    Interesting technique but when do you switch over to identifying a given scent without seeing the person walk away or hide and using the command “watch him” what does that command branch off to exactly? Other than that an amazing and very motivated dog.

      That’s what I have tried once in the past, it seems to work against black bears

    Thank you for this video. I am almost a year into IPP. I have a boar and two gilts, both due in April. I have not registered as a breeder yet but planning to do so soon. Question: how much and what are you feeding the sow? Thank you

    • @mossyelkfarm
      @mossyelkfarm ปีที่แล้ว

      Congratulations on your Idaho pasture pigs, we just absolutely love ours! I aim for about 4 pounds of feed per adult pig. This is a mixture that I soak over 2 to 3 days switching buckets every day so it’s fermented which also increase the protein and vitamins. The mixture includes a non-GMO/non-corn/soy mixture of cracked peas and a mix of other stuff(natural Farm Feed is the company) as well as barley, mixed with sunflower seeds and a vitamin mineral mix (wolfkill) I also do a LOT of vegetable scraps. These pigs are meant to eat 80% pasture/greens. Enjoy your IPP journey 😍 Also, when your sows deliver, you want to increase there feed slowly over about two or three days and give her an additional half a pound per piglet. 😉😀

    So I got a question do you have to torture The Cow by putting that thing in his nose because I I heard that s*** hurts the animal what's the purpose of putting that s*** through their nose

    • @mossyelkfarm
      @mossyelkfarm ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually more torturous to separate the calves, and have the anxiety, did a calf tell you this because they’re probably just upset about being weened. Things that look scary aren’t always bad and you really have to be on a farm and have some experience to understand that tools like this help us give the cows the best life which is our first goal. That big Mac came from beef that had a history of real pain and suffering!

    I notice several cows are wearing halters, is that a safe practice when they are on pasture?

    • @mossyelkfarm
      @mossyelkfarm ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the pasture they’re on, and what sort of trees and things, you definitely don’t want to leave them on if there’s things they can get hung up on or if you do not constantly monitor

    end of January and mud. Must be nice to live in such a warm climate. My ground is frozen over 40 inches down and it is almost 30 below. I'm only 10ish hours away too. Great video.
