A run through for Kenny's sawmill. This was the first time running in several months. Engine was performing poorly due to dirty air cleaner, fuel filters and getting air in the fuel. It's a Frick 00 Sawmill powered by a 1955 International UD-14A power unit. Running a 48 inch blade with 48 F pattern teeth. 12/27/17 Here's an updated video. th-cam.com/video/E4xE9jGLXX0/w-d-xo.html

      These machines don't even have a decelerator pedal. You use the throttle in your left hand to control the engine speed. It works very well like that.

    We have a 14A bulldozer with that same engine. I couldnt tell exactly how the driveline was attached. If it was just a shaft straight from the engine that would make the blade spin too fast/ that blade needs around 550 or 600 RPM. You need too have the engine turning around 1500 rpm. So a reduction thru pulleys is needed. What I like most is they set the mill up high enough off the ground that the off bearer doesnt have to bend over to move every board & slab. I see folks using Bell mills that let every cut fall down and they have to countinually bend over to pick them up.

    • @northhill9293
      @northhill9293 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right. It is about a 2.6:1 reduction on this one if I remember right. Yes, we set it up as high as we thought we could. Thanks

    My 92 year old father was a mechanic's assistant on the Ladwig Pipeline Company in the summer of 1947 laying pipeline between Miles and Ballinger, TX. Among the heavy equipment they maintained was a TD-18 crawler tractor. The dusty conditions of west TX caused the air filter on the diesel engine to become clogged. The operator complained of power lose and black smoke from the exhaust. Essentially the clogged air filter was causing the engine to run with a rich mixture. After the air filter was cleaned out, the engine's performance improved significantly and the black smoke disappeared. Dad listened to the earlier video and this video of your UD-14A engine. He wants to congratulate you on your excellent work maintaining and improving the engine's performance. Thank you for posting the before and after videos.
