang the role of the lovelorn Lord Sidney consumed by unrequited and undeclared love for the poet Corinna. He performed the aria “Ah! perché la connobi?” not only with exquisite brilliance and musicality (as always) but also ...

Enjoy Samuel Ramey's heartfelt performance of 'O Holy Night,' a timeless classic that beautifully captures the spirit of the season. Since the orchestration is rather loud at times, I added subtitles (closed captions) in English. The video also includes a reflection on the journey of this channel so far, celebrating Samuel Ramey's incredible performances we've shared together. Wishing you a joy...

Verdi wrote "I Lombardi alla prima crociata" when he was only 29. The opera has really, really beautiful music, and, I believe, is hugely underrated. The fabulous Samuel Ramey is Pagano, the main antagonist. Brief context for this aria: Pagano is in love with Viclinda, who chose his brother, Arvino, as her husband. Years ago, in a fit of jealousy and despair, Pagano attacked Arvino on the eve o...

"I think it’s one of my best parts. It’s always been a lucky opera for me," said Samuel Ramey in an interview with the "LA Times." This role was also his triumphant debut at La Scala and Covent Garden. As you must have guessed, it’s his charming and radiant Figaro in Mozart’s "Le nozze di Figaro." Premiered in Vienna on May 1, 1786, with Mozart himself conducting (what would you give just to be...
Samuel Ramey - "Mentre gonfiarsi l'anima" / Verdi, "Attila" (English subs) / Live in concert, 1991
มุมมอง 751วันที่ผ่านมา
"Mentre gonfiarsi l’anima" is the main aria of the title character, the leader of the Huns, Attila. In this pivotal haunting moment in Act I, Attila recounts a terrifying dream in which a venerable old man (later revealed to be Pope Leo I) warns him not to invade Rome. This vision shakes his resolve and foreshadows his eventual downfall. The aria captures Attila's turmoil, as his pride and ambi...
Samuel Ramey - "Come dal ciel precipita..." / Verdi, "Macbeth" (English subtitles) / 1987

Verdi called Shakespeare's "Macbeth" "one of mankind’s greatest creations." It was the first opera of his Shakespearean trio-along with "Otello" and "Falstaff," which came much later in his career. Successfully screened at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, the "Macbeth" movie features Samuel Ramey's performance as Banquo. Sadly, we only hear his wonderful voice behind the screen, though he could h...
Samuel Ramey - "Le veau d'or" (The Golden Calf)/Gounod, "Faust" (English subs)/Live in concert, 1990

"Le veau d'or" is one of the most iconic arias from Charles Gounod's "Faust," performed by the Méphistophélès as a sarcastic hymn to humanity's worship of wealth. Samuel Ramey's interpretation of "Le veau d'or" is amazing-his commanding stage presence, the way he conveys the menacing charisma of the character, as well as his brilliant voice and razor-sharp articulation bring Méphistophélès to l...
Samuel Ramey & Franco Bonisolli - Duet from Act IV / Verdi, "I masnadieri" (English subs) / 1983

Verdi's "I masnadieri" is based on the dramatic play "The Robbers" ("Die Räuber") by German playwright and poet Friedrich Schiller. This duet from Act 4 captures a deeply emotional moment between Massimiliano, Count Moor (Ramey), and his eldest son, Carlo (Bonisolli)-whom he believes to be dead and doesn’t recognize in the amiable stranger before him. While Massimiliano laments the betrayal and...

This aria is the centerpiece for Coppelius, one of the four sinister figures in Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann." In this act, Hoffmann, blinded by his obsession with Olympia, fails to see that she’s merely a mechanical doll. Enter the wicked wizard Coppelius, who sells Hoffmann magical eyeglasses, making Olympia appear as a real girl. With the kind of magnificently sung advertisement Samuel...

His acting always so honest ... ❤
Happy holidays, thank you so much for your work on this channel 😊
Thank you for your kind words, I am so glad you are enjoying the channel! Happy holidays! 💥❣
Slight hiccup in the voice at the end of the first aria. But a magnificent voice.
Ramey was EXCELLENT in Rossini ! He sung so many roles during his career. Impresive ! Love his Maometto II too for Rossini !
I agree, he is totally magnificent in Rossini! I love Maometto, and Gottardo in La Gazza ladra, and the arias from La Cenerentola, and... Actually, anything 🥰
La basse rossinienne inégalable.
Je suis tout à fait d'accord !💯❣
Thank you ! Love the photos you choose to illustrate the videos ❤.
Glad you liked them! Happy holidays! ❤🎄🎇
@TheAmazingSamuelRamey Happy Holidays for you too ❤️ !
Very beautiful, thank you☺
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy holidays! 🎄🎆✨
@TheAmazingSamuelRamey Happy holidays for you !
Great video ! ❤ I just watched the Bluebeard's Castle with Ramey he is INCREDIBLE 🥰. You could maybe make a video with this perfomenace 😊. Don't stop your work, it is great !!
Thank you so much for your kind words--they inspire me to carry on! 🥰I agree, both Mr. Ramey's singing and his acting are incedible in the Bluebeard's Castle. Of course, I am planning to make a video with his performance, so please stay tuned for the updates!
Is this your post, Rouzanna?
@@angusmcrandy yes, it's my post and my channel. I don't know if it's okay to disclose your name here, Mr. McRandy, but I know who you are 😊 Thank you!
Ah non credea ascoltarte....!
Meraviglioso!!
This is incredible. I especially love the way he's just about to strike Almaviva's coat again when the bell rings and he hurriedly throws the stick aside to run to serve the man he's just declared war on; it's a great comedic beat. I'd say my very first favourite of Ramey's was the finale/Il Commendatore-scene from Don Giovanni. No matter how many versions of Don Giovanni I see, in my opinion, no one has ever done that part with as much singing skill, devilish charm and charisma as Ramey.
Yes, the stick throwing is one of my favourite moments, too! Don Giovanni was also one of the first operas I watched with Samuel Ramey and one of my absolute favourites. I will definitely be posting fragments here, including the final scene. Totally agreed, he is the best Don Giovanni ever, so handsome, seductive, and devilish at the same time. I am not even going to mention the singing and those crisp recitatives! 😍🥰
Favoloso!
Fenomenale!!!
Two legends of Belcanto and two one of the most underrated singers in opera history, cuase they were real artists not a pruducts of pop culture like Domingo or Hvorostovsky
Well, I totally agree about Bonisolli. But I think, Samuel Ramey had pretty illustrious career. He has had a chance to sing a versatile bass-baritone repertoire at all major opera houses, he is the most recorded bass in history, he got three Grammys. Yes, his debut at the Met came a little late, but he was very famous in Europe and in the US already since mid-70s, and it's common for bassos to start their career quite late. Honestly, I don't think he's underrated.
@@TheAmazingSamuelRamey The most recorded bass in history is Nicolai Ghiaurov.
@@bastianinicorelli what's your source? There are a number of sources saying it's Samuel Ramey, e.g. www.l2artists.com/samuel-ramey/
The best opera Mephistopheles! 😻💕✨👏

Amazing and wonderful Samuel Ramey with the equally Amazing Franco Bonisolli. Opera does not get more beautiful than this!
100% agreed!
Magnifico Ramey!
What a voice, what a technique!
He is truly magnificent!
Цей голос зцілює душу 💔💕✨
Так! У мене був поганий день під час зведення відео, але до кінця роботи настрій значно піднявся!🤩💯❤🧡

Thank you for your comments, I'm so glad you liked the channel. Mr. Ramey is a truly amazing singer with an incredibly artistic presence and charisma. I wish you good luck in recording "Send in the Clowns", it's such a great classic song!
Great maestro,Mr Ramey!👏👏👏👏👏
Totally agree with you Guys !!! Samuel Ramey is greatest bass of modern opera, and last member of Old School 🔥🔥🔥 Also he is a real Bass-Bariton, his talent and technique made him able to sing both repertoire, did it perfectly, not to mention his genius acting......Not a loosers who can't sing high or low enough like today's bass-bariton 😂
@@ilyahsk05 indeed, he has no equal, a unique gift!
Amazing! What a voice 😻💕
Incredibly beautiful rendition!
Magnificent voice 😍💕
Ого, який голос
Абсолютно згодна!
Яке чудове виконання! 😍💕✨ І як "на часі" ця арія... 💔
Спів справді чудовий 🥰 Я не подумала про своєчасність, але ви дуже правильно помітили 😢
Very nice video! I am a big fan of Samuel Ramey. I was recently listening a recording of Carmen with Ramey in the role of Escamillo, and in the duet with Don José he sings a high G at the end. I heard him other times in Maometto and Attila singing this high note. As a specialist, do you know if the high G is the higher note he sings in a recording? Thank you for your great channel that I just discover! Esteban
Thank you so much for your comment and kind words, Esteban, and I am so glad you enjoyed the video. Unfortunately, I am not a music professional, so can't really say about the notes. I just admire Samuel Ramey's singing--it's beautiful in any register!
Who could resist Samuel Ramey?
Indeed!
Magnificent singer and a great person 😍💕
He truly is! 🥰
