I decided to buy an old GWS F15 twin 64mm kit and used parts I had lying around to complete the model. It is an old model that requires you to glue the fuselage together so you better have everything working correctly before you glue. The kit is only $99 but again it is old technology and probably older than 10 years now. Here's the link: www.alofthobbies.com/products/gws-f15-with-64mm-edfs

Awesome video... just picked up my F-14 used today. Was wondering about mixing the swept wing w ith Spektrum 👍🏼
Great video my got to when I set up
Amazing model❤ great sound (..sorry for that). I'm working on a light version of this 😉
Great video, not long and very understandable, Thanks for taking the time. After more than thirty years of helicopters I wanted to try some planes and recently I bought a Viper radio NX8+ and AR 10360T receiver that I configured following your advice. The SAFE works very well, the AS3X movements are imperceptible on the model. Do you have any advice to increase them? In the Gyro setting screen there is a modifiable "Gyro system". As usual I found nothing: do you know anything about it? Greetings from Italy.
You can play with the AS3X gyros gains if you want. I usually find the default works well. I've only ever reduce the roll om some jets. There is the NX8 has a knob you can tie to the gain in fwd programming and adjust the gain in flight. I've never done this. You mentioned the AS3X is imperceptible. Have you tried turning off SAFE and AS3X see how it flies then turn on AS3X and see if there is a difference?
this is so much help for beginners in this hobby I have told guys in our club to watch your video on this an setup there planes witch has really helped them an myself,,I want to say thank you
Pilot error.
I have ax3s but safe is not working. I went through your programmer, set up and got everything set up. I think just right. But still no safe.
When testing it's hard to tell the difference between AS3X and SAFE as the control surface behave the same. The key difference is AS3X only gets enabled when the throttle has been above 20%. Usually people have trouble with AS3X not SAFE due to the throttle. If SAFE is truly not working I'm unsure what the issue is. You might look at the channel values when you flip the switch to see that different values are sent to the receiver.
Wow, flying those jets there with a cop car sitting right in the parking lot. You've got some balls, stick jockey. I'll give you that.
This is a very well done video. I was struggling to understand forward programming and now I have setup a couple of planes. Thanks for taking the time to create this.
GWS was way ahead of its time. They are incredible airframes that fly very well. I miss the company being gone. Their P51 and corsair were incredible flyers. The A10 was great too. Building them was part of the fun.
I am having trouble with the last bit. For some reason it does not load the completed SRM file into my rx, it indicates that it has but when I try and use the ilght mode switch I hae safe and AS3X on on all three flight modes. Would appreciate some help.
this is a SL trim level
Thank you sooooo much, Spektrum should be ashamed of their lack of instructions!!!!!
I learned so much from your video, but my as3x mode didn’t work plus as for using channel 7 it doesn’t seem to work either so I end up using my gear channel But still your video are the best
I've had one for 3 years, it's still in the box 😂. This has given me the urge to finally build it.
You should. it's a great flyer as with all GWS kits we're great. I miss that company
Looked like my freewing F-22 when the elevator servo went out on my at full throttle. Total loss 😢
Good tips!
Excellent video. Watched many before this and none made sense. Well done and thank you
I think the throttle to pitch would work great on a foam aircraft I have that the faster it goes it begins to climb and I always have to add down elevator. My theory is the wings are bow some at high speeds causing more lift. I would like to have some down elevator added as throttle is applied, it may help this aircraft fly better. Thanks for your video. It's helping me a lot.
I hated that throttle-to-pitch mix because on my first trainer plane they had that in the receiver. As I beginner I would takeoff at max speed then it was all I could do to get the plane to turn 180 degrees. By the time I finished the turn the plane was so I high I was starting to lose orientation. To this day I still don't like the idea. If you want to go up pull back on the stick...period!
if you add another lead to the elevator servos with a bigger receiver you can add tailerons. I have a TX16s and added another elevator channel, then added aleron movements to the elevator by adding in aleron inputs on the rudder channel
Says Immm then eats and chews on the mike horrible video .
We’re also adding reflex on aliorons to give it washout on the tips seems to work
They need to remake this wing laminator flow wings on models suck for landing I can land this thing 10 times in a row perfectly 11th time tips stall and rebuild
when all else failed your video has shined and saved me once again major shout out and thanks for everything
Great video! Great content!
Good job on your rebuild 😊
THANK YOU so much! As others have stated, yours is the ONLY tutorial that is easy to follow; enough but not too much info; and worked perfectly first time. Beautifully done. GREAT work! 😎👍🏼
Sorry for you bud. Another crash for the books. They need a V2 for this one already to fix all the problems.
What kinda dumbass flies so close to traffic

Thanks for sharing! You have the BEST crashes on TH-cam!!! Liked and Subscribed!!!
Seemed like all the up and down that it was either nose heavy wanting to dip forward and you were having to pull backward to leave it. Or elevators set too much down are other things to consider.
I've seen quiet a few crashes with this same f14...Its cursed lol.
Really great video on this. Thank you!
Is there anyway you could copy the download on your computer and send it to me ? Apparently it’s not available anymore. Seven of my receivers are garbage if I can’t change those for another airplane. That’s about 1500 dollars of receivers.
I was able to download the two software programs from the 2nd and 3rd in the description just now. Check your download folder on your computer. There should be 2 files: SAFE Model Builder for AR636 1.6.1 and spektrum-programmer-3.8.0.0.
I've seen now there have been several crashes of this plane.. I do have one on pre order but not confident about it.
The F14 is a complex aircraft with elevons, wing sweep, etc. However, it is doable. I have the 80, 50, 40 versions and love em. I am very confident with the right receiver and the plane configured properly, it will be a great flying plane and will be one of my favs due to its size and awesomeness. Don't let my experience dampen your experience with this awesome plane. I've ordered all the parts to repair it and there will be a redemption flight as soon as the nose cone is in stock!
Hate to see this happen 😕 wonder why still 😕 i would never take off with the gyro on to start though. Seen others dip hard on takeoff, starting like that is never easy. Testing the rx well, making sure its up-to-date too. Range check it. So many things to wonder about.
Did you make sure the elevators were level? The way it was swimming up and down like a dolphin reminded me of one of my big mistakes because the elevators weren't the same.
Very lucky you didn’t hit a car or person, flying in an area like that, jeeez
He diden't have control of it..Thats why.
@@Troops-y6h no, you don’t get it, you should not be flying this shit in an area like that It’s arrogant, ignorant and dangerous
@@anonymus6810 Tough shit.. Dont Cry.
@Trooper101st ow , clever, did you think of that all by yourself ?
@@anonymus6810 Boo hoo Babba?
I would not fly there...trees and close by roads. It looked liked you just about put it down on a busy road.
This is like 3rd one of these I’ve seen crash on here. There’s def some issues with this model that need to be resolved.
I have had 5 flights on mine, 4 by FPV all stock. I'm sure most of the issues you have seen are user related. www.youtube.com/@tomhuntFPV/videos
I think your RX let you down. I had one and it always had a lot of packet losses
I have a lemons 10ch and im not a fan of the gyro so im going to disconect and put a spektrum rec with as3x and safe in it, i dont like the gyro motionrc has
Porpoising is a tell tale sign of the gyro, I would run the same setup as two brothers Rc and just by pass the gyro
Wrong, looked like it was tail heavy
Have you tested the Spektrum 8ch receiver before in a different plane, especially and EDF? Yours is an old receiver.
No, bought it brand new from Spektrum site on Amazon as I planned to use FW gyro/self-level.
@@Zek1701 That 8Ch receiver is at least ten year old product from Spektrum FYI
@Zek1701 You bought a fake rx , that rx is like 10yrs old and been discontinued.
@@Mikeylikesit1968 Sounds about right
Looked SUPER nose heavy from the start as well
Passed CG tested per instructions.
@Zek1701 Correct. The manual cg is very nose heavy. I'm about 1/2" aft and it's neutral.
I saw one of these crash at my club with the same crazy up and down before the crash. I think this may be the result of the elevators plugged into the contorl box/gyro in the wrong location. See the Motion RC video where they specifically talk about this situation and how to check to see if the gyro is moving the elevator in the correct direction when you point the nose up or down. A simple swap of the two elevator plugs solves the problem.
No, I went through the elevators thoroughly and did have to reverse them initially. Elevator and elevon worked as expected on the ground.
But was the gyro correcting in the right direction? Not just moving in the right direction to control movements...
😢what about the 4th possibility that the C.G. indicated, is incorrect?
@@angelofmusic477nope, checked right before the flight - just slightly nose down.
@@angelofmusic477 Or did the battery shift in flight?
Why in the world are you using a receiver like that in such a beautiful plane? Your friend Marty from Canada 🇨🇦 🛩 🛩
Don't see any problem running Spektrum receiver. Possibly the gyro response on pitch was reversed : th-cam.com/video/N2aF5AVoeeU/w-d-xo.html
@@edwen303tested self-leveling on ground and it looked right.
Spekjunk is the worst on the market
Ahhh man 😢 sorry about that .. this is like the 4th one I see crash .. something might be up with them 🤔🤔
While I can't confirm, I think it was the receiver.
@@Zek1701 🤔🤔
@@Zek1701Why people use Spekjunk in there expensive planes.
I have been told AND witnessed that the AR8000 is the only Spektrum product that has been unreliable in the last 12 years.
