The Secret Life of Walter Mitty | Ten Years Later
While Ben Stiller's 2013 adaptation of 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' garnered mixed critical reception upon release, its optimistic ideology, gorgeous visuals, and creative scenarios made sure that it found a dedicated group of fans. Ten years later, 'Mitty' doesn't only stand as one of my personal favourite films, but as one that's continuously inspired and engaged those that have come to watch it.

Porco Rosso | Normalising the Absurd
มุมมอง 1.7Kปีที่แล้ว
With its humanoid yet piggish protagonist, Porco Rosso probably should stand as one of Studio Ghibli's most absurd works. However, the film employs multiple techniques to make sure that the normality of its protagonist is never questioned, and that as an audience, our suspension of disbelief is never broken. Hollow Knight and Musical Characterisation
มุมมอง 3032 ปีที่แล้ว
The world of Hollow Knight is without a doubt humungous and diverse, and one of the best ways this is expressed is through its incredible soundtrack. In today's video essay, we'll be looking at Christopher Larkin's amazing boss themes, and how they characterise the inhabitants of Hallownest. ‘Abzzzzzurdity’
I saw it when it came out at probably a 12 year old and loved it. Still love it to this day.
Loved 💙 🎬
Walter Mitty got me thru life, and Ted Lasso got me thru the pandemic. ❤
I feel very similar about this film as well
I think the biggest change with walter is his attitude. Attitude can seriously change a mans life. Here he became more assertive, bold, and confident. Life is all about experiences and sharing with people close to you, and he got it at the end. I think thats real quintessence of life. This movie also reminds of the other movie called “yes man” by jim carrey
I’m 59 yrs old and I absolutely love this film. It makes feel good inside, and smile. That is all that matters. Great video young man you nailed it.
This movie changed my life
4:03 my brother and I have a joke that it is the only film we can both watch over and over again without getting bored. We adore this film and watch it at least once a year.
Not sure how I ended up here, but subscribed. Thanks for making this video.
Like everyone says: criminally underrated
Love to Mitty and his fern loving sidekick Hernando, (Adrian Martinez)❤
This comment isint going to stand out. But Ethan I think you have an incredible editing skill and your voice is perfect for your videos. I do hope to see more of your videos in the future. I’m certain that you could make it far in this platform. Weather you see this or…don’t, I hope you make it! You have the talent. Best of luck with what ever you do
Imma be the "my secret life on social media" interacting socially on reality also interacting with the people on the other side of the lens.
I have watched this twice at the cinema and ever since I've been living like him especially the OST i play every time I go on adventures
I love how you say you watch it multiple times a year because you're chasing the feeling it leaves you with, that's exactly how I feel! Thank you for putting it in words so well. I love this video so much! Thank you!
Great video essay. I'm happy to see how much this movie changed people's lives and influenced them to become better versions of themselves, myself included. This is hands down the best movie to ever come out, to me at least. When I started my channel last year this movie was the first one I covered. Taking this as a reminder to do it again because, looking back now, that video is terrible lol
this is the most self indulgent movie i've ever seen.
"Tell me all about it over Cinnabon. CINNABONNNN" Love that line (and Patton Oswalt). Never had a Cinnabon though, maybe I should... Can we also take a moment to applaud the excellent soundtrack as well, I started really getting into the works of José Gonzalez because of this film.
You sir earned a subscriber, I love love love the video! and this movie being my favorite of all time and how you talked about the flaws and all not just the good parts!
I am severely introverted and expected this movie to be right up my alley but I found it painful to watch. I found myself being embarrassed for him in both his “real life” and imagination through the whole movie. I was even embarrassed for the bad guy character. It’s a problem I have with many movies but this one was particularly painful to watch.
Great video! Very eloquent, very well spoken, keep it up love your work 😎
3:50 I was the same. I didn’t see the movie when it came out but definitely remember it being advertised and just wasn’t interested at the time. Although im almost glad I saw it more recently as I felt a much deeper connection to it being a bit older and has definitely been an inspiration to “live”
1:14 there
I admire most of Ben Stiller's work both as an actor and director so my comment is from a deeper than critical place. Walter, as loveable as he is/was is actually kind of a d!ck as a "person". He's so proccupied with his self imposed isolation that when he gets a very personal gift from an artist that he professes to admire, he throws it in the trash. Think about that for a sec. Then, on his birthday, his sister, who clearly has very little money, gives him another very sentimental gift and he trades it for a skateboard. Obviously, a used Stretch Armstrong with no box isnt exactly a valuable collectable and the long board he basically cons a kid into trading for is worth much more. He does gift the kid of the woman he is, lets face it, stalking more to get her to see what a " generous thoughtful guy he is". He ends up on a fishingboat after dropping very important radio parts in the sea after jumping into the wrong boat. When he reaches land again, he takes the only transportation these fishermen have, the shore bike, and crashes it. Just leaves it on the side of the road. After having abandoned the rental car he got in Nuuk. Somebody, probably that nice rental guy has to now retrieve it to make money. He constantly needs others to take up the slack for him while he just gets to end up being the "great guy" and ending up with the girl. He tells Hendricks he doesnt have to be "such a d!ck about it." At the finale, but its hard to see him as this hero when you really look at the way he operates. 2 cents.
Great movie.
What are similar movies to this? I like movies with this adventure, living the life style.
Curious case of Benjamin button
I know people first impression is another film about man in a mid-life crisis. But it does go deeper and a personal pleasure for me.
💯
I loved the film
This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
It is an amazing mopvie, i too watch it once a year to remind myself to see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel. That is the purpose of life".
I liked the movie too. Although it does bring up painful memories. I was too a day dreamer because I wanted to escape the reality. But I was fixed in a position I didn't want to be in. So I feel that part is very realistic indeed. Especially when a girl/woman is part of it. I like the part when the wheels start to turn and Walter finds the courage in himself to explore the world. Like some other movies or tv-series I liked Walter Mitty but it has too painful sections that prevents me from watching it very often.
the rotten tomato score is a badge of honor, a film is good if it has a low critic score and a high audience score. if both are high, it's a bad film (oppenheimer), if both are low, it's probably bad. the higher the delta towards audience score, the better the film is.
thank goodness jim was removed.
This movie introduced me to David Bowie and I'm forever grateful for it
I believe Walter Mitty is more fondly-remembered than Her.
I travelled to Iceland just because of this movie back in 2014, spent all my savings...really woth it, this movie keeps inspiring me ever since
Love this movie! My family and i watch this every year. So comforting and sweet. Not many movies end up encouraging you in life.
I feel like this movie changed my life, though I can’t tell you how or why. This movie is so special to me
The movie had multiple topics that it looked at and multiple stories from Mitty as he built his only reality taking him from real life. But his life turned out much better than his dreams where. But these dreams where a sign of his creativity. Those that didn‘t understand that or were not couragous enough to let the selves into Walter‘s reality, missed the movies most important lessons.
The Secret Lift of Walter Mitty is Art. And not everyone gets great art during the lifetime of the artist that created it, unfortunately. But this movie is truly splendid and I love it and Ben Stiller for doing it.
This movie and a film called The Fall are near all-time greats
I thought it was a great flick. I watched it twice within a couple weeks which I don't do with many movies
this film is going to always be in my top 5 of all time. people can hate all they want, and its because they don't understand it.
My wife hated, I really loved it! Ty for video
I'm precatious with this movie. Whenever i see it i get the itch to get a flight to Norway and get lost somehow
a hidden gem.
its a remake
This is awesome. You deserve way more subscribers. Keep up the great work!
