MTV's Downtown: The Most Underrated Show You Must Watch
มุมมอง 20Kปีที่แล้ว
Downtown (1999), the cult classic animated show from MTV in the early '90s, continues to reach new audiences even today. Despite its unfortunate cancellation, Downtown's legacy lives on, with a growing community of dedicated fans who recognize its unique place in animation history. In this video, I provide a decent introduction to the show, the characters, the show's artistic style, and uncover...
No one will never make a Ney York Version of Akira again. But it was pretty common before 2001.
speak clearly go back to taco bell
Is there anywhere to view the interviews they did? I just discovered this show, and it's about the age group I was in at the time of its release, so the nostalgia is immense (most of the voice actors were born around the same time as me too). I can tell they really knew the people they were writing, and the subcultures and music of that era. This is a great short dive, thanks! PS, 10:09 the name Phoebe is pronounced FEE-be.
This is actually one of my favorite shows I watch it all the time I wish there was more episodes they’re so relatable
Downtown is one of those shows that perfectly captures real life while adding in a tasteful samount of cartoonish absurdity. Watching the first few episodes feels like you’re hanging out with you’re old homies
It might be under-rated, but it was just because MTV was bangin' at the time with good shows. That's literally it. This wasn't even the best thing on in 99. Probably had a shit time slot, too.
I saw Goat and Im like, Goat from Megas XLR
Weird
literally just subscribed
now imma unsub because doing drugs irresponsibly is cringe
bru i fw this!!! keep this type of video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love how natural this show is
To this day I’m looking for the song they played in the club 😅😭
the animation is good but to watch a pointless depressing bunch of nonsense (that most of MTV shows were anyway) with some hipsters characters yeah no thank you ... this was canned for a simple reason that it appealed only to a specific microscopic group of people and nobody else
Chris Prynoski also worked on Metalovalypse, and Goat even appeared on it.
Saving for later.
i watch a few episodes of this show, i like laid back cartoons like this
Literally just finished the show yesterday, such an amazing show
the first couple of episodes were strong, the rest sucked that i forgot what the show was about but the ending was kinda good ig
What's up with the names in the comments is it like a sleeper cell thing I thought acronyms but then seeing the usernames is like bot hires
Downtown and Megas XLR had a unique art style.
i love watching this show in bed it makes me feel like a kid again watching something i shouldnt LOL
w video i watched this when i was lil i love mtv downtown
I love this show & celebrity death match
Sad to lose 2 of the voice actors in 2023. Great show, took me aback ✌️
Really cool that Goat made it to Megas xlr
mtv downtown is like the cartoon version of what cowboy bepop is to me
downtown is such a amazing show, it actually feels like real conversations.
She didn't die for this mid💔
fucking christ man this girl is not a “queen” or an “icon!!” or any of that shit. don’t put school shooters on a pedestal for fucks sake.
wtf have i stumbled upon
This is one of those shows that could genuinely never stop because the premise of the show is just to display real life people living normal lives. Rip goat💔my fav character
nothing about this was "normal" the characters were bunch of awkward social outcasts, nolifers, not everyone is like that nor willing to watch such stuff, its rather depressing and the exact reason why it was removed
@@xityarxip keep yapping we don’t care lil bro
pleeeease what's the song in background ???
So I was watching the earliest Titmouse animation series! God you can’t help but wonder what could have been if the series would have continued
I want to see the guy who voiced Alex so bad!! It bugs me that he’s the main character and I can’t see who voiced him
Theres an interview out just search up mtv downtown interviews theres a compilation video that shows the voice actors
The moment I saw the first 2 first episodes I fell inlove in this show. The art, the atmosphere, the conversations, the characters, everything. ❤ I wish there it could go longer Also, did you mean that there's nothing behind the scenes on TH-cam? Because someone uploaded all the episodes to TH-cam. 😄
I spoke to the voice actor of Mecca, she's an amazing woman.
More of a mission hill guy.
thank you
What a boring video, just the voice actors’ resume, and not even well researched.
To be fair, there's very little information beyond what was said. It can't be helped. Just appreciate what you've got.
@@njtheradical Not true, there’s other videos in TH-cam that give much more info, including interviews with the voice actors.
Jeez.
recently some of the original actors and inspirations recorded some recent interviews talking about their experience making the show
The fact Chaka is only 17 blows my mind, I thought she was 19, maybe 20 😂
Same age almost
the characters suppose to be young adults = 20+ if you are talking about something else then nevermind ...
I Love MTV’s Downtown, 3 of My Favorite episodes are Road Trip, Comic-Con and Board Games Coney Island Race!😂🤣😍😋❤️📺🎶👍🏻
1999 was also The Year Nickelodeon and CTW/Sesame Workshop launched Noggin!❤️📺🎶👍🏻#BringBack1999Noggin
I know the song is from the show wants the song your using
You gotta drop the music you use in the background.
Tragic shame this didn't get more episodes, but who knows if it would have been as good. I'd love to see the script for season 2. I'm sure it would have been awesome since Chris did legendary work on Beavis and Butthead.
Man the best video
I was thinking of making a video on downtown, so this is some big inspiration!
True as fuck
¿donde conseguiste el clip que sale en el 0:00?
